Also Giantbomb in general don't seem enthusiastic about the Vita.

Yeah the impression I get is that it's not the spectacle of the Uncharted 2 and 3 but is still a solid game maybe more comparable with Uncharted 1 in terms of setting and scope. And I wouldn't really expect it to be on par with the latest ps3 version, but it looks pretty good to me.

At times the Vita-isms got annoying and I had to disable a few in the settings menu, but over all I enjoyed it enough to beat it. That says a lot more compared to some games I've bought as of recent.

I have a quick question, and apologize if it has been answered before: I recently switched from the standard 4 gb memory stick from the FEB to a 32 gb. I had some saves on the 4 gig stick, which I backed up and restored onto the 32. My question is, do I need to deactivate the 4 gig stick, and will it mess up any other things (such as Wipeout online trophy stats and such). I ask this because I ran into an issue where my online authorization code wasn't working on Wipeout when I switched everything over (reinstalling and such) so I ended up having to reauthorize my account. Thanks for the help in advance. Also, excellent OP Policenaut, I blame you for making me buying this thing

Now that we're sitting at the day before the system launch, my day one library includes physical copies of Wipeout 2048, Hot Shots World Invitational, and Uncharted Golden Abyss and then DJ Max Portable 3, Final Fantasy Tactics, and Lumines Electric Symphony from PSN. I'd say this is a really really great start to a new console. Here's to years of PSV success!

NOTE: If you have a cartridge and you want to sell it, initializing DELETES YOUR SAVE DATA! The only way to save this is to do a full backup of all application data to PC/PS3 regardless of the content. I did this, reinitialized Lumines, got a poo poo score and copied my backup back onto the system. My score and level are back to normal but it said it was in Trial mode until I ejected/reinserted the cartridge. I'm not sure if the same data will work on a new, un-initialized cartridge though. Jesus christ sony how could you gently caress up saves this badly. This just sucks balls. Edit: someone else with Lumines - use content manager and copy your data to your pc. Then go to the backup dir and do a full listing. Is the directory structure the same? code:

OK so I've played with the backups a little more with a friend and here's what I've found: Backups go to the APP folder. The next folder is a hash based off something on PSN. Then the folder after that is the game id, and all applicable game data. Saves and game data are actually tied to a PSN account, not the cartridge (I think). Here's wipeout after a backup: code:Now, if only I had one other cartridge I could verify my hypothesis about the PSN deal. *Likely* you could actually do trophies and the sort on two different vitas with a single cartridge by backing up the data to your pc every time before you delete all data from your vita to de-register the cartridge. I might gamefly a copy of wipeout to verify this... dunno yet.

So when you loan a cartridge to a friend and you've used it on your system they're "locked out" from trophies and the sort. The cartridge will work, but it will claim that you're using a trial version of the game unless you "initialize" the game which signs the cartridge to your vita/psn account. I think it's not cartridge-specific but actually PSN account specific. I think there's a chain signature setup on both the cartridge and the vita data, which is specific to appmeta.psvimg/psvmd. Both of these files are encrypted which further-confirms my hunch.

If it is capable of signing a cartridge, does that mean that the games have hard-coded serial numbers? If that is the case, hopefully this inconvenience with the saves at least pays off by staving off rampant piracy.

Now that amazon is offering a free 4 GB card, I'm considering sending back my 16 GB card. Thoughts on this? At launch I'm buying all carts and the only games I see myself downloading are Super Stardust Delta, Escape Plan, and maybe Motorstorm RC. I figure by the time I actually need a big memory card the prices will be down.

This is something I'm a little confused about - why is it that TD and CC can just cancel like this when you've made the purchase? I'm doing a retail course at the moment, and when I told my teacher about this situation, she seemed to think the same as me - that if they advertised a product at a certain price and someone makes an order on it, they can't just go backsies and say 'oh, sorry, we made a mistake'. It doesn't matter if they made a mistake, if they advertise a product at a particular price they are required to sell it to you, end of story - at least, that's what I was led to believe, that there are laws in place to stop this sort of thing. Is this something to do with US law (I live in Australia), or am I just misunderstanding retail law?

They were chalking it up to a system error that for some reason Amazon's system called it the memory card but when TD/CC received the order it was seen as Wipeout in their system. I ain't the lawyerin' type but this type of stuff happens far more than it should and unless it was Amazon themselves that had the issue, they won't honor it.

Is this something to do with US law (I live in Australia), or am I just misunderstanding retail law? When you purchase an item from a retailer in America you agree to their Conditions of Use - http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/custo...l?nodeId=508088 for example and if you note in the pricing section it states: quote:With respect to items sold by Amazon, we cannot confirm the price of an item until you order; however, we do NOT charge your credit card until after your order has entered the shipping process. Despite our best efforts, a small number of the items in our catalog may be mispriced. If an item's correct price is higher than our stated price, we will, at our discretion, either contact you for instructions before shipping or cancel your order and notify you of such cancellation. Then if you go to Tiger Direct's terms you find http://www.tigerdirect.com/sectors/aboutus/legal.asp quote:In the event a product is listed at an incorrect price or with incorrect information due to typographical error or error in pricing or product information received from our suppliers, TigerDirect.com shall have the right to refuse or cancel any orders placed for product listed at the incorrect price. TigerDirect.com shall have the right to refuse or cancel any such orders whether or not the order has been confirmed and your credit card charged. If your credit card has already been charged for the purchase and your order is canceled, TigerDirect.com shall immediately issue a credit to your credit card account in the amount of the charge. Basically, in America so long as you set your terms out in legalese you're pretty much covered. When you purchase an item there's usually a check box or when you sign up claiming you agree to their terms of service.
