Yes, I'm sure it was locked for good reasons I won't dare to question (it still be nice to know why it got hosed, but again I won't complain even if I do find out, as I'm not a fan of [TATMNBN] and am just using it as an example), but it and lots of other pages on similar works are legitimate works of art and storytelling, so can we do to them what was done to the page on The Bible:

Leave the page alone to a point, then once it's been sufficiently troped, lock it to prevent creepy natter and avoid controversy.

Or, I had another idea. Make certain pages that are controversy riddled have a "submission system" in which trope entries for the work must be submitted to a moderator, who then, at their discretion, can add or modify the page with administrative access whenever they deem fit or necessary.

This would allow controversial works to be troped but screen out the bad apples, allow legitimate tropes while denying flame bait/natter, and it would also allow the works in question to at least get a basic description/overview without screwing over the people who typed in the trope title merely looking for information about the work in question.

Finally, the reason I suggested that the trope entries be submitted to their own section (I propose this be done on the discussion page for the work or sequestered on a mini forum thread) and then approved and added by a moderator at their discretion (i.e. - whenever they get the time to add stuff) is so the mods have sufficient time to weed out the flaming/natter/creepy stuff while still helping the sane, decent tropers trope potentially controversial works pages without the need to delete and salt them wholesale.

I've been flicking through those pages and every single one of them so far is a harsh lesson as to why you should never, ever copy your homework from TVTropes. Besides the fact that the wiki is an incompetently assembled mess written by people so hopelessly illiterate that they think Animorphs is a work of genius, no teacher should ever be subjected to an essay or book report splattered with Troper gibberish.
