Oh man, I may just buy Megabeth to show my support for UberEnt. Also, I'm glad Commandos are getting toned down a bit. I'm a lousy Assassin and I can break 10k even in a losing match. It's ridiculous.

Two games in so far. Field report - Megabeth owns. I like her rockets. They're like Karl's Alt-fire; slow to start but as you level them, they gradually increase in speed. Her alt-weapon is a fast firing gun meant to finish off stragglers and her Whirling Dervish attack can eat groups alive if they're bunched up. I'm not keen on her discus thing just yet.

Megabeth is now my favorite Striker:
Constant knockbacks to escape assassins.

Rockets with wide splash damage + knockback on direct hit.
-Easily wipes out waves of bots without being in the fray.
Discu Stun making it even easier to control lanes.

Ricochet gun for spamming around corners to keep up the pressure on corner huggers.
Spin Kick dominates the annihilator on several maps (knockback + grapple immune).

Am I mistaken or do guns do more damage the further away you are from a target?

Perhaps I perceive her to be so useful in part because people haven't figured out how to counter her effectively yet.

Her rockets need some sort of balancing knockback wise, I agree. However, I think she's fine otherwise. She's no different than Assault or Karl when it comes to dominating lanes. Disuku or whatever is good for early turret stunning and the situational slowdown of some Pros and the Whirling Dervish attack -can- be grappled. I've been knocked out of it by Veterans a few times now.

There is no pay to win in SMNC. Each class cycle opens up a respective class in a certain category. You'll never have a cycle where there are no Defenders (Combat Girl or Support), Strikers (Assault, Karl or now Megabeth) or what have you. Each class role is always fulfilled, so there's no danger of that being there. The costs of buying a class is a bit steep, but I earned the coins to buy two classes after a few hours of gaming.

It does, however, suck that there is a cycle when there's such a limited amount of characters at the moment. I really wish the Endorsement and Product system was better and wasn't such a giant goddamn sink because right now it feels like an afterthought.

I would kill for them to release an SDK for MNC. I still think that game as some life left in it and user generated content would breathe new life into it.

Edit: I also miss the 'future gladitorial sport watched by millions' feel MNC had too. I hope they can turn that up in SMNC. I guess that's more of a preference than anything though.

I find that the Assault is best at harassing and lane control. He can clear lanes like a champ and prey on weakened Pros like nobody's business. Whenever I play with him, I usually use Critically Late, Inspire and Money Magnet for my Products. MM isn't optimal for a Striker but soaking up a lot of coins early on nets you more EXP than people not using MM, so it's always a boon to have it in my opinion.

I find that his grenade is deadly, too. With good aim, you can headcrab a grenade onto a person only to have them run off into their teammates for a well-placed explosion. Your grenade is also wonderful for lane control. Don't forget to use your Charge liberally on close Pros and to grenade launcher the lanes. The grenades have great bounce range and you can dominate corners like a monster.

Unrelated, but Taiso, your avatar makes me wish I could find my old VHS copies of Giant Robo.

I am pretty sure this wasn't in palce yesterday, and with the moon nerfs making her jump feel tiny as hell I don't know if I want to play her anymore.

Maybe she's still viable, but the knock back, reload, and what feels like a gigantic over the moon nerf I find her a lot less fun. I only played one game with her post-nerfs as I make this post, but the escape nerf just seems very unwarranted to me considering her kit as a whole now.

Yeah, the Shoot the Moon nerf and secondary weapon nerf are what hurt the most to me. She feels like she has way less utility than what she previously had.

I love the Support but I will agree that a Support and a Combat Girl can effectively win a game if they work in tandem. The only weakness the Support has is enclosed spaces but other than that, I always feel safer playing him than I do with any other class because he has a toolset for everything.

I think they need to make some sort of tutorial that teaches people what to do with an on-screen overlay or something. As it stands, new people have no idea what to do and the game is overwhelming. I invited a friend to the game and even with me telling him what to do over Ventrilo, he was just overwhelmed and didn't get a handle on the game. This could be remedied with a greater incentive to kill bots to teach people the basics.

God, they really need to fix the audio bug. Hearing Megabeth's 'See, everyone?' repeatedly is already making me dislike her. That and 'No nation or borders' or whatever the heck that means.

This seems like hyperbole, but what's the average prime time population now a days? I've pretty much shelved SMNC for a lot of reasons, and it doesn't seem like it's improved that drastically from what everyone has been posting.

Roughly 170 - 250 a day. A lot of this comes from how goddamned unfriendly people are to new players. I try my best to encourage people who are new to stick with it but when you have a cacophony of 'GET GOOD,' 'STOP FEEDING, (racial or homophobic epithet ), or any other slew of insults going, it scares new people off. I like the game and the company but they really, really need to make a tutorial mode or something for the new players.

The community is too goddamned insular right now. I pretty much know most of the good, very good and great players by name. I'm hoping this PAX patch (which they're promising is the biggest yet since they've been working on it for a while) is really drat good because while I'm pretty ride or die with this game and regularly play it with my friends, I don't see it growing without some sweeping changes.
