Idaho stay has been denied!

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A federal magistrate judge has refused to put gay marriages on hold in Idaho pending an appeal from the state's governor.

U.S. District Magistrate Judge Candy Dale wrote Wednesday morning that Gov. C.L. "Butch" Otter's appeal isn't likely to succeed, and so there's no reason to keep same-sex couples from seeking marriage licenses or marrying on Friday.

On Tuesday, Dale struck down Idaho's same-sex marriage ban in response to a lawsuit from four Idaho couples.

Dale said Idaho's law unconstitutionally denies gay and lesbian couples their fundamental right to marry and wrongly stigmatizes their families. She said the state must start issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples Friday morning.

Gay marriage is legal in 17 states and the District of Columbia.

Otter has vowed to appeal the ruling.

The definition of marriage, like the sanctity of human life, is seen in the natural or moral law. The decisions of courts can ignore it, they can even attempt to suppress it, but they will never eradicate it." - Tony Perkins

This is just like a fine wine from Tony Perkins

quote:

Idaho Ruling Hardly Small Potatoes

If anyone can handle a political hot potato, it's Idaho. Still, that didn't make Tuesday's decision on marriage any easier for its deeply conservative voters, who unwillingly joined the parade of states overruled by the judicial elite. Reporters barely had time to exhale after Friday's Arkansas decision, when U.S. District Magistrate Judge Candy Dale sent them packing for the northwest to write the same story in a different state.

For the 12th time since the U.S. Supreme Court ruled last summer, a local judge felt empowered to bulldoze the will of an entire state, declaring a "fundamental right to marry" that even the justices didn't acknowledge. In Boise, the ruling stings a bit more than others, since unlike the courts' other victims, Idaho had overwhelmingly voted for an amendment that wouldn't recognize any form of counterfeit marriage -- including domestic partnerships and civil unions. Making matters worse, Dale inflicted this damage as a magistrate, well exceeding her authority and outraging 63% of voters who never believed it was her decision to begin with.

"Marriage," she writes, "is a fundamental right of all citizens, which neither tradition nor the majority may deny." Dale insisted that the amendment's defenders, who argued that natural marriage is in our children's best interest, couldn't justify the "rigid gender roles of the past." Governor C.L. Otter (R) disagrees and, with the help of state attorney general Lawrence Wasden, raced to ask the federal court for a stay. Without it, clerks across the state will be ordered to start issuing same-sex "marriage" licenses as early as Friday morning.

"In 2006, the people of Idaho exercised their fundamental right, reaffirming that marriage is the union of a man and a woman. Today's decision, while disappointing, is a small setback in a long-term battle that will end at the U.S. Supreme Court. I am firmly committed to upholding the will of the people and defending our Constitution." As are our friends at Alliance Defending Freedom, who, in the midst of the Idaho decision, were a dozen states away in Richmond, Virginia trying to stop the Fourth Circuit from overturning a similar amendment. All eyes were on the Commonwealth, which became a rallying cry for liberals when state attorney general Mark Herring refused to defend Virginia's law.

The three-judge panel, which seemed to sharply disagree on whether the amendment was constitutional, listened attentively to both sides' arguments, as more than 500 natural marriage supporters, including FRCA's Josh Duggar, rallied on the grounds out front. In a lighter moment, Circuit Judge Paul Niemeyer joked that the court was just a "way station" as the issue moved up the road to Washington, D.C.

Liberty Counsel sees a GAY PANDEMIC if Michigan okays gay marriage

quote:

The Liberty Counsel yesterday filed a brief with the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals in which they claim that Michigan must not allow same-sex marriage because it would somehow increase the incidence of STDs.

Not only is there no bodily good or function toward which two same-sex bodies can coordinate, but there are in fact inherent harms associated with same-sex unions. For example, homosexual males are at exponentially higher risk of developing a variety of sexually transmitted diseases, and have increased risks of developing various cancers and medical conditions because of the nature of same-sex sex. The personal, social and financial costs of these homosexual-specific health problems concern not just those who engage in homosexual activity, but also the larger community of citizens who help provide services and who must bear part of the burdens imposed by the health challenges. It would be rational for the voters of Michigan to seek to minimize the deleterious effects of these conditions on public health, safety and welfare by affirming that marriage in Michigan remains the union of one man and one woman.

Suicide watch: Brian Brown edition

quote:

AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) — A national anti-gay marriage group that helped defeat Maine's same-sex marriage law in 2009 may be fined more than $50,000 and ordered to reveal its donors, after an ethics investigation released Monday found that it violated the state's campaign finance law.

Investigators with the Maine Ethics Commission said that the National Organization for Marriage's failure to register as a ballot question committee and file campaign finance reports while playing a central role in the referendum was a "significant violation of the law."

They also recommended that the commission order the group to file campaign finance reports with the state reflecting contributions and expenditures in support of the referendum.

"Maine people deserve to know who is funding political campaigns to influence their vote," the report said.

NOM said Monday that the investigation's findings were wrong and maintained that it fully complied with Maine law. The commission will consider the issue at a May 28 hearing and the organization said it will appeal if Maine rules it must pay the fine and submit a report.

NOM gave nearly $2 million to Stand for Marriage Maine, a political action committee, representing 64 percent of the PAC's total expenditures, the report said. State law requires groups to register as ballot question committees if they raise or spend more than $5,000 to influence a state ballot question.

Gay marriage became legal in Maine after a second referendum in 2012.

Investigators found that NOM received enough contributions through email solicitations that discussed the group's efforts to fight the law in Maine to qualify as a ballot question committee.

The report also said that NOM members had "critical leadership roles" in the campaign and made that clear to donors. Brian Brown, then-executive director of NOM, was one of three members of the committee that led the Stand for Marriage Maine PAC.

NOM has been fighting in Maine courts to keep its donor list secret for several years, arguing that revealing it could have a chilling effect on contributors.

NOM contends that none of the contributions were earmarked specifically to fight Maine's gay marriage law and says it returned all contributions made by those who tried to designate them for the state's referendum.

The group, which has fought same-sex marriage laws across the country, says that it's being targeted by Maine despite the fact that several groups on the other side of the issue — like the Human Rights Campaign, GLAD and the Maine People's Alliance — took similar actions.

"This is a witch hunt. It's an attempt to go after a group like NOM because of its position on marriage," said Brown, now president of the Washington, DC-based organization.

Mr Ice Cream Glove
Apr 22, 2007

quote:

Dear Marriage Supporter,

Another victim of the supposedly harmless same-sex 'marriage' movement has been hit with official state sanctions for refusing to sacrifice his beliefs in the truth of marriage.

You may recall that Colorado baker Jack Phillips, owner of Masterpiece Cakeshop in Lakeview, declined to bake a "wedding" cake for a gay couple who were 'married' in Massachusetts and wanted to hold a reception in Colorado to celebrate the union. Phillips, a committed Christian, explained that his religious beliefs prevented him from participating in a same-sex ceremony because it is contrary to the biblical definition of marriage. The homosexual couple sued and last week the state came down on the Christian baker.

Not only has the Christian baker been ordered to "cease and desist" from "discrimination" against gay couples, but he and his staff have been ordered to undergo two years of "training" to assure that no further "discrimination" occurs. The baker must report quarterly to the state Civil Right Commission about how it is changing its policies, its "training" progress and the names of any clients it has refused to serve.

The movement to redefine marriage was once said to be about "tolerance and acceptance." Today it is about tyranny.

Anyone who continues to think that redefining marriage won't affect you or your children is just not paying attention. It already affects every American, and this will only continue to get worse. Oh, sure, you'll always be free to hold a belief about marriage, but if that belief ever impacts your actions as a citizen, you can expect the full force of government to come down to crush you.

It's only when citizens stand up to tyranny and speak truth to power, that truth can prevail. Please see the video we released recently promoting the March for Marriage on June 19th, and do your best to spread it wide and far. And if you can join us in Washington on June 19th, we welcome you!

Faithfully,

Brian S. Brown

So this just came across my radar

The End of GOP Proud

http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2014/06/07/The-End-of-GOProud

quote:

When we founded GOProud in 2009 people thought we were nuts. We wanted to provide a strong voice for gay conservatives and their conservative allies. We had this crazy idea that you could have a group that represented gay and straight people that was authentically conservative. We had this crazy idea that maybe there was room for one gay group that would talk about the issues that REALLY impact gay Americans--jobs, the economy, taxes, retirement security, and healthcare--and do some from a strongly conservative place.

We set out to challenge conventional wisdom and show the world that all gays aren’t left-wing liberals AND all conservatives aren’t anti-gay homophobes.

We also set out to do it our way.

We learned a lot from a lot of people over our four years at GOProud, but one of the most important lessons we learned was from our late friend and ally Andrew Breitbart. Andrew was a conservative trail-blazer who preached the importance of not ignoring pop culture, Andrew wanted to take the conservative fight to every corner of this country and every medium. Andrew also taught us another valuable lesson. For most of our time in politics were constantly told “you can’t say that,” “you can’t do that,” “you might offend someone,” “what will people think,” and “that’s not the way we do things.” Then along came Andrew Breitbart. Breitbart did it his way--loud, fearless, and in your face. He inspired people like us to forget all of the old rules in politics--speak your mind, fight like hell and don’t waste one second worrying about what other people think about you.

And that is exactly what we did and it is exactly why we were so successful.

There are those who criticized us for being "too controversial"--the truth is the success of GOProud was premised on controversy. Indeed, the very idea of GOProud--a group of gay conservatives and their conservative allies--was controversial.

Like our friend Andrew, and like our friend and ally Ann Coulter, we understood that fighting the conventional wisdom and speaking your truth will always ruffle feathers. We are proud, that over the years, we ruffled a lot of feathers on the left and the right.

Nearly everything we did was innovative and pushed the envelope, and there is a ton of evidence of our success. For instance, one of the first things we did was to champion a proposed concealed carry reciprocity amendment to the infamous federal hate crimes bill in 2009. We said that if you truly want to prevent people from becoming victims of violent crime, then allow them to lawfully defend themselves!

The gay-left was relentless in their attacks on us. We had the audacity to embrace a word that they used as a derogatory term for gay conservatives--‘Homocon.’ That’s what we named our signature annual event, and then liberal heads exploded when we asked Ann to headline our first ‘Homocon’ in New York in 2010.

Later that year, we made history as the first national gay organization to run a television ad against Democrats. Our ad embraced pop culture by parodying ‘The Real Housewives" television show, and we ran it on Bravo and Lifetime to target gay and women voters. Top Washington consultants poo-pooed our strategy, then they were silenced when "The Real Democrats of Washington" ad was rated the best of the 2010 election cycle by Frank Luntz’s focus group on the Hannity Show.

Our 2012 "Homocon" event was at the GOP Convention in Tampa. Did we host a traditional convention reception with wine and cheese and white table clothes? No. In true GOProud style, we rented out the largest gay nightclub in town and our 900+ guests danced the night away as male and female go-go dancers fired off confetti cannons! We showed the country that conservatives are hip and fun!

The most famous of our successes was the “controversy” surrounding GOProud’s sponsorship at CPAC. Over the 3 1/2 years that issue raged, we made many many friends in the conservative movement, Andrew being one of them. Those relationships, from across the movement, confirmed for us that the work we did made an very important contribution toward building a stronger, modern conservative movement that is culturally diverse and connected.

This week the news broke that the new leadership is closing GOProud. We are incredibly proud of the work we did in our four years at GOProud and incredibly honored to have gotten to work side-by-side with so many amazing friends and allies within the conservative movement. For us, the end of GOProud is certainly bittersweet. But the end of the entity is not the end of the mission, nor is it the end of the work that gay and straight conservatives will continue to do to build a stronger movement and a better country.

Chris Barron and Jimmy LaSalvia are the founders of GOProud, formerly a national organization for gay conservatives and their allies.

Remember how Texas GOP just placed ex-gay "therapy" on their platform?

http://www.splcenter.org/get-informed/news/judge-rules-in-favor-of-splc-clients-conversion-therapy-practitioners-potentially-

quote:

A judge has ruled that a New Jersey conversion therapy organization is potentially liable for the costs to repair the damage it inflicted on four young people by using dangerous and discredited efforts it claimed can convert people from gay to straight.

New Jersey Superior Court Judge Peter F. Bariso Jr. ruled today that Jews Offering New Alternatives for Healing (JONAH) and its co-defendants may be liable for three times the amounts the four men paid for subsequent, legitimate therapy to repair the psychological damage caused by JONAH’s conversion therapy program. JONAH’s program included nude sessions with counselors and “father-son holding.”

“These self-proclaimed experts inflicted grave damage upon our clients, who believed JONAH’s claims that it could ‘cure’ them of being gay,” said David Dinielli, SPLC deputy legal director. “These young men were left with guilt, shame and frustration. No amount of money can fix the damage JONAH caused, but recognizing that JONAH can be held accountable for the cost of repairing that damage is an important step.”

Also on the gently caress Texas front
http://watchmen-news.com/2014/06/03/its-time-for-the-men-of-houston-to-occupy-the-womens-bathrooms/

quote:

The city of Houston has been taken over by the Gaystapo and its homosexual leader Mayor Annise Parker. It wasn’t enough to elect a self-proclaimed lesbian as the mayor of the city. The City Council, in an 11-6 vote, has now shoved the gay agenda done the throats of the people of Houston and those who visit the city in one of the most absurd and ominous laws ever written. So what should be done? A petition drive has been started to get the needed 17,000 signatures to force a citywide referendum to repeal this ordinance. This must be done before the June 30th deadline. If you live in Houston and attend a church, put pressure on your pastor, deacons, and elders to secure signatures. In the meantime, the men of the city should occupy the women’s bathrooms in the name of “equal rights.” If you are asked why you are there, just say, “I think of myself as a woman today.” Maybe after this happens enough the women of Houston will rise up in protest.

At one point in the film, a pastor is speaking to a huge group of men and women and showing them gay scat porn and explaining that the gays want to do this to their children. "This political gesture reflects the president's repeated disregard for the legislative process. Congress has not passed the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA) or similar provisions, despite activists' pressure to do so, because of the detrimental impact on employers' and employees' constitutional freedoms of religion, speech, and association. Historically, these kinds of provisions have not been applied to conduct-based distinctions that are not found in the Constitution.

"Today's announced executive order will give activists a license to challenge their employers whenever they feel aggrieved, exposing those employers to threats of costly legal proceedings and the potential of jeopardizing future contracts. Furthermore, by requiring federal contractors to consider characteristics and behaviors related to a person's sexual orientation or gender identity, this policy will make contractors liable for protecting actual or perceived self-disclosed and fluid identities that may not even be known.

"The timing of this announcement is clearly designed to curry favor with activist organizations. While the president prepares to address a New York gathering of gay rights supporters, the American people will be left to sort out the costs to religious and constitutional liberties resulting from this executive order." - Family Research Council vice president Peter Sprigg, via press release.

Concerned Women For America

quote:

WASHINGTON, D.C. — According to White House officials, President Barack Obama is expected to sign an executive order to deny federal contracts to companies and non-profits that treat homosexuality differently from heterosexuality. Concerned Women for America Legal Counsel, Mario Diaz, responds below:

“This is yet another example of what little regard President Obama has for the American people and our form of government. Democracy, once again, gets in the way of his personal preferences, and so he disregards it with little concern for the long-term implications of his actions. He does not help the ‘LGBT’ movement with his dictator-like actions, but only continues to divide and demonize people of faith who continue to believe as he claims he did not too long ago.

“It is the most basic of American beliefs that every citizen should be free to practice their religion free from government intervention. But President Obama insists on punishing those who do not move along with him in his views on homosexuality and marriage to the point that he is willing to use the force of his executive power to violate the Constitution he swore to uphold.

“We are not at all surprised at this development though, for he has done it before, to the point of forcing poverty-stricken nuns to violate their religious beliefs to pay for abortion-inducing drugs. How pathetic is that? This administration has fought the Little Sisters of the Poor on their objection to the Health and Human Services Mandate all the way to the Supreme Court. They would do so on this issue, also.

“It is a sign of the President’s radicalism, but also a testament of his poor leadership that he is unable and unwilling to engage Congress and the American people in a meaningful, civilized and respectful conversation and debate on these issues that are so important to us all. It is sad that he instead feels the need to game the system to impose his will on the nation by executive action.”
