So I got to try a Vita at a Gamestop for about 20 mins. Tried demos of Little Deviants, Hot Shots, Wipeout, and Uncharted. Was very impressed with the hardware itself. The screen look amazing and it is far lighter than I thought it would be. Also talked about it with a friend during lunch today. Im getting really pumped. I think Im going 3G due to all the game centric near features. Not sure how much ill use it in the long-run, but its a nice option. Also really looking forward to e3 Vita game announcements. So many options when it comes to console franchises, PSN games, and iphone-style games. Giving a big recommendation to Rayman. Bought it on PS3 and its amazing. Has a lot of legs in regards to total completion. Maybe if I hope hard enough, Burnout and Mass Effect will make it to Vita. strategery fucked around with this message at Feb 14, 2012 around 18:57 |

The OP mentions remote play PS3 games. I didnt think this was really possible, short of hacking it. Does the vita really support that or is it just possible to code it into a ps3 game? or none of the above?

Policenaut posted:On the discussion of PSP games on Vita, I was actually thinking about this myself while thumbing through the USA selection of titles earlier today. What would everyone say would be games that would be totally improved on Vita with the new digital (for PSP games) right analog stick and bigger screen? Any FPS game would work considerably better. Medal of Honor and such. I might actually try those now myself. Policenaut posted:Vita supports PS3 Remote Play in a similar way the PSP could. From what I understand, only certain games work through it but Sony hasn't released a list. I have seen videos though on YouTube of people playing stuff like Battlefield 3 through it so it must have some pretty good capability. Im pretty sure that Battlefield 3 one was on a hacked [PS3]. Dont see why this couldnt just be enabled officially though. If it works hacked, it would work it they wanted it to. strategery fucked around with this message at Feb 14, 2012 around 21:38 |

Vita feels like a handheld, but runs like a console. The screen size really helps it feel like more than just a handheld. It is small enough to be a handheld, but big enough to make you forget you are on one (screen-size wise).

K-Hutch posted:The process kinda eats a dick. You have to pay for a month of 3G (either plan). Then at the end, you get your free month of 3G (250MB version) and a code for Super Stardust Delta, plus all the DLC for it. I was just going to get the WIFI one, but the stuff I have seen for some game makes me really want the 3G one. I want SSD too anyway. The only 2 things I have complaints about are that Id rather have [at least] a 16 gig card. Too bad they only give you 250MB of 3G.

Well I was quite convinced I was going for the 3G version, but then I looked at the 3G prices. 250mb - 15 dollars 3gigs - 30 dollars That seems a little disproportionate, doesn't it? Shouldn't the lower tier be close to 1 gig? I mean really At&t, at least pretend to be fair. Not sure if I can justify that. How easily could one go over the 250 mb limit? Cross game chat is 3G is it not? That has to take up data or no?

Any general reports on data usage? I want to know if the 250mb plan is enough for sending messages, checking friends, etc. 15 bucks for 1/12 of the $30 plan seems a bit ridiculous, but i dont want to spend 30 bucks on a month. If at&t were not such greedy bastards, a phone data plan could be connected to the Vita data plan for an extra 10 or so bucks. But whatever. Also: Any news on pre-order numbers? I'm just curious. strategery fucked around with this message at Feb 15, 2012 around 18:46 |

Anyone have experience (or plan on) using your (Verizon) iphone or the like as a public wifi hotspot to sidestep the 3g option? Apparently, its about $20 added onto your monthly plan. Then again, it is added onto your monthly plan. Also, I demand more sexy pics of their Vitas in action/you and your Vita. Now go!

So I did a bit of research on Verizon's phone tethering options. 3G phone - 20 bucks or 2 gigs 4g phone - 30 bucks unlimited This can be added or removed at any time. No contract. They did recommend adding it at the beginning of the month, however. This seems like a better option overall. Wifi with tethering.

So the following Hustle Kings PS3 = Free Hustle Kings Vita Wipeout HD/FURY PS3 = Free DLC for Vita version ULT MvC3 = DLC works on Vita as well (Added) Motorstorm RC = Copy for BOTH ps3/vita I am VERY happy this sort of this is getting pushed so early. QuicK question regarding PSP games. Does the system log you out if your online when you play a PSP game? If no, what does it say you are playing? My understanding is PSP games play through an emulator. Does the system say what game you are playing on your status or just "PSP game" or similar?

I know I will be playing it at home a lot because it will have games worth playing on their own merits and not just as a time killer for half an hour here and there. Plus it will be nice to be able to take it with me should I need it. I think the biggest thing for me with the Vita is cross-play gaming. Instead of hauling my ps3 over to a friends house to play something like dungeon defenders, wipeout, or some other maybe bigger game, I can just bring over my Vita. That has huge potential.

In the US, it is cheaper to go with Verizon's tethering. $20 gets you 2gb if you have a 3g phone. if you have 4g, $30 gets you unlimited. No contract, add or remove as needed.

Hustle Kings Question: Why is it that on some shots the game give you an option of what type of shot control to use and other times it doesnt? For example, sometimes I take am taking a shot and it shows the blue bar, which allows you to adjust the power and see the directional lines. Other times, the blue bar isnt there at all and I only have the option to hit the ball with the cue.

I had downloaded some of the Vita trailers from PSN just to get me amped about upcoming games a few days ago. I didnt watch it until today. I didnt realize they were actually advertising remote play for Killzone 3. A little misleading, Id say because it apparently (and predictably) isnt supported. I also think the TV ads are a little on the misleading side too. It appears they are advertising 3g multiplayer gaming when thats really not possible. Oh well. Anyhoo, I saw a Rocketfish hard case at Best Buy. Any impressions on this or other hard cases? I went to Gamestop and Walmart as well and there were no real hard cases there either.

Not that 8GB is big enough but I think it'd tide me over for awhile. Plus Near works better with GPS. Get a wifi Vita and use tethering on your phone.
