/////lesson{]" "///learned{]![]() ![]() The third and final season of Marble Hornets is drawing upon us, starting on March 10th, 2012. What is Marble Hornets? Marble Hornets was an indie movie being shot by Alex Kralie in 2006. During production, Alex became very angry and irrational towards his friends and cast members, eventually stopping production in full. He gave the production tapes to his friend Jay and instructed him to burn them and never speak of them again. In 2009, Jay found the tapes stored away in his closet, and thus the story began. Jay uploaded the videos online, and soon found out a strange figure was following Alex. You can discover what Jay discovered. Interested? Let's watch! At this point in the game, I would argue that using the Vortmax pages would be the best way to start on the series. It includes the main entries, ToTheArk (who you can read about below) videos, and tweets. Marble Hornets is sort of a multimedia experience. Season 1 Videos, Tweets and Responses Season 2 Videos, Tweets and Responses These guides include all the main links to the series, which are: MarbleHornets YouTube channel - This is where Jay uploads all the entries, and is the main part of the story. ToTheArk's YouTube channel - Very cryptic video responses arose after a few of Jay's first posts, this is the source for them. Jay's Twitter - This is where Jay communicates with us and informs of us new entries/what's going on outside of video postings. Also, Season 1 and 2 are available for purchase on DVD at this site. Help support a fantastic series ran by cool dudes. We also had threads for Season 1 and Season 2 here on SA. WARNING: There's major Season 1 and 2 spoilers from here until the end of my post!! ![]() Cast/Characters ![]() Jay is the protagonist of the story. His main concern is to find Jessica and find out what Tim is up to. ![]() Alex is the antagonist of the story, his condition in the current story is unknown, as he was in an altercation with Tim in the Season 2 finale involving a gun. It is believed he is in alliance with The Operator (and has had some connection with him from at least 1991), even on some occasions seemingly giving him bodies. It's unclear if he's acting on his own will. ![]() The Operator (or The Slenderman) is a mysterious figure that has been prominent from the start of the series. It seems as if he has had some connection to Alex since 1991. The Operator originates in the Create Paranormal Images thread. Some speculate that The Operator could be protecting Alex. ![]() Jessica is a character that was introduced in Season 2, having a hotel room next to Jay and similar memory loss. She is also a protagonist in the series. Her current location is unknown, she has been missing since 2011. She was Amy's friend and got caught up in what's going on due to Amy's relationship with Alex. Jessica has stated that she was having nightmares about being watched by The Operator as a child to Jay early in S2. ![]() Tim (or the Masked Man) was a cast member for Marble Hornets. His intentions are unclear and he could know the location of Jessica. It was revealed in Season 2 that he is indeed the Masked Man. Tim has been following Jay from Season 1 and has tried to kill Alex, which Alex responded by breaking Tim's leg. He was shown visibly limping in many entries in Season 2 from the injury. ToTheArk (or TTA) is a character(s) that has been uploading cryptic messages as responses to Jay's videos. Tim definitely has a hand in the channel, but Jay has implied on Twitter that TTA could be ran from multiple people. Some think Jessica could be another poster for the channel starting later in Season 2. Brian was a cast member for Marble Hornets as well. It's assumed he was killed towards the end of the production, although it hasn't been confirmed. Amy has only been shown in the Season 1 finale and her current location is unknown. She is Alex's girlfriend. Seth was on the production staff for Marble Hornets and has not been seen since Season 1. It's unclear rather he's alive or dead. Seth and Amy are characters we know the least about. Other info: IRC channel for discussions about new releases - #MarbleHornets on synIRC. I'll be trying to keep this as up to date as possible throughout everything. Forte fucked around with this message at Feb 22, 2012 around 05:16 |

To me it feels like this entry had the best acting (minus Jessica) in the whole series. Everything felt very natural and Tim's pretty convincing. Even Alex sounded more comfortable.

It's more than likely just a set-up for Jay and Tim going to that building in current time. Hopefully we get a TTA response that adds content on to this one.

I actually really liked that entry. BONES was written over the door outside building #1. As well as an operator symbol on one of the pillars. There was a visual line tear that was consistent when he approached an poked around the maintenance tunnel. Not sure if that indicated that Slendy was VERY close or just a cool effect they did. Tim said "I've had enough of that place for a lifetime", this is the biggest clue we've had that Tim remembers more then he lets on. He also smirked when Jay asked him to take him to the abandoned buildings in the first place. This could have been a set up for Tim to lead him to SkiMasky, but we'll see. This could also be a time for the reveal of who or one of the people that TTA is, it'd be neat if the next TTA was SkiMasky filming Jay and Tim. Edit: Was just thinking back on some of us Goons sitting around speculating what the bullet and pills meant in season 1. It's cool to think about how far this series has come from inception and how many nights I've stayed up before days I have to work to watch the new videos. As much as it makes me sad it'll be ending soon, I'm so proud of those dudes for keeping with it. Forte fucked around with this message at May 22, 2012 around 06:40 |

Tiamat posted:Could the second burnt-out building be the psych ward of the hospital? Could Slendy be the result of some kind of psych experiment gone wrong? Would sort of work with the hospital being the site where this all began plus the memory loss/personality changes. Eh I think they've hinted a few times that they wouldn't explain what the Operator is on the DVD commentary.

After a season+ of build-up that was well worth the wait. Tim can loving act man. I can see why Troy said he was nervous about shooting this entry.

Well I'm now 99% certain that SkiMasky is TTA. They've written this out really well in the fact that there's still no way to know rather or not Tim's a good guy or bad guy so far, even if he's been lying.

I feel like the most important piece of information was the fact that after he ran away he ended up in Rosewood Park in 1995, the probably now most consistent area in the MH universe.

Not enough plot?
Considering this was a nine minute video I think they did pretty well with shooting it in the woods with a single plot device. It's also pretty apparent that there will probably be a TTA that continues this or happens during this very soon.

Not to knock Brian in any way, but SkiMasky is very skinny in comparison, I figure if it was Brian they'd get Brian to wear the costume.Pharmaskittle posted:Yeah, the point of the episode is that Jay and (regular) Tim are probably going to Scooby Doo this poo poo together now. Docjowles posted:Seth, Brian and Amy all disappeared forever immediately after encountering the Operator, as far as we know. Jessica and Sarah are both missing as well. We don't know what he does to people, but it seems to be bad. Not to mention he sucked Jay in and erased his memory, making literally the entire plot for season 2.

It's amazing how much the call from Alex meant considering it was one phrase. Although it was short, it was well written in the fact that you still don't know if that was a "I know the Operator is coming, so you need to get out" or a "I'm pissed, if you don't leave I'll send the Operator after you" kind of thing. It keeps the mystery around Alex intact and reintroduces him really well. We're in for one hell of a TTA entry I think. I hope anyway. Falls Down Stairs posted:They've promised a real ending with answers and if they don't follow through I'm going to be a mad baby. They've implied that they may not explain the Operator fully (which I really hope they don't), but there will be an ending for the characters. If the time matches up Jessica should be back by now, as I think on the DVD commentary they said she'd be gone for a year. Also I'm making my Tim mask for Halloween as we speak.

Was the body on the ground in the crazy slender-world the dude Alex killed?! Also I think Tim's going to show Jay what was behind those doors.

This is probably the most important entry since the first season. I completely understand why it took so long to shoot. I'm going to write out some of what we've seen with time stamps during what we've seen while Tim was in what someone before me dubbed "Slender-world". 01:17 - Tim gets dumped in the water, during this time as he's swimming you can see the outlines of the pipe. 01:37 - One of the best transitions in the series, Tim seemingly runs out of the water and is back in Rosewood Park. 01:53 - Tim has another convulsion fit. Crazy distortion. 02:03 - Back in the Slender-world, Tim screaming under a red light of some kind. Operator seen at the end of a hallway at what looks like the hospital. 02:07 - Tim lays on the ground coughing up blood further away from the red light. 02:27 - Endless drowning again. 02:30 - Something drags Tim through the woods, afterwards he is shown hanging on a branch and falls down. 02:43 - Running around looking for Jay, runs back into - 02:56 - Slender-world, the body the Operator took is laying on the ground. Timeline wise this happened a long time ago so the fact that the body is here and intact is pretty crazy. 03:15 - Drowning again, these sequences make me feel so uneasy. Comes out at the park. Tim gets transported back to his car. It looks to me like every time Tim was swimming he was transitioning out of the "Slender-world", and kept getting pulled back in. I think Tim hitting the "he is a liar" with the pipe was symbolizing it was time to come clean with Jay, and I think whatever Tim needs to show Jay is behind those doors in the hospital. The age old mystery of the pills have yet to be answered, but who knows, he could explain that in the next entry too. I disagree that Tim is possessed at the end of the entry, I think he's just trying to get his poo poo together.

precision posted:I mean, yes, you could make up an explanation but I think it's a hard point to argue against that this season is completely different from season 1 since in season 1 they didn't intend (as far as I know) to tell an actual story with a narrative and things that aren't just weird for no reason. I wouldn't believe them if they said as much, which I doubt they would. In one of the season's DVD commentary they mentioned that a lot of the first season had things they put in that wont be addressed again, like the bullet and stuff like that. They've also mentioned somewhere that the ending has changed/major plot points have changed since seasons 1 and 2. There was a story written from the start but it's changed drastically. Originally there was only going to be two seasons. TTA wasn't even supposed to still be around now, they had said that they planned on axing all of that. So yeah, needless to say things are different now and they've acknowledged that. This isn't really directed at you, but I feel like people forget that this isn't a NBC serial or something, it was a pet project on YouTube that got really popular (and I'm sure they didn't know it would be this big, entry 1 has over three million views, I remember when it had 500) and they decided to do something more with it. Over the years they've gotten better equipment and themselves better at acting and story telling. I understand that it sucks that some of the cooler things they came up with aren't around anymore, but I'm happy they didn't force themselves to half-rear end stuff to explain it.
