Pretty much, yes.

The difference being that SMNC is still in closed beta and has a huge amount of whiners and fanboys that just won't do something else. It's not any different from what you'd expect to find in the TF2 thread(s), even before TF2 went free to play. I would like to think SMNC going free to play, ending beta, and attracting a much larger talent pool will help. Time will tell and I hope the community gets much better. It's already much less bad than some DOTA-likes. The game really is fun.

The biggest problem seems to be "people crapping on each other while learning the game" instead of any balance issues. No offense, vc. Your critiques may be true, but they mean jack-poo poo to someone who got an invite from a buddy yesterday.

You can't feed in original MNC at all. Even if you joined a game late, you started with enough money to buy at least a few skills so you weren't totally screwed when you joined a game. Dying really wasn't a big deal either, because you were never really that far behind. Especially if you were a class where you never used one skill (upgrading deploy on tank and gunner was pretty much asking for instant death one way or another).

The games aren't really that similar. MNC was more of a shooter with some moba elements, it was basically a team deathmatch with some interesting mechanics thrown in, skills plus bots and turrets you have to manage. SMNC is much more like a moba where laning and resource control is emphasized over deathmatch mechanics.

Unless they fixed it, no. Crack Shot activates on just about everything, so by the time you spin up your Minigun doesn't get that great of a bonus from it.

They're probably doing it to compensate for building towards RoF, or they're probably new and don't know about how Crack Shot behaves. Either way, it's the right idea, but the wrong application.

They're not even guaranteed broken, they just failed at the design and packaging of the statue in a hilariously fitting way.

It's more cost-effective to sell the product at a 95% discount with a "This will probably be broken" disclaimer than it was to sell it to people at full price & continually have to refund people because it broke in transit.

They were way way way too heavy and terribly designed so they would just fall apart during shipping because of some weak breakpoints.

If you do start playing this (I think they're starting to give passes away again), definitely hop on mumble/group chat and play with goons, or at least play with friends. The mechanics take a while to learn, and like other MOBAs people will get angry at you simply for being new.

Picked up one of the Tank statues too; the "typical" breaks look easy to fix, and the Tank is my favorite, most-played class. Some modelling glue, a vice, and a little bit of imagination should fix up that blue-collar dog in no time.

Also heck yeah I'd love to get onto some MNC goon times, even if that means losing in new, horrific manners.

Why my bullets no hit?

Giving this another shot after putting it down long ago for being way too different from MNC.

It took me +20 games before I realized you can heal from within your spawn point. I completely missed this since I thought you had to use the regintol vendors to restore health. I mean most maps seemed to have one laying around your moneyball and I easily lost focus on my spawn point since it looked like a generic bot spawner after leaving it .

Still not a fan of its more dota than action where MNC was more action than dota. Snowballing kinda making it stand out big.

They're both cheap as gently caress, so you might not even notice. It's crazy that they didn't do anything to Leo, as he still can sustain a team like the other two defenders.

I bet that change to Leo's heal charge fixes it pretty well. I wonder if it goes up the same amount per target or if it has some sort of dropoff.

I'm not looking forward to auto-locking Leos, especially with no Support or CGs free for the week. Guess I have a week of Supporting to look forward to.

Edit: It's still weird that they didn't touch on Leo's weaknesses at all this week. He's still not very appealing as a pro.

It's because of the horrible stomps that've been going on lately. I solo queue a lot and most of my games (at least 6 out of 10) are horrible stomps where fair-to-average players keep running across Level 90+ people that sustain themselves off of their tears. The money given from kill streaks guaranteed that these stomps would continue to snowball to the point where the opposing team could be three to four levels above.

I don't know if this will work towards preventing that, but I'd love to see more fair and even games since these stomps are what's driving new players away. I've been trying my best to teach new players what to do between spawns but it's hard to encourage them when most of their games have been utterly one-sided.

People are basically upset at snowballing teams which is mostly a result of huge skill gaps between them and not the game system itself letting one side get lucky. It's really wonky to me because they're nerfing all additional kill money sources like grapples, some reason nerfing nemesis kills which was a counter snowball mechanic (hello 2-3 deaths is not worth 25 gold to "exploit it" as a dev put it), and keeping normal kill rewards the same.

Well killstreak nerfs would give a slighty longer timeframe for the losing team to recover from. So it'll take a few more bots/kills before a severe level advantage is more apparent.

Much of the game is way too farm focused. Although the killstreak changes could make it that while someone can keep stomping people while they're ahead to keep'em down. It'll slowly cripple their overall farming and the losing team can scavenge money offa bots.

Coming from MNC myself I really hate the addition of "levels". Falling behind is drat punishing and really pushes away any action for more farming time.

Would be nice if coin gains for win/losses were normalized abit. Getting triple the coins for winning is pretty big.
