I've had maybe four games in my just over a hundred where a sniper/gunslinger has utterly dominated and been a worthwhile choice. Of course, in all four occasions when this happened a member of my team ragequit because of "aimbots".

The only map that I'd say a sharpshooter is better than second support is the Jungle map, and that's mostly because as a Sniper you can sit next to your first turret on the right side for either team and headshot the people that are buying the annihilator unless they stand in a very specific place. My record is 3 kills before the other team wised up and sent someone after me.

I dunno, I feel like Spunky Cola has a lot clear lanes you can snipe from without a ton of uncovered angles you can be ganked from.

Well there are certainly other times where sharpshooters can be useful, but for the most part I agree with KildarX. In almost every other circumstance, having a different class would be more useful than a sharpshooter.

You keep saying this but it's just not true. The only time it's true is when they're feeding real hard like that. So long as they keep their deaths under control, then anything they do is gonna be a help to the team - killing & buying bots, pinging enemy heros & turrets, etc. Even their very presence is enough to influence the other team, generally. They'll be less likely to rush a spot if there's a Pro standing around. Or, if not, and they rush in, now you have an opportunity. Sorry but this argument is just specious.

Every time there is a sharpshooter on both my team and the enemy team, ours struggles to get a single kill and feeds horribly. Their sharpshooter is an expert shot that makes everyone on my team afraid to go around the corner.

However, I have had some amazing sharpshooters on my side before, just not when the enemy team also has one.

New update

Uber Entertainment posted:

Oh. My. God! I just spilled coffee everywhere! Uber with the Rule Changes 27.

It's a monster, huge, amazing update this week. We have taken all the uniforms and split them up into head gear, torso gear and leg gear! You can now mix and match parts of uniforms to your liking. These gear parts are also added to the Prize tables so you might get a gear piece for a post game Prize! Check out the system with an awesome new Assassin uniform called "Stab Demon". This tech also allows us to finally grant the "Throwback MNC Veteran" uniforms to anyone who owned Steam MNC before Feb 29th, 2012. Don't worry, this isn't the final cut off, but this lets us flex the system before setting the final date.

We are also introducing a new test version of our matchmaking system! In the "Play" menu you can click on "Matchmaking Test". It does not currently support teams. You can opt-in to multiple regions. Matches might take a little longer to find due to the complex nature of trying to get you a well matched game. Feel free to give it a test run and leave us feedback!

Finally we fixed up large group of annoying bugs, improved performance in several areas and started using a new patching system that should reduce future update sizes.

As always, feel free to leave us feedback at http://www.uberent.com/forums! If you have issues please email support@uberent.com.

Improved main menu flow for store and locker room.

Links in the main menu will now launch a browser when clicked.

Added new visual effects for bots that are stunned. It's a shocking new look.

Is it really that big of a deal? The alt-fire on his gun rarely ever seemed to get used (vs. buddy spamming at range) and the Prop Hop changes seem to be more about shutting down overbearingly good annihilator control.

e:Also, those Megabeth changes are pretty great. I'm interested to see if the disc still slows after the (new) knockback. Spin does the same amount of damage over time, just pulses faster.

It's really more "Karl was already hella powerful why are they improving him" kind of deal.

I just don't like how this direction with Strikers is going, they seem to have a much higher skill cap then anyone else except for maybe the Sharp Shooters. It already seems like Assault makes Tank and Gunner feel like they are very lacking overall.

No reason to buff his shotgun like that, but it could have been worse. He's not free this week anyway so I won't see him as often. I'm more upset about them removing the level 1 speed endorsements. I'm gonna feel sooooo slow.

Oh, in case you were wondering what the endorsements were before these changes,

Achille's Bacon: Health -> Accuracy
Dr. Trigger Bacon: Reload Speed -> Max Health
Ammo Mule Bacon: Accuracy -> Health Regen
Iturba Bacon: Health Regen -> Reload Speed

In all, seems like a buff to Achille's and Iturba and a nerf to Dr. Trigger and Ammo Mule.

I think they're saying that his alt-fire recovers based on you doing damage/using skills, kinda like the converse of the way you get juice. Would be a good way to do it.

Yeah, I honestly feel like this is a very bad idea and hope it's not their final plan. Starting with a full set of endorsements, even if they're all level 1s, helps make it feel like you can compete with people who have been playing a long time. Keep it like this, and players seriously can get a real competitive edge by paying.

Also, those do sorta look like Karl nerfs to me. Reducing the radius from 768 to 512 actually turns out to be around a 55% reduction in the actual area of it. I don't think increasing the force at earlier ranks makes up for that.

Well, it changes what it's useful for. If you're trying to use it to disperse attackers who are close up on you, then it has become more useful in that situation. if you're trying to jump down onto one of the annihilator disc areas and knock away every person on it, it sounds like you probably can't do that now. I guess it sounds like it makes it generally more effective defensively. However, if you're good enough to make pinpoint strikes with it, they'll be stronger, too.

Comrayn posted:

The only thing I can really think of is that they're going to let you sell them for around the same price any other level 1 endorsement, letting you slot yourself how you want.

Ouch, that knockback range nerf on Prop hop has me hurting.

That's the different between knocking a guy back before he in grapple range to knocking a guy back who basically IS in grapple range.

I'm also curious (read: worried) about the handler change, regardless of people spouting 'It's useless compared to buddies' it had uses that were fantastic, like harassing snipers and smashing deployed gunners overlooking annihilators.

That sounds a lot more like how it was in MNC - if you got into very close quarters with a Support, he could blow you straight to hell with the shotgun, otherwise he had to rely on teammates/airstrikes/his turret.

Looks like a solid patch. Hopefully matchmaking doesn't take an annoyingly long time. Seems like it would make PUGs a lot more fun.
