Megabeth's damage is only good up close where she can hit you with Whirling Derbish. Her rockets are actually not that fantastic and pretty easy to dodge.

Unfortunately she's always up close because she can push a lane like no one else.

I dunno, I just haven't really seem a super effective Megabeth since her nerfs. I've even seen one of the best TF2 soldier players in the world play her and he does merely okay. Honestly, her damage just isn't reliable or fast enough to be a really good striker.

Oh, and Assault pushes the lane way faster than Megabeth does.

I really like this idea. Every other stun move in the game doesn't work against players, so why should Karl's? Immobilize would still provide Karl the same advantages of easily shooting the enemy up, but at least they can shoot back.

As a Karl I can support this idea. It still leaves them totally vulnerable to whatever hosed up thing you or a team-mate wanted to do to them, you just have to use a modicum of skill to make sure they don't kill you first. I bet it'd feel a lot more "fair".

We were a team of 4, and when we saw his name popup up at the bottom "has joined the lobby" we were really hoping he was solo queuing and would end up on our team.

Simskiller is a much better Megabeth than me, but I spent like the last 10 minutes almost exclusively taking down Jackbots. Also, I don't think Simskiller makes much use of the right click laser targetting for backdooring turrets.

Also, I am a really poor player against Vets. I think he caused most of my 10 deaths.

I've been trying to play Tank and the worst thing about it is that his big rear end body is Klaw bait. I guess Gunners would suffer from that too, but at least they can sometimes slam out of it.

How do other MOBAs balance the strength of snares?

Making them cost mana and not having them on 2 second cooldowns.

Snare is always used to mean an effect that slows players movement speed. Same as stun always means the same thing. Root means frozen in place, but able to use abilities.

What's the preferred way to play Megabeth? Lately I've been staying away from the Derbish since it used to be bad and I'm not great with it.

I like to do
1) Offense
2) Shoot the Moon
3) Disku
4) Offense
and then adapt based on situation.

It's sort of a rockets/disku glass cannon build.

Products are currently MoneyMag, Cant Slow This, and OverArmor.
Endos are not significant (Only level 30)

I love playing "Megablade" (build focused on health, shoot the moon, and whirling derbish) because it does absurd amounts of damage (except it's not actually good and you're wrecked if anyone grapples you). It's funny when it works, though.

Jumpy spunky is unironically the most amazing product in the game.

I got the jump on a gunner as Cheston and was smashing his health when suddenly he juiced and vanished. As I sat there scratching my head he came crashing down on top of me with slam and pancaked me. Turns out I had a quarter of a second of frame loss and missed his 'My planet needs me' exit.

I avoid Whirling Derbish because all the other upgrades play off each other a lot better, and play towards a distance rocket based gameplay very well, whereas making use of the spin attack puts me in situations I would rather handle from far away with rockets.

For products, Bot Buster is amazing on Megabeth, you should have the most bot kills by far as her, and she's very survivable between rocket jumps and Shoot the Moon, so you shouldn't lose that bonus much. I've heard that Critically Late on her is really good, as well. I haven't picked it up yet, but late game crit-rockets sound great.

There are all the usual tricks for Megabeth people recommend, like position yourself so you can hit bots from both lanes with rockets to maximize bot kills, using rocket jump to get high ground whenever you can, and backdoor bots and turrets whenever possible. What I haven't seen people do as much with Megabeth is make use of her right-click rocket tracking. You can hit players, bots, and turrets around corners, and hit assaults that won't get out of the air. It works especially well for protecting the Annihilator, fire some rockets into the air, and right click on the Annihilator platform. Rockets have a bit of knockback, so you'll interrupt people capturing it, as well. You can easily hit the moneyball and moneyball turrets from outside the glass shield using the same strategy, I've taken down a few moneyball turrets that way.

Only thing I'd add is that you should use nades instead of rifle at that range, much higher damage, especially since you're juiced.

I think the damage is comparable. Because I'm juiced, my shots are all crits, so I have no damage falloff. You definitely want to nade the Rock-It turrets, though, as they definitely do more damage to those.

Also, question: How hard can you carry?

There's something about products which is actively painful. I am 200 CC away from buying Can't Stun This, but it doesn't feel good. In fact, it feels bad. I feel like I'm forced to buy something that I'll almost never use, but need to buy because it's absolutely required in the situations that you will use it in. Products in general are just so powerful and game-changing that when you don't have the important ones, you simply feel non-competitive. I don't like that, and I never felt like that while going through the progression in League of Legends.

So, queue times with pretty much any premades 2-5 are terrible now with less than 100 players on east, so we tried a 2 man instead of 3. Instead we got a really blatant 4-man group that exploited because their numbers shot up then stalemated for quite a while, then pretty quickly went 8-9-10 once real solo queuers had our game as priority. We won, but they pretty much had no feeders and outdid in kills almost 3 fold and never blamed their team like you'd expect from a 2 man + 3 pubbies. The ones who joined really early also ended up on their team, so there wasn't much room for doubt.

I really like gunner, so here's what I wrote about him:

Eejit posted:

Defense, Missile, Offense, Missile, [Offense/Defense]*, Deploy, Missile, Offense, Defense > Deploy > Slam**

*Should be annihilator fight around level 5, choose whichever you need first, then choose the other at level 6.
**Usually slam is fine at level 1, but if you are being constantly harassed up close, get another rank a little earlier.

Products should definitely include money magnet. Lots of other choices, I like Critically Late with crit damage endorsements for lategame murdering. Alternatively, crit chance endorsements are legit too. Generous kill is also a decent option. Some of the new products are pretty solid for gunner as well. Don't bother with clip size endorsements, they are totally not worth it.

Missile is fantastic harass and upgrading earlier is a great way to dominate a lane, plus early levels decrease lock-on time. Not a trivial ability, spam the poo poo out of that skill. Minigun is generally your weapon of choice, but the mortar has no drop-off, respectable reload speed and decent damage as well. Protip: when you level up offense, you get a free reload.

Gunner requires good positioning to play well. He has no escapes and his only real CC is his butt slam, although that is pretty good. If you over-extend, you will die against good players. But if you're with a team that can protect you, you have amazing damage output.

Deploy is trickiest ability to use, but very useful as well. You immediately get 250 armor and have a regenerate armor radius while deployed that gives you and teammates armor. You are also immune to headshots. It's quite possible to out-armor harass. You also gain an accuracy bonus while deployed, so deploying just outside a turret's radius will help you burn it down really quickly. Of course, you can easily get out of position this way and die, so beware.

Gunner is basically DPS, pure and simple. You have plenty of HP to survive being in the middle of the action, but you rely on your team for support. A lone Gunner is a dead gunner. You scale ridiculously well into the end game, I feel like Gunner is the closest this game has to a hard carry. An important key to effectiveness is, as always, to keep pace with everyone else in terms of levels.

Gunner is pretty much my go-to enforcer, even though he's not super-amazing-OP. You just need to keep pace with everyone level-wise and stick with your team and the class kind of plays itself. You have great pushing power and are very effective in mid- to close-range engagements with your missile and mortar giving you longer-range firepower. Whereas Tank seems to be a lot more utilitarian with the ability to ambush and maneuver, Gunner doesn't really get any of that but does have incredible sustained damage. I don't really know what more to say, other than that Gunner is exceptionally straightforward, make sure to keep your level and farm up, and always stick with your team!

E: As to who has more potential in Cheston vs Gunner, I am not sure there's a right answer. Neither is really OP right now and they fulfill pretty similar roles. Cheston definitely has more maneuverability and his roar is more useful overall than gunner's deploy, but gunner also has better sustain and missile harass is better than the barrel. I would put butt slam above rampage any day, but Cheston does have the ability to melee and that's pretty good. I also think Cheston gets more HP overall. Gunner is by no means a glass cannon, but he's definitely not the best damage sponge compared to the other more burly enforcers.

Yeah, I've played Captain Spark some more and I can honestly say that he's probably one of the weakest characters in the game right now. Spark was nothing but his damage, and they gave it a pretty significant nerf. On top of that, they buffed Support, which means that double defender is rampant, and Spark simply cannot operate versus that sort of team (and could not even before his damage nerf).

Chronomaster
Sep 24, 2006

I wouldn't get why you would discourage Clip Size on Gunner, seeing as how he instantly benefits from even one Regular Clip Size endo. Maxed out, that puts him at 250/375 bullets, and it's really hard to argue with that many more bullets so I'd like to hear it.

If you can get it on him without harming your reload dramatically, I'd highly recommend it since it can mean another few seconds of fire. You should be microing Deploy between your reloads anyways so a slight loss to Reload Speed isn't going to hurt. His base reload speed is slow, so bringing that down won't benefit you as much in a fight as extra time shooting would.

What I'm trying to say is you shouldn't plan to reload mid-fight, and if you do, you should have a corner to do it behind. There are better ways to nullify the reload disadvantage Gunner has without weakening his strengths.
