Leyburn posted:Are there any proper details about Fifa yet? I'm getting it as part of the Morrisons pre-order deal and I'm in two minds whether to keep it or sell it. Does it have the new defending controls from the grown up version? And how is the online, does it have the same league structure as the 360 and PS3 versions? That review seems to contradict this one: http://www.gamespot.com/fifa-soccer...review-6350180/ IGN posted:When FIFA 12 was released at the end of last year, a lot attention was rightly focussed on its triumvirate of new innovations – tactical defending, the player impact engine, and precision dribbling. Tactical defending remains unchanged – you'll still be containing the opposition through a hectoring mix of applied pressure and jockeying with the intention of forcing mistakes. Similarly, players collide convincingly depending on their relative orientation and speed. There's still the occasional bizarre tangling of players, but it never ruins the illusion. Precision dribbling, however, seems to have suffered slightly in the move to Vita. Gamespot posted:There's a reason FIFA Football (that's FIFA Soccer to those in the US) on the Vita lacks the "12" tag of its console counterparts. Many of the franchise's compelling new features, such as the Tactical Defending System, Precision Dribbling, and the Player Impact Engine are missing, as is the excellent EA Sports Football Club online mode. I figured I'd point it out, since you asked specifically about the new defense. I don't know who to believe.

It's just that from what I've seen it's a block puzzle game, so why is it being sold at $35.99 when something like SSD is $9.99? Does it have more content than I know about, or is it just really fun? Licensing the music for Lumines probably cost more than the entire development of Super Stardust Delta.

It's like they went out of their way to make the First Edition bundle as unattractive as possible. 4GB card, Little Deviants, 3G model. It's exactly what I don't want. It's uncanny; it's like they read my mind and did the opposite of what they found in there.

I want that case. I hope it makes it to the US in time for launch next week, otherwise I guess I'll have to get something else. I wish the Vita came with a crappy little sleeve like the PSP (at least the launch model, PSP-1000 crew represent) to tide me over. I play it pretty fast and loose with my devices (no screen protectors or wrist straps or condoms for me, raw dog forever gonna put a baby up in that wii), but I don't think it would be wise to carry the Vita around completely naked.

Rinkles posted:Has this wonderful bit of news been posted yet? Also, it appears to have inadvertently announced that all of Wipeout HD/Fury is coming to the Vita, from this awkwardly-worded bit: quote:If you purchase WipEout 2048, you will be able to download WipEout 2048’s DLC packs, WipEout HD and HD Fury for free when they launch later this spring (if you already own the PS3 versions). I couldn't tell what the hell that sentence meant at first, but if you postulate a Vita version of HD, it makes sense. edit: I mean, separately from the cross-play stuff within 2048. I kind of expected the wipeout HD poo poo to end up in 2048 en masse, but the specific wording here makes it sound like an independent release. Rinkles posted:I don't think that was inadvertent since else there'd be nothing much to announce. What I think this also means, but again its horribly phrased, is that HD will be getting 2048 maps. They don't actually say anything to suggest that HD is getting 2048 content. (And I don't think they'd do it, since it would devalue a game that's supposed to be a big deal on their new system.) The EU blog words it diffferently: "If you purchase WipEout 2048 and you already own WipEout HD and the HD Fury DLC on PS3, you will be able to download them for free when they launch on PS Vita later this spring." Still awkwardly worded, but different! The reason I say inadvertent is because they usually make a bigger deal about announcing new stuff rather than burying it in the middle of an article about something else. It's like "Yadda yadda, cross play, bing bang boom, buy it here, get it there, oh by the way, Wipeout HD/Fury in their entirety (possibly?) on Vita" as if everyone already knew that part. Or, maybe it's meant to say "Wipeout 2048's DLC packs, which include Wipeout HD and HD Fury…" I mean, that's what we already expected, to round out the cross-play capability. Right now 2048 has, what, 4 tracks from HD in it? Makes sense to add the rest in DLC. edit: ambiguous writing makes me mad, and both PS blogs are doing it. Apparently "Product Marketing Managers" don't need to know how to write. Wikipedia Brown fucked around with this message at Feb 16, 2012 around 15:58 |

Primoman posted:I can't help but feel they messed up with the FEB; while that bundle does include a free Vita game (of which I'm currently unaware of its quality, having not seen the quicklook of it yet), it suffers from the smaller memory card. By all accounts, the bundle coming out next week is a far better value, especially with the bigger card and the more surefire game (Super Stardust). It would have, but you're making a mistake in thinking that they planned it this way. The launch bundle was a last-ditch effort because they suddenly realized (probably based on how the system is doing in Japan) that aside from crazy FEB purchasers, nobody was going to buy the 3G Vita, so they'd better sweeten the deal like crazy. At least, that's my theory. When they came up with the FEB, they were still feeling cocky, but now they're worried that they have a catastrophe on their hands.

As long as I'm bitching about stuff… The way it places new icons on the home screen is annoying. I put my games up on the first page, and moved the things I'll never use (movies, welcome park, trophies, etc.) down into a lower page so I don't have to look at them. There are a bunch of empty spots up above this app ghetto, but whenever I install something, the new icon appears at the bottom, below the last thing, instead of filling in the empty spaces above. What the hell, guys.

One would hope that it becomes standard to not gouge people for wanting the same game on multiple platforms, and the free Hustle Kings thing is a good start. But, Hustle Kings is published by Sony, so it makes sense for them to give stuff away in order to make their new system look like a good deal.
