PaintVagrant posted:Hey IRSMART, is there a way to not have to paint a unit every single month? There are definitely some army builds that dont use that many units overall. Maybe have a 1-month "get out of painting units free" pass? just oath a commission jeez EDIT: I am kidding. Will post when I get home.

I'm going to make April purchases in the next day or so and I have two questions: 1) Will the challenges be modified at all (unit requirements going back in or w/e) or are things set? 2) We talked about this in #tinypewtermen a little but, both for posterity's sake and in case anyone wants to do the same: will a Cavalry Battle Engine (gun carriage or that rad troll chariot) satisfy the Cavalry oath requirement?

Just bought my gun carriage! It cost more than every other Khador model I own, put together. And then some. But I'm hella pleased. Not unboxing until my March oath and a research paper are done.

Open question: how should I base my Khador? I've got one vote for urban and one for meadow, but I don't know if I want snow over the top. My models are pretty dark with bright faces, but I feel like maybe I should have light-colored bases, too. I am very open to suggestions.

It's within [my interpretation of] both the letter and the spirit of the law. But this is really a question for IRSMART.

Oh there they are! They're really good looking, dude. Back when I had desert bases, I tried to add bones and different-colored rocks and things. Alternatively, American deserts are gorgeous and allow for a lot of scrub and other weird poo poo, if that's something you'd consider.

Just have my Overseer left. It'll be a close one. I lost a lot of time this month because a varnishing disaster and a jostled box each managed to take out about ten significant models, and I elected to repair rather than pressing on. Only Scrapjack still needs touchups. I don't know what the next Saga is going to be like, but I'm betting I've got bare pewter enough for the first month at least. EDIT: incidentally, I am frickin' stoked about PRIZES. everything in this game is sweet so a bad PRIZE is impossible. Sulecrist fucked around with this message at Jun 27, 2012 around 03:11 |

Asphyxious, if we're starting a new saga (which we should be doing since this one is done as of a few hours ago), there's no midway about it. Also "bits and pieces" are fine; even if the monthly point requirements go up you can still qualify with like two models a month. Or start a new faction!

Asphyxious posted:Ohhh, the saga is each month! Alright. Well, won't be joining in for July as I finished painting all my Circle last month and the only cryx models I have left are semi-painted. That being said, over the next couple of months I plan to get a lot more so will probably crop up a bit later. Not quite; a saga is every four months. But you only need to complete two months out of four to qualify for completion. I'm wrapping up Circle and my hope is that, some huge bases aside, I'll have everything I want in the faction that's out, painted, by the end of next saga.

!amicable posted:What do you still have left to paint? I am doing my last big push in July. I've nearly finished Bloodweavers and I am going to paint full WoO+UA, Kaya, eKrueger, Morvhana, Grayle and three heavies. eBaldur, Kromac, Druid Wilder, Ghetorix, the Circle half of the two-player set (plus some Stalker pieces I'll magnetize), and the Fulcrum. Additionally, Bone Grinders, Feralgeist, and Swamp Gobbers. With some exceptions (Cassius, Grayle, pBaldur, Morvahna), I'll have everything I need to play any caster I want at 50. The ones I listed need either more wolds or infantry I don't have or both, and I don't feel like buying or painting them. I would like to get some Wolf Riders for reinforcements. Then once plastic Tharn come out, shitloads of those guys. EDIT: Oh, and a Tharn Chieftain was like the second model I bought when returning after MkI. He's unpainted but he's seen a lot of table time, both with proxied Ravagers and as a proxied medium-base anything.

I would like Lady Aiyana & Master Holt as a prize. I'll paypal for shipping--I'll get your details in IRC or something. Additionally, Kingmob's painting was a source of continuing delight and has dramatically increased the chances of me starting Mercs over Christmas. I'd like to cover his prize (if it's not from the Chest) or his shipping (if it is).

Would anyone be interested in a team element and/or fluff (ie lovely committee-written fanfiction) element this saga? I pitched it briefly to #tinypewtermen last night. It will require no additional work on anyone's part but mine. I'm thinking I'll group people into teams at the end of the first month, based primarily on warlocks/warcasters oathed, and then track points for teams instead of just individuals (which IRS will continue to handle). There'll be some surprises, but mostly it'll be like a little campaign without any actual games. Note: I know nothing about IK fluff. If there is any actual fiction, I plan to write it mad libs style with #tinypewtermen in creative control. If anyone hates this idea, I will delete this post and salt the earth. Also, team points will have no minimums (although I have some ideas for team bonuses) and if anyone completes his initial oath early (lookin at you !amicable) properly photographed stuff can be added and painted for full credit. Points are going to be even more ethereal here so w/e. Everyone please try to paint a warlock/warcaster though even if you do nothing else this month.

July Oath
![]() I don't know how long this is going to take me, but I have a bunch of Cryx for my little brother so I may do the Withershadow Combine in the second half of the month. !amicable, I will definitely get in touch with you about the campaign side. (If anybody else is interested in joining the echo chamber please let me know.) I'll be brainstorming for the next couple days/weeks and I'd like to at least draw up teams around July 15, since most of the people that are going to oath will have. Once we figure that out, we can go to town. Initially, though, here's some behind-the-scenes poo poo I'm thinking. Again, these will only affect team scores, so don't worry it'll wonk everything out. (Also I'm going to split the really insane mass-painters up obviously.): -There'll be some sweet fluff-based coordinated challenges. (Be the team with the most UAs for August or w/e.) I'll/we'll announce them at least a few weeks in advance. None for this month. -Want to write lovely vignettes? Your team will be rewarded for them. (There will be a bell-curve of available points around a particular length so we don't turn our painting thread into a reading thread.) -Let's replenish the Quartermaster's Chest. Donations will multiply your team's score by a certain percentage. (This'll probably cap around 20% per go.) If you want, you can acquire it, notify I R SMART, and ship directly to whoever calls it. I will certainly be doing this. -No matter what else I come up with, if you're a member of the winning team present at Warmachine Weekend or NOVA, I will buy you a drink. No good poo poo.
