She doesn't have a twig-thin waist or any pouches so I don't think you can truly call it Liefeld Syndrome.

Edit: Actually, looking at her model, her legs are proportional to her body. Her shoes (or feet) are ridiculously big for some reason.

I have like 20 matches total and agree with everything here, I loving hate that lovely, lovely map.

Honestly the only one I find myself enjoying is the one with the anni that's just a small platform.

I've been playing MOBAs for a while and I'm not crap at shooters, so I'm enjoying the game so far (that is to say, doing well against people who are, at best, at my skill level.) As I look to get more involved:

1. What sort of order should I look to buy/unlock things in? Should Money Magnet or Bot Buster be my first priority?

corollary to that,

2. Are any of the bundles on offer (say, the spunky 6 pack or OG pros pack) worth picking up, or should I hold out and see what other bundles might go on sale? How often do bundles cycle out?

Definitely pick up Money Magnet, or see if a goon has one for trade for something. Bot Buster is kind of broken at the moment. It works early game, but once you level up enough it just flat out stops. You can only get +100 bot rating from it, but theres a bug right now where you can't go above 200. 200 Bot Rating is also your natural bot rating at level 15. It'll be good to have when this issue gets fixed though.

Bundles don't cycle. Pick up one that has a good set of pros you enjoy playing.

So I posted in that thread, but I'm curious about what some goons think about this idea as well.

On the other maps, the highground is somewhat balanced due to the danger of being flanked by pros or jungle bots, forcing people to keep moving and checking their surroundings (in theory). The middle of Downtown Spunky on the catwalk+anni ring has no real danger for a team that properly utilizes it, creating control dominance in both lanes.

Focusing on this problem specifically (and temporarily ignoring some of the other problems with the map), how do some of you other long-time players feel about adding in an environmental hazard that regularly (and predictably) occurs and somehow forces the established catwalk offense to temporarily retreat, creating a new teamfight for control of the catwalk every time the hazard ends?

If not a regular hazard that resets control of the catwalk, maybe a player bought hazard similar to an ejector (that doesn't do anything to the bot lane and maybe is cheaper) could keep snowballing down once a team controls the catwalk.

Failing both of those, maybe putting something really new and crazy in, like an expensive button that changes level geometry on your side to give a favorable position to attack the catwalk from (or lowers the catwalk or turns it into a trap door slide into your turret or something).

I'm somewhat just rambling on this entire post to brainstorm ideas, but I think adding some real danger to the catwalk can keep the spirit of the map and importance of the catwalk while keeping it from being incontestable.

I'm not so sure an environmental hazard would work. I don't see exactly what you would do that would work in such a small space. It would be hard to get right, as well - if it lasts a long time, it would be a huge pain in the rear end, but if it didn't, the team in control could just drop down and then move back up when it's gone. It would also be very highly frustrating for new players.

I would just like to see more ways to get to the controlling high ground. Loco Moco has six different jump pads to get into the jungle and control space. Bullet Gorge has eight (ten if you have jetpacks). Downtown Spunky has four, two of which are behind the moneyball turrets, and all of which require you to run through the enemy fire to get to.

As crazy as I feel for saying something remotely positive about downtown spunky here.

I'd say theres abit of a trade-off for taking the tiny rear end jungle as you lose the game dominating upper-ring. Which is kinda of the opposite of the other maps where if you control the jungle. You control the juice/churro's, while also more routes for mobility and superior positioning.

Downtown spunky has the least abusive jungle while in its place stands that ring that allows you to push both lanes from one location .

That's why you just don't go into the jungle. Like I said, the jungle is a place you just shouldn't be unless you're activating the annihilator. The upper ring takes the place of the "abusive jungle" that the other maps have, except it's ten times more abusive.

As a Commando the jungle sort-of rules on Downtown Spunky because there's no reason to use it. As Spark I just see the Spunky jungle as a place to quickly grab churros and heal before I teleport back into a lane.

You should still head into the jungle for churros/juice fillups. Although clearing out a support/CG camping the upper ring is a pain in the rear end. Unless you flank'em from your spawn jump pad and possibly burn a juice. Sharpshooters really helps there.

Also downtown spunky jungle favors melee sooo well. Theres basically no where top run except down a hole.

The jungle takes no time to clear as a Commando. A quick run down there to clear / heal up / juice makes sense.

Okay, but you realize that you don't run a commando at all on Downtown Spunky, right? On top of just being weak characters all around, they don't really do anything to contribute to ring dominance.

This is more of an issue with overall balance being bad though. You shouldn't really run an actual commando on any map because Veteran and Assault are the best commandos.

edit: Basically I think Spunky would be a lot more tolerable if class balance was better.

What if there was an easier way of getting on the walkway with the angled glass beside it, that looks over the bot spawner/turret?

At least then you could be on the same level as them as far as shooting is concerned.

Though I entirely agree that the center ring is loving stupid in general.

I'm not pro-mode like you. I play Assassin to play the game to have fun. We are not 'good' on ANY map when you get down to it. It's the only class I play though. I loving HATE Spunky for all of your reasons, but I do not approach the game as xXx MLGNOSCOPE xXx. I jungle on that map because it only takes 5-10 seconds to clear it once I have the sword. The churros to heal are a nice thing too. I try to be on top of the field as much as possible but pushing lanes as an Assassin is so easy on that map that going from lane to lane under while people are fighting for ring is not a bad thing. Clearing lanes for people to focus on killing and then picking off scavengers is how I play that map.

edit: I am level 54 btw

I feel multiple defenders really deteriorate how effective a commando can be. When you got both CG/support on your side, no one should ever be alone running off back for healing(this is where the commando should come in!). Or lurking around low health in general.

Area denials really cripple commandos when you've got +2 pros that excel at it. Although don't stack commandos!

Anyways I'm not saying spunky is good by any means. But I do like you have to choose between either getting more resources from the jungle or taking top for superior positioning.

So if the catwalk went around the inside of left lane here, it would allow the lanes to become more connected. Hell, maybe even reroute the catwalk so that it doesn't stretch out over the top of right lane. This might allow for the ring to be contested, since the turret should theoretically keep the opposing team off of how incredibly important that new catwalk would be. However, if the first turret gets taken down, then it might just make it even harder to defend.

More barely thought out ideas, but any thoughts?

My last four matches have been spunky bowl

Though, I've come to hate Combat laser even more than Spunky, as each one of those matches had a murder machined combat girl in them. That and having to always be the one to man up and edge out to actually shoot at the TURRETS with Karl, first one on left lane, because both a gunner and tank on our same team refuse to poke their heads out even when we have no opposition and our bots are drawing the fire.

One match we had a Tank, a Gunner, and a Cheston. Each and every one of them were little baby men leaving Karl to actually murder the turrets. At least the support healed me during the first one.

I have also pretty much sworn off buying jackbots in pubs, even when people ask me to. Because nobody ever pushes with them. Or they will start to, then run off to go god knows where.

I hate Spunky too. It's far to close quarters for my liking and I always do bad on it. I am just bitterly biased.

I ran with 2, 3, 4, and 5 man groups last night with some pretty good success until we ran across Timon and whatever group he runs with. Those guys are very good. Scary good. I think if KillerBees hadn't had an off game we would have done a lot better. Their Assault went like 14-0.

I'm having a lot of fun as Support. What's the best way to level him? Airstrike or Firebase first? I usually don't throw any points into healing or damage until OC, Firebase and Airstrike are all maxed out.

How did you deploy multiples of the same pro? They always get a big red X over their icon and become unchoosable if someone hits the Lock button, in my experience.

And I may be terrible at this, but I somehow held off most of the enemy team on my own the first time I was forced into Assault. I don't know why they didn't just come around the corner and murder me.

We were doing a 10 man custom game with goons, and custom games don't have any limits on what classes people can play. Also I think the game still tries very hard to put you against other newbies even if you're much better than other newbies so it's probably why you held off so well, plus assault is a jerk.
