I try my best to encourage people who are new to stick with it but when you have a cacophony of 'GET GOOD,' 'STOP FEEDING, (racial or homophobic epithet ), or any other slew of insults going, it scares new people off. I like the game and the company but they really, really need to make a tutorial mode or something for the new players.

The community is too goddamned insular right now. I pretty much know most of the good, very good and great players by name. I'm hoping this PAX patch (which they're promising is the biggest yet since they've been working on it for a while) is really drat good because while I'm pretty ride or die with this game and regularly play it with my friends, I don't see it growing without some sweeping changes.

I haven't really seen this. The only time a new player will get called out is if they are doing truly dreadful and keep it up like that all game. Playing with a 0-20 assassin is never fun.

Even then, most people just say something like 'Sin, stop fighting their team, you need to get your levels first'. Which is usually ignored while they cartwheel into turrets constantly.

I played two games in a row with an Assassin who played out the entire game, and never got a single kill of any kind. No bot kills. No pro kills. Just a non-stop spree of deaths. The first game, he was on my team. The second game, I was Spark, and to compensate for that player being horrible, I said I would go into the jungle and NEVER leave it, only farming bots up there. The Assassin came up and chased me around for a good five minutes until I finally tossed her off the level.

I've seen it quite a bit on the forums and in the chat rooms of the game. I've been trying to learn how to use Wascot properly and I've been yelled at a few times for feeding because of it.

I visit the forums regularly and the attitude seems to persist there, too. The community for the game is rather dire and I hope that Uber does something to accommodate new players. For example, I sent a close friend an invite to the game and he's played maybe five times before giving up. His excuse? Being yelled at and feeling ultimately useless deterred him from playing again. It also didn't help that in the few times we played together, the group queue matchmaking placed us again groups that absolutely pubstomped us.

I'm trying to learn Wascot right now too and you can just do what I do, which is play with Eigo and have him do everything so we still win.

On a more serious note, I'm kind of torn on this whole newbie issue. I mean on one hand, it's not like they have alot going for them to teach them outside of a few guides hidden away on the Uber forums and that guide in game that really only scratches the surface. Also keep in mind this is kind of new ground here, the whole concept of a shooter and a MOBA/DotA clone or whatever.

On the other hand, people need to stop picking Assassin for their first few games badly, but that's not gonna happen because everyone loves playing as a girl ninja with big boobs. Those players really do mess up the whole game for his team, but there isn't much around this outside of locking out the Commando classes for new players, which is something I'm not really a fan of, or altering how the level system works, which at this point is probably not gonna happen.

Someone in the past made mention of locking out the commandos at least for a few levels so that you have actually played a few games seems like a good idea. Make sure people have gotten their feet decently wet before letting them take on higher diffculty classes.

A Gunner can take more damage than a glass cannon Commando. You have more room for success than failure when your HP is effectively triple of an Assassin's.

Your slow walking speed also means it takes longer for you to get back to the killing fields (thereby slowing down your time-to-die rate), and the plodding along from spawn to shooting gallery 20 times a round makes you more quickly realize "Hey being dead sucks and I should refrain from death as frequently as possible!", a key tenet to success.

Ninja part aside, if that was the case new people would be playing Combat Girl exclusively.

Maybe we should somehow emphasize CG's ability to spew laser beams and Assassin's ability to die quickly if you don't know what you're doing.

Guys stop making Eigo do all the heavy lifting. He injured his back after I leaned into him too hard while he was trying to carry some pubbies.

But seriously, if you're thinking of learning Wascot just remember to prioritize Offense and Shifty Shuffle over everything else. Shifty Shuffle completely shuts down Assassins and Offense makes the life-steal effect earn it's keep, especially if you Juice and Party Poop from behind during a team fight. My points always go into Offense, Shifty Shuffle, and then Defense.

The Crook Hook is best used as an escape tool unless you spot an easy kill that you can get away from without it. I usually put one point into it early on and then ignore it until 14-15. Party Pooper is nice, but you'll only get the full use out of it a handful of times a match. Consider putting it off until the second annihilator or if your team is sticking together and pushing a single lane hard. Often times making sure no one dies in a team fight or a gank attempt is more important then sneaking a single kill from the back and then blowing all your long cooldowns to get away safely.

Not really. Gunner is hilariously useless unless you are quite good and have a solid team behind you. Seriously, Gunner can do NO damage unless someone else helps him - either by healing as a support or locking someone down so he can get a good amount of damage out before they run off.

Welcome To PAX! And... Rule Changes: 31

It's time for PAX East 2012! If you make it to the show feel free to come talk to us in booth 1062! (PAX East Expo Map) We'll be playing lots of Super MNC, chatting about the game, talking to press, and having tournaments! To celebrate the occasion we've built PAX East 2012 uniforms for all of our first 14 Pros! We've also brought back the fan favorite Cardboard Tube Samurai uniforms from MNC, both the regular and battle damaged versions. Codes will be given out at PAX.

Also for PAX, we're introducing our new Pro to the Super MNC line up! We welcome our newest combatant, Leo! He's a defender and a clone of the actual Leonardo da Vinci. Read all about him below. We've included one alternate uniform and a Tea Time taunt for his release week.

Another big change this week is the removal of the old match making and the integration of the new. "Matchmaking Test" option is now gone but the system has moved into "Quick Match". This is a skill based system which should do a much better job at making better matched games. We will continue to improve the system over time.

Lastly, Mickey Cantor has escaped! His whereabouts are completely unknown. So, moving forward, Super MNC has hired two new announcers to take his place! GG Stack and the legendary Chip Valvano will now be calling the games.

As always, feel free to leave us feedback at http://www.uberent.com/forums! If you have issues please email support@uberent.com.

Gunner won't feed as hard as an Assassin for the simple fact that it takes much longer to get from his spawn to the fight.

Although speaking of Gunner, I'm really not feeling the tiki bro anymore, which is sad for me because I loved Gunner in MNC. I keep getting knocked around as him, at the same time I'm noticing people playing Gunner kind of get steam rolled. I have to imagine they'll be reusing some of this geometry for other outfits though. The sheer number of afros implies some sort of disco or funk outfit set.

Leo looks pretty interesting, no big nuke but what looks like some great bot pushing abilities instead. Can't wait to Drillocopter a jungle bouncer or the first enemy fugi wave. Plus I have saved up enough coin that I can fully enjoy the first week of massive overpoweredness that all new pros seem to get.

That wall between the two enemy turrets on Locomoco is going to be completely unassailable with three defenders though, it is already incredibly difficult even with just a Support who knows what they are doing.

Actually, scratch that, everything is going to be completely unassailable with three defenders.

That is true, but fortify is already an incredibly powerful ability with just combat kitties, the ability to improve other turrets just added an additional bit of unneccesary power.

Sort of like the removal of knockback from Megabeth's main, or the damage changes to her charge. While it could easily be argued that the change reduced the depth of the ability, it was necessary to bring her closer to balanced.

e: And now they can balance Fortify around the combat kitties, rather than the combat kitties and the percentage chance that CG is next to a turret or has Leo or Support on her team.

I thought rockets/firebases being boosted was all kind of dumb, but I also think the fact it only works on her own turrets makes it so the skill needs something like overclock does for support. Maybe keep the speed boost but don't give a cooldown reduction, but it's weak as hell now.

vvv: Not sure if that's sarcasm, but combat kitties do slow for the duration (though everyone uses CTS), but the Support can overclock his stuff remotely, gets a speed buff and skill cooldown. Combat girl has to be within range of the turrets and gets no buffs to herself.

Yeah, I am wondering what the reasoning behind the drop tweaks are. The lack of churro/armor drops from push bots would seem to slow down pushing/increase reliance on defenders healing. I'm not sure anyone was asking for defenders to be even more necessary to have on your team.

I actually ran into a three commando/Veteran/Assault team that ruined my day figuratively. They didn't need to heal as they pushed lanes and basically swarmed all over people. When they needed healing, they'd just go hit up Regenitols or subsist on Churros. It was damned frightening and I swore Adagio for Strings played every single time we stepped out of our spawn.

I wouldn't mind the need for a Defender of some type. I think people should get comfortable in Defender positions but I understand that not everyone likes healing/Area of Denial type characters. I personally love the Support, the Medic in TF2, etc.
