We still can't build down into water, can we. Or down off cliffs or the like.

Well, time to see if I can found a fort on top of a tomb!

EDIT: drat. I can't.

Wow, that sounds like it could be a great quest if it was more specific. Having to hunt down some obscure creature, extract a substance from it, and then weaponize it in order to kill a major enemy could be really neat. Of course, something that vague is just impossible.

I love the missions that you get from townsfolk to kill creatures of the night. They take on naked base racial forms during the day (Human, elf, dwarf) and live in little hollows, so you just trot out in broad daylight and shank them with hardly any effort even if you're warned that they can't be harmed unless you use specific weapons.

Since I've never attacked them at night I can't help but think that they're just madmen who left town and live in a little ditch, occasionally running over to scream at the townsfolk. Then you just waltz in, covered in armour, and stab the everloving poo poo out of them before returning home to the jubilation of the inhabitants. Such is Dwarf Fortress

I took the material immunity advice to heart, and decided to try attacking the were-guy with my copper knife instead of my silver longsword. A naked dwarf punched me in the face until I died.

Oh my god yes. You can get creatures to transform into other creature via syndromes. Some very quick testing got me a spider that turns dwarves into toads upon biting them. However, trying to examine the toad crashes the game, as I haven't set up the syndrome properly. Still trying to figure that part out. However, once I do the possibilities here are immense. Just imagine creatures that can mutate and morph your soldiers

Capitol: A building or complex of buildings in which any legislature meets.
Capital: A city designated as a legislative seat by the government or some other authority, often the city in which the government is located; otherwise the most important city within a country or a subdivision of it.

It's been a long time since I've played DF, I think I last played sometime during 0.31. I'm tempted to pick this up but I'm having too much fun with the Tribes: Ascend Beta. Though I'm definitely noticing a distinct trends so far about vampires being lawgivers in this version from everyone's stories.

Thing about the new emission system is that it actually is very similar to the old one. I only needed to make minor changes for my old emissions to work with this new version. However, Toady appears to have added more syndromes to the game with different effects. Combine that with the new way emissions are described and you can make some really crazy stuff. You could also make passable "magic" now.

As far as I can tell the sewer grates can't be entered. You have to hunt around the area and find an actual access point, which is marked as a normal stairway ">" or whatever.

Nothing's on fire...

I embarked in a haunted desert and everything everyone has been saying about haunted zones in the new version is entirely true. The expedition leader was killed by an undead sea lamprey that we quickly stomped out and the hurried digging of a shelter was constantly interrupted by an acrid rain.

And then the expedition leader came back.

This is bad, very very bad. I realize you can still turtle up in this version but haunted zones are not pleasant places to go. Besides the killing, everyone is miserable due to the foul rain, the enforced militarization, the loss of friends and the sudden re-introduction to friends that are not so friendly.

I tried out adventure mode and it crashed while I was traveling...
