quote:Dan Hollis posted: I love Escape Plan. It's not particularly long, but there's a big chunk of gameplay. The presentation and music and gameplay is fun. The negative is how the game scores you. The game scores you on time, and how many touches you put on the screen. If you're like most people, your hand almost naturally rests on the back touch pad, and since you have to touch the front screen, and tilt (and sometimes both at the same time) you have to hold your Vita weird. The result - many unnecessary touches on the back pad and a bad score. But if you're like me, halfway through you'll give up on trying to 3 star everything because the scoring system is beyond peculiar and you'll just play for the enjoyment of it and it's totally worth it and very fun. (I do wish the scoring system didn't suck) One of the most endearing and original games. I say a definite purchase.

So I'm a bit confused about the whole USB charging thing. As I understand the Vita can't charge whilst connected to a PC unless it is turned completely off? Yet I swear that mine just recharged to full (on the battery icon) from about 3/4 whilst connected to my laptop and all I did was put it into sleep (to watch Ghostbusters, heck yes). Similarly I seem to remember people saying downloads stop if you put it into sleep rather than just letting the screen time out, but in my experience that doesn't seem to be true in my experience either. I might be wrong about the download, but I'm sure the recharge happened. Also, re. screen blotching: mine seems to have a few blotches that show up vaguely on a full-black screen, but are literally unnoticeable when the screen is up and running, so I'm not too worried. Now, off to try the Gravity Daze demo.

I'm looking to pick up one of the RPGs that I missed on the psp. It's down to either Lunar or Trails in the Sky. Since they are pretty close in price, I can't decide. Would you all suggest one over the other?

I can't seem to judge how to aim it at all. loudog999 posted:I'm looking to pick up one of the RPGs that I missed on the psp. It's down to either Lunar or Trails in the Sky. I also have some blotches, but as it was only ever visible during completely black loading screens and made not one single difference to actually gameplay I decided it was a total non-issue and never brought it up. Played my first Hot Shots Golf daily tournament, came in at 105th out of 108 players so I'm happy with that. I'm pretty happy with the game as casual as it is, it's the kind of thing I could play a bit of for very long time. My only disappointment is that I had watched video from E3 that showed better camera controls and touchscreen options that apparently never made it into the final version. What is there is fine, but a bit clunky compared to what they had been considering 6 months earlier. Question for those who are further into it, is the swiping the sky to change time of day an unlockable option? Because that looked loving badass in the E3 footage, it would be a tragedy if it never made it through to the end product. There were lots of other things I miss from that one video, but that alone was the single best thing they had already programmed. Super Stardust seems kind of meh so far. Not bad, but I've not found the hook yet.

You can get extra mileage from your power shot. When setting the impact on a power shot, shake the Vita right as you set impact. Your ball will gain an extra 50 yards (max), if you are lucky. However, if you turtle or rabbit, your ball will most likely veer off course (its not a very accurate shot to begin with)! You'll also need to have two loyalty hearts/levels on the character you are using, in order for it to work! The best place to practice 'Extra Power Mode' is the second course in the game. Lots of easy greens you can reach in one with that tip, provided your character has the power. Next time I may cover putting, which in itself is a nightmare! Kinda bummed with Dynasty Warriors after finishing the story mode. I wanted the conquest mode to be more similar to the one in DW7. To me, there was just something special about completing a specific stage for a specific reward. Conquest mode in DWN is cool and all, but I just liked DW7's better. edit: I made an account on ps3goons. http://www.klaver.co.uk/ps3goons/index.php?u=292 Valsu fucked around with this message at Feb 26, 2012 around 16:29 |

Putting in Hot Shots Golf is just a guessing game. You have to look at how fast the lines are moving and adjust your aim accordingly. Then hit harder if you're going uphill, or weaker if downhill. If you're not confident that you'll make the putt, hit the ball a little weaker so it rolls near the hole instead. You can also use a power shot to make the putt easier. So I hit my first hole in one the other night and found out the game doesn't auto-record them. Buy the camcorder ASAP so you can record your hole in one shots manually.

I love Wipeout 2048, but the combat events can go to hell. I find myself just replaying them for that one lucky time I manage to get the elite pass then I can move on and never think about combat events again. Unless of course I end up in a lobby full of fools who vote for them.

Grabbed a Vita and picked up Ninja Gaiden online, it's pretty awesome. But when I start the game it gives me a popup saying network features are disabled - what's up with that? Does that mean I won't get trophies, too?

Thankfully you'll never see it for 99% of the time you're using it, and certainly not while playing a game or any other activity in which the screen's displaying anything other than a solid black image, but you can find it if you go looking for it. The DS Lite D-pad's inability to hit diagonals consistently annoyed me about a million times more.

I read that some titles are disabling network functionality to avoid sucking up too much battery, I think Uncharted does it too.

Just throwing this out there: would it be possible/worthwhile for a tech savvy goon to make a quick and dirty website listing games where other goons could rate the games available for the Vita? I can see over time how "What games should I get?" becoming more of a thing, and having a hivemind metarating could be a nice shortcut to point people towards. I just think that knowing 32 goons played Uncharted and rated it on average 4 out of 5 would be a handy idea as to the value of the game. As a rule, goon recommendations tend to be better than random internet opinion.

Nothing to worry about, you rarely see it unless you have high brightness and you're in a dark room. When a game is normally playing it's like it's not even there. Don't fret. On that note, have people been seeing dead/stuck pixels on their Vitas? Supposedly it's not that much of an issue on OLED screens.

So I got the second Lumines cartridge from gamefly and popped it in, didn't need to do anything and it worked fine. Saves and it still registered as a full version of the game. So if you sell a cartridge so long as you don't delete the data it will work again which leads me to question the whole not-getting-trophies-if-you-don't-delete-from-the-first-system ordeal. Has anyone tried using a cartridge in a second vita without reinitializing the cartridge? Did it work?

If you need a quick aggregate, then you can file -> make a copy, sort by title and then make everything you want. I think you can also download a copy to excel/odt too if you don't have o do not want to make a google account.

I seriously don't want to spend a hundred dollars on a 32GB memory card, but my 8gb card is completely full. It's to the point that I had to delete install data from Tactics Ogre just to fit in Half Minute Hero (which is only 101MB!). Have there been any rumblings about a third party memory card? Is that something that could happen, or has Sony put any restrictions to prevent such an outcome?
