XboxPants posted:Just making sure that their grapple animation(s) somehow work against every other character without ugly clipping or anything is another kind of thing that they have to do for this game that just isn't necessary for isometric mobas at all. So, yeah, there are a number of things. Have you played Spark? His Flip Switch doesn't always work properly with the Gunner or Tank. Depending on where you grapple them from, they just stand still while Spark plays the animation on his own, then they get thrown away. I believe as long as every Pro looks humanoid, this won't be much of an issue. I think it will be quite rare that they have to make grapple animations unique to (against) certain Pros. It certainly seems they haven't done so with any of the three commandos, who I play on a regular basis. Liberatore fucked around with this message at Mar 6, 2012 around 22:11 |

Yeah, he does a leg throw on Gunner and Tank. It's a completely different animation. The only glitch I've ever seen with it is the pro not going anywhere because another pro standing in the path.

I also had a ring out randomly while flashing on Spunky, not even near the mid's hole gaps. I was able to safely flash out of the bot spawn after cool down was up, but god drat Spunky has a lot of bad jumps for sparks. e: okay this is important, do I buy the FLYING EXPLOSIONS taunt or the TAP DANCING taunt e2: Doing Moneyball taunt while on their moneyball and annihilator, tapdancing for victory poses. Oh man I got the best air grapple ever last night. It wasn't even "even though I was on the air I got grabbed because of the lag". I literally grabbed a duded in the air so we were both going through the regular grab and slam his head on my barstool animation of veteran, MID AIR high up. It was so funny

Is it just me or is there a bit more raging during the game between goons? I understand with how matches are set up now, you are pretty much guaranteed to play a pre-made so it is going to require a bit more coordination, but constantly hearing "get the annihilator" spammed with 3/5 team members dead or bitching about feeding when the whole team has around the same number of deaths can make the game non-pleasant . Can't we all just sit back and enjoy a world where genetically engineered super athletes kill each other for the glory of bacon? One last complaint and I'll stop bitching, but I still don't understand why some players are not making bots kills priority normal one pre-annihilator? If you stay behind your bot line while putting just enough pressure on the other team, not only will you not feed but get ample cash to level up and (for the love of GOD) to buy push bots. I apologize for the rant, the few games I have played this week were a bit rough...

The premade community for this game is growing a lot larger so playing is also getting a lot rougher, but I'm pretty sure compared to pubbies most goons are saints. There are a handful that can get really aggressive, but I'd like to think most of us just can't control our tone.

I feel like there is some kind of curve players go through as they learn to play. First you don't know crap about the Annihilator. Then you entirely overvalue the Annihilator. Then eventually you get an idea of when the Annihilator is viable or just a lost cause that will just feed the other team.

Yeah going for the Annihilator when they have a pretty secure grip on it is never ever a good idea unless you strike as a whole team in a ridiculously coordinated way. I'm starting to think getting caught up in a long drawn out fight for it is also a bad idea, like that time is better spent pushing turrets.

I've noticed quite a few times that maybe the first annihilator of the game, if the opposite team has got it locked down, it's best to just hang back and spawn two medium bots and push ahead straight after. Usually you'll actually be able to get their turrets down where they won't have been able to push at all.

You see the whole enemy team going for the annihilator and then you just leave one guy bothering them (through some kind of handy knockback, like the Support's) while the other four pick a side and push like crazy. The issue is that you need to coordinate and the guy harassing the other team needs to avoid dying. This is impossible unless you're a premade team on mumble/ventrilo.

Seems like you can almost entirely negate the Annihilator on the teams that commit hard to getting it.

There have been plenty of times where getting the annihilatior hasn't made a difference because the other side was efficently pushing the lanes. I'd like to see maybe two people trying to hold the annihilator, two on the lanes with the fifth person going inbetween as needed or even harassing people approaching the annihilator from their spawn. I played a few games of assassin this week. She's really fun- there's always something exciting to do, so it's hard to be bored. Usually I didn't do much laning. It was a lot of bouncing around looking for targets to dive at and then dying horribly because I didn't notice his entire team was there. But still, it's a vary active pro to play and I liked her a lot more than I thought I would.

Orange Crush Rush posted:I'm starting to think getting caught up in a long drawn out fight for it is also a bad idea, like that time is better spent pushing turrets. I honestly can't stand teams that decide to jump on the annihilator right when a fuji wave is approaching a turret, 99% of the time I see this happen I am expecting to lose turrets while they fight for anni and the lanes keep getting pushed. You lose turrets, their bots push the lane up - so when you eventually get the anni, you have no ground in the lane, you can't get to to their turrets in time even with bots - it's pointless. I find it more and more in games now that you can let the enemy team have the first anni -AND- claim their front two turrets while it's happening. It was said earlier devoting a single guy to the anni to disrupt is great - especially someone mobile with a good disrupt. Depending on the map, a support can really screw up the anni, same with Karl and Assassin. You can have their entire team derping around on the anni while you smash lanes and prepare an instant spawn when it goes off. Although if you have one of those teams where everything is meshing well sometimes you can have both. Particularly clever people who support anni while clearing lanes (especially Bullet Gorge) Although I will say there is nothing funnier than the team that choose to chase kills after they win the anni rather than push lanes, they overextend and push hard looking for the poor saps who are low on health - not realizing that you buffed up everyone's armor for just such an occasion and them dropping down next to your turret isn't going to yield anything but a nasty headache. Edit: Oh and in case anyone was wondering, todays patch will have Megabeth skins. Also, new skins for all girls in SMNC themed around angels and devils (if they are finished)

Karl got nerfed, so we'll see how that plays out. Spark has to be in melee range to achieve that kind of dps. To be honest, he doesn't have a lot going for him besides that dps.

Moreover, Gunner is an enforcer - his point is to be a wall and punish people that don't "get it." Karl is mobility and damage, and Spark is just straight damage. I don't think it's that odd for him to get outdpsed.
