I'm willing to bet that the stunt they pulled will end up hurting the company, as their declaration of opposition to gay marriage only brought out the most hardcore of retards who would actually go out and publicly support gay bashing by buying loving fast food. After all this dies down, the company will have permanently lost a very large group of customers who sure as hell aren't going to be caught dead supporting an openly bigoted fast food chain, especially one that pulls very public stunts like this.

We have people desperately defending their right to stuff their gullet by way of a corporation that was heavily involved in homophobic activity, only they maybe choose not to? What? Aren't medicaid provisions decided by individual states though? New York I know in particular has a godawful system where various private companies provide the insurance and the government pays for it. Transgender care in NY of any kind is also specifically denied through their medicaid.

I wasn't old enough to understand any of this stuff at the time, but was signing DOMA and DODT into law an actual plan Democrats had to keep gay rights from sliding even further back? Or were they just signing onto them because they agreed with them (or for other reasons)? I can't imagine many politicians giving a crap about gay rights back then, much less having some sort of master plan for keeping The Gays out of the proverbial shitter.

Thinking of gay marriage as a sign of the apocalypse is more of a convenience thing for crazy people, I believe, because they really really want the apocalypse to come and this is the next cool thing to latch onto that will supposedly bring it about. The end of the world has been "predicted" roughly a zillion times now, and this is just yet another opportunity for those who have less than a firm grasp on reality to try to feel good about themselves.

I would agree if Prestor was saying conservatives are like this and conservatives are like that, but that's not what's happening. Prestor is specifically describing the much smaller subset of right-wing authoritarians, who are known for being some of the most intractable shitheads on the planet. These are the people who are the "loud minority" of conservatives who feel the need to throw a tantrum about every little thing or post on freerepublic.com
