Violently Car posted:If you are last pick, and your team doesn't have a Support or a CG, and you pick something that isn't that, you are significantly worse than the player who never goes for the annihilator. The defender class is so inherently broken in this game that it should automatically instant lock the last picking player as one of these classes if no one has it. You didn't happen to just say something like that at the end of a match just now did you?

Vanderdeath posted:I find that the Assault is best at harassing and lane control. He can clear lanes like a champ and prey on weakened Pros like nobody's business. Whenever I play with him, I usually use Critically Late, Inspire and Money Magnet for my Products. MM isn't optimal for a Striker but soaking up a lot of coins early on nets you more EXP than people not using MM, so it's always a boon to have it in my opinion. The great thing about Money Magnet on the assault is that it, like most classes, it helps you stay slightly ahead of the levelling curve, particularly early on. And an overlevelled Assault is fast, powerful and deadly. This might be a ping issue but I've found charge nigh useless offensively, so I exclusively use it for escaping from a tight spot. I've put a few enhancements in my assault for crit chance, and even with the few I have now I found a noticable difference, gives you some great burst damage potential. And like Vanderdeath said, headcrabs are amazing, if you see someone grappling, always headcrab them, wait until the grapple breaks and then blow them up.

Likewise I play a mean Assault, but am restricted by timezones and pings.

It can also be productive to put a bomb on a spot you know an enemy will use as an escape route, for example the path past a turret, or behind the wall near their moneyball. It can help you finish off a fleeing opponent who otherwise would have escaped.

I just played my first match on the Australian servers, I was using the Veteran and it was a delightful improvement, since I could actually land Ka-Claws by aiming at people, as opposed to aiming where they will be 3 seconds from now. Not to mention actually being able to grapple them once I got close.

Any tips for how to deal with the Wascot as a Veteran? Right now I just spam eagle heads and try to keep my distance, which isn't great if I want to push a lane.

If everyone is overpowered, no one is.

It'll be interesting to see how much they can diversify future defenders if they stick to the turret, alpha strike, buff formula. A friend of mine suggested something with some kind of mobile bots to provide support to the theoretical pro. Hell, you could even try some interesting stuff like having all of the pro's attacks and healing from directing these bots, with a dedicated, low timer respawn ability.

More than any balance issues or anything, the lack of Mickey Cantor has really turned me off this game.

Yeah, doubtlessly the new guys will be entertaining enough. But I'll miss Mickey. So has Leo actually been released yet? My SMNC PC is out of commission right now, and I can't find any pictures of him beyond that Sniper bodied placeholder. Also I thought the Support was more or less Da Vinci already?

Hey guys, returning to SMNC for the first time in a few months, and I find myself unable to accept the new end user license agreement. The game keeps freezing up and doesn't recognise mouse movement even when responding while the agreement is displaying. I've tried verifyng my cache several times as well as restarting my computer. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? e: got past the agreement now, but I'm getting constant freezes approximately every second. To clarify the problems begin after I press "log in" Ran steam as administrator and it worked. Go figure. Roach Warehouse fucked around with this message at Apr 27, 2012 around 14:43 |

When playing as Karl on Downtown Spunky try heading down to the jungle when Bullseye is up, use the churros he drops to cover the annihilator in Juniors shortly before the fight for it begins. If anyone jumps down that hole, it won't be pretty for them.

At the risk of sounding like I'm bragging about inconsequential achievements, I went 19-0 for the first time on the Veteran recently, and it feels so much more satisfying to me than similar numbers on the Assault. I just love the ka-claw and the stool so much.

While I don't think I'll be returning to SMNC any time in the near future, I do remember having a lot of fun with it back in the day, despite its problems. Remember the thrill of Ka-clawing someone to certain doom, either via a bottomless pit or 3+ pros and a turret wailing on them?
