I think one thing that would help this game is if they were to implement xp division if people were too close to one another. Getting the same regardless of if there's one in lane versus five is just silly.

I do, but I usually use Deploy as a later skill. -Edit- I'm not saying I don't use deploy, but it's much more of a situational skill that doesn't require a fast recharge. Throw Churros in the mix, and it's ready whenever I need it to be. Add to that, I'm usually using it more as a method to either top off armor or give my allies a bit of armor during ani fights and it doesn't need many points. That's why I save it for lategame. I roll with a Support buddy on voice a lot, when he asks for a Deploy he gets it. Far as anything else, I roll with Critically Late + Critical Kill with a 25% reload endorsement build, Gunner is a beast. Pseudophile fucked around with this message at Feb 28, 2012 around 23:12 |

So has anyone tried out All Magnet yet? Thoughts? I think it would be great on a commando (lots of items dropping in jungles and big fights, so getting armor and churros magneted to you could be really big), but 6750 is a lot of credits.

I won it as a prize, it works just like the new Money Magnet system. It doesn't pull everything all at once, it pulls every quarter of a second. It's also got half the range of Money Magnet. It's good but Money Magnet is better - you can actively gently caress your teammates by sucking up a Churro or armor pickup that they might desperately need.

Yeah, that's why I was thinking of only running it on someone I jungle with most of the time. The range might be a killer though. I guess I'll try to wait and win/trade for it.

Well that was sweet. I hope when this game actually comes out properly they have a mercenary-style queue so I can stop running headlong into premades where our team gets 3 kills total and has two guys with 20+ deaths while the other team literally just spawncamps us while we can't do anything.

It's been said before, but team balance is the most important aspect of whether this game succeeds or has the community die off and it goes the way of MNC. On another note I decided to buy Bot Buster to see how it works, and the answer is: poorly. Over the course of a standard game that I had maybe 60 bot kills in a row without dying the difference in bot killing power was so negligible that I wondered if I had forgotten to save my setup properly. So I started a solo practice game and had 150 kills and the difference still wasn't very pronounced. So all in all, don't buy it.

Don't chase down a pro that pulls you into their botwaves/turret sections. Especially for the lower mobility classes, as they haven't a prayer of escaping after the kill.

Yeah, so, good players love to rattle off ways support is "useless" which leads me to believe he's going to get a big buff and if that happens, I simply don't want to play. He makes the game no fun.

I doubt he'll get much of a buff beyond maybe widening the gap between his and CG's heal abilities (if that).

I just don't get it, though. People tell me all the time that he's bad but in every single game he's in, he is the most important member of the other team and is usually the most instrumental in their victory (unless some commando snowballs out of control). Is it just something everyone accepts in games that healer classes are just going to be way better than everyone else?

Nobody is saying he's bad, dude. No one (in this thread) has ever said that. You say healing classes are "fundamentally broken" in that they require you to have a healer to be an effective team. That's arguable, especially when you're talking about playing with people who are actually good and not just using a Support to save their rear end from really dumb plays. But the big issue is that the ability to heal makes a game more fun for everyone. You don't have to walk all the way back to spawn every time you get smacked down. If you're the healer, you can contribute to your team in a way that doesn't rely solely on twitch-shooting. You've got this Counterstrike-era mindset that only people who are good at clicking on bad guys' heads should be able to do well and help the team, but that has no place in class-based games like this and TF2, so you should really stop trying to apply their rules here.

It's probably like playing medic in TF2, the difference between having a halfway decent one and not having a medic (or having one that's actively useless) is huge and goes beyond whatever that player would have added to the team as any other class. However he's exceptionally weak on his own, doesn't really have much to do beyond healbot and try to avoid getting shot, and generally isn't enjoyable to play by anyone who isn't naturally drawn to passive support classes. That's how I feel about him and CG after seeing how matches play out, the team that has the more competent Support/CGs usually ends up winning. I suppose that could change having not ever seen a team without any support class so who knows. Though we just did win a really grueling match against a team who had us penned up, we fought off at least 10 jackbots that I was in on, our team didn't understand that you need to damage bots to win and was underleveled most of the time. Other guy sneaks in an annihliator as our moneyball is getting pounded on by yet another jackbot, I'm right there fighting it and take the opportunity to grab a jackbot+little bots of our own, smear the Megabeth carrying the enemy team and their CG/Support duo, fight our way all the way through all their poo poo, our CG/Support pair sets up a bunch of cats and a turret on their moneyball while I run around getting a couple kills including the Megabeth respawn, turrets blow up the moneyball and end what felt like an hourlong match. I've had several of these hilarious never-say-die comebacks in the 20 or so games I've played so far, reminds me a lot of what happens a lot at my (low) level of LoL. Probably the whole deal where getting aced or at least losing all your important players at once near the end of the game gives the other team a gigantic opportunity to reverse and win at lightning speed. I've got to say I much prefer this to the old overtime system, it's just as capricious and offers an incentive to keep fighting but it's also much more fair because it requires a pretty big mistake by the winning team to set up, rather than "force a stalemate, have assassins or assaults ready with juice" Celestatiune fucked around with this message at Feb 29, 2012 around 17:07 |
