I really can't get into the third gen of Skins, the first gen was near perfect and although the second one was a bit over the top at times and the cut-short finale really suffered I cared about the characters. The third gen does very little for me.

Andie and Jack McPhee are such a breath of fresh air, it's nice to have characters besides Pacey that aren't so self involved. Andie's personality in particular is such a nice contrast from everyone's perma-brooding state, and her own problems are just so much less petty than the rest of the gang. Also, I love love love Abby. She's so delightfully evil and is like a tornado of chaos that just consumes everything in her way.

Andie unfortunately goes from being ten types of awesome to 'why are you still on this show?' throughout the season. I really liked her in the beginning of season two, but I can't understand why the writers would do what they did to her character. Also, she's 30 playing a 17 yr old ![]() Season 3 is by far the best season. Dawson sort of fades into the background and Pacey turns into the real star of the show. Now I want to rewatch season 3.

Don't know if that's the same scene but Dawson and Andie were drunkenly singing at a blues bar and it was pretty awful. The show really does turn from Dawson's Creek into the Pacey and Joey show. Keep watching because you'll just hate Dawson more and more as you continue watching, which is a shame because James Van Der Beek is a cool dude. And defines the Ugly Cry.

Dance Academy is something I'm working my way though on Netflix. The show takes place in Australia and is about a girl named Tara and her trials at a ballet school. It's rather cute. Here's the Wiki page if anyone's interested: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dance_Academy Netflix has recently added Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Angel, and Charmed to instant streaming. Hopefully Dawson's Creek will be added soon. I haven't seen it since I was in high school.

I'll add Fifteen to the list. A truly awful show with a young Ryan Reynolds and Laura Harris. Here's the second episode. It had bad clothes, bad writing, and bad acting. So, I pretty much had to catch it whenever it was on because I loved to hate this show.

I've been devouring Gossip Girl since I got Netflix ont he 360. I'm not sure why I like it, since I can't stand the scene or half the characters, but I'm constantly intrigued by Chuck and sometimes Blair inspires me (which is probably a terrible thing). If I had the choice to live in Gossip Girl Land or 90210 Land, gimme California any day. Speaking of, has 90210 finished in the US yet? I'm an episode or so behind, I think. I heard people weren't happy about the way it was going on Twitter, and people suggesting it won't get picked up for a new series. Which sucks, since it's my current teen drama crack.

Yes 90210 was picked up. ![]() I'm curious as to how far along you are with Gossip Girl. It just completed its 5th season, so you've got a ways to go if you just started. What do you think of the characters? Do you support a particular pairing yet? At one point you'll probably be pissed off with the characters. They also recycle plotlines.

Blair's easily my favorite GG character (though I haven't watched the 5th season yet and won't 'til it shows up on Netflix) but man, her storylines are giant merry-go-rounds. Blair dates guys to make Chuck jealous! Blair thinks she's in love with a rich/powerful European man! Blair is angry at/jealous of Serena for getting all the attention!

I'm only a few episodes into S2, and I honestly have no idea what happens in the later seasons so it's quite fun speculating. I'm currently watching Chuck and Dan become bffs, and I'm kind of really rooting for that because I like unlikely friendships and it'd be nice to see a side of Chuck that isn't "I'm a giant cock." Serena actually annoys me more than the others, really. She seems to revolve her life around bad decisions, I LIKED her and Dan but if I were Dan I'd have gotten tired a long time before he did. Oh, actually one pairing I did adore, but it's being washed over already so I guess it never becomes a very real thing, is Nate and... Girl Who's Name I Forget. :/ Dan's old friend, I love her (despite forgetting her name entirely). I absolutely love that relationship, or what little I've seen of it so far. I think Nate is one of my favourite characters, he won me over the moment he helped Dan out with university applications in the early episodes. Anyway, I've been marathoning the show so I'll be all caught up in no time, I expect. When I run out, what other good teen dramas can you find on Netflix that folks would recommend? I've seen all of 90210 and Greek (<3), tried an episode of... Hidden Palms? but didn't really click with it. Actually, I just spotted My So-Called Life, which I LOVED as a kid, so I might rewatch that one.

Haha, well I guess it wasn't her specifically but her + Nate was fun. Like I said, I like "unlikely friendships/relationships" stuff. I want Chuck/Dan bff to materialise for the same reasons. I've never been a fan of Jenny, she seems to be "the golden child" who gets away with everything somehow, even when you think she won't. Currently on S2E7, she's a 15 year old out of school working as a fashion intern who keeps getting In Deep poo poo yet comes out smelling of roses. I vaguely remember really liking the first and third seasons of Roswell, and kind of tuned out when they started emphasizing the more sci-fi elements in the second season. Not sure how it'd hold up for me now, but drat Jason Behr sure does have some abs. The Creek also had a nice callback, Behr was a recurring character in season two that just randomly disappeared and someone mentioned they were missing Roswell on the telly in the third season. Speaking of the Creek, about midway through season 3 now, and my main character hate has shifted from Dawson to Joey. Holy poo poo did they ramp up her judgemental bitch dialogue so far, and she keeps such a tight leash on Dawson's balls even though she's the one who told him off at the end of season two. Pacey continues to remain awesome, I like Jen so much more as a character now that she's grown into herself, I don't hate Andie as much as some of y'all seem to, and Jack's still dreamy. Overall I like that the focus of the show has shifted from relationship melodrama (yeah it's still there but it feels more earned now) to the friendships that bind the group together, as well as what defines these characters outside of their relationships. Kinda sad that Kindra the Vampire Slayer didn't last longer in the Creek

No don't! Half the fun of Gossip Girl is watching as the show again and again fails to deliver on its set-ups. Every single plotline in Gossip Girl starts with a bang and full of promise, and they inevitably get resolved by something boring like yet another boring Blair epiphany about being a Powerful Woman or, most egregiously, offscreen. My favourite way to describe Vanessa is that she's such a Humphrey, even the Humphreys can't stand how self-righteous she is. My biggest Gossip Girl regret is that she and Rufus never hooked up after all the eye-loving they did.

Okay, Gossip Girl update! Just got the Chuck's mum bombshell (graveyard scene). I REALLY like Chuck. Is that normal? I skimmed over this thread and saw a lot of shows that I watch and want to get into eventually, but there was one that probably no one has heard about.![]() Hidden Palms was a short lived and very good teen drama that aired during the first summer when The WB and UPN merged to create The CW. It only lasted one season due to the shuffle between the two networks and wasn't given a proper chance to air. The show had some what of a Veronica Mars feel to it, mainly because of the fact that the main character was trying to solve a mystery about a murder that happened to a teen who lived in the same house as he did a year earlier. The show also tackled you stereotypical teen related subjects, such as substance abuse, love and also how to deal with the death of a parent and even moving to a new place that you don't fit in with. It was a good show and the way that it ended seemed to have a great setup for a second season, but due what seemed to low ratings and also it being cut short and being forced into the Sunday night death slot that is found on The CW, it was canceled. It is currently on Netflix streaming and also I believe it can be found on Hulu, but I'm not too sure about it. I watch it as part of a project that I wanted to do, in which I watched episodes of teen dramas, but it fell through. I guess that I can start over again, but that's still up for debate. I have a feeling that the creator of the show was trying to ride the end of the teen drama bubble, but failed.

Ongoing trip report for Dawson's Creek: 3 episodes into season 5 and I feel like I've lost all interest. I kinda figured they would all have to end up together in the same town but I didn't expect the reasons to be so contrived. Joey continues to be the center of the universe. I'm so sick of the triangle at this point and the constant revisiting. It feels like an endless loop that just won't stop cause she's a horrible character that can't make up her mind and leads people along. What is up with Dawson quitting film school after he had one bad experience as an intern? He's barely in school a month or two and he decides to give up his dream just to pursue the remnants of that kiss they shared? Not to mention the other characters seem to have turned into pod people. Jen's a booty call for One Tree Hill now. Pacey's... hanging around semi stalking Joey. Jack's suddenly all into being a Frat Guy after being creepily accosted by the brothers. Should I keep pushing on, is there a light at the end of the tunnel? Or just skip to the series finale? It's a shame too, I thought S3 was an improvement over the first two and S4 bordered on almost being good television. gently caress Katie Holmes and her constant attempts at trying to emote by making cutesy faces. hope and vaseline fucked around with this message at May 24, 2012 around 20:51 |

And here-in lies the problem with Dawson's Creek -- the show should have ended when they all graduated high school. Unfortunately the WB Network saw it as a huge money maker and they kept making the episodes, and it somehow turned into Joey's Creek. Season 3 is clearly the best and I recommend it highly to everyone who wants to watch only 1 good season of teen programming. As for anything past season five... I was bored. I've watched all episodes and it merely turns into More Of The Same(TM) as you progress onward. And there's even a Very Special Episode where Joey is suppose to meet up with her hot professor and have a wild affair, but instead helps out a bank robber. Yes. Really. If you're exhausted and tired, you may be interested in skipping ahead to the finale and watch. It's a flash forward a few years and you find out what happens to all characters. It's a two parter, so make sure you watch both parts.
