Benne posted:Your thought process is exactly why Watchmen is so brilliant. Moore creates this guy who, at first, is Batman in a trenchcoat. He kicks rear end, doesn't take no for an answer. You latch on to him. As you keep reading, however, he uncovers more and more layers of Rorschach that make you more uncomfortable by the panel. Once you close the book and think about it for 5 minutes, you're repulsed by his actions.

Metal Loaf posted:I'm not sure if it's still there, but there was once an "It Just Bugs Me" page for 4Kids! Entertainment. One of the complaints was that they constantly butcher adult anime to make it appropriate for children; one troper challenged this assertion, remarking that it seemed unlikely that 4Kids would try to license explicitly adult material and asking to be told what adult anime they were dubbing poorly. One Piece was pretty much the only reply.

Mr. Pumroy posted:Personally I can't see how anyone can derive joy from such a pointless exercise. I can only imagine there's some Skinner box reward feedback loop for when you cross reference your creepy panty shot cartoon with every sex trope and everyone high fives you and asks "are you me???" (dang I miss that phrase).

quote:The Monster Girl Encyclopedia: Cute Monster Girls, surprise sex, pandering to fetishes, etc. Assuming they're talking about the same Monster Girl Encyclopedia I'm thinking of, there's no porn as such (I don't think there's even nudity), it's just pictures of monster girls with descriptions of their habits (sexual and otherwise) and such. Most of which basically boil down to "you gonna get raped".... probably best they get rid of it.

quote:In Time Braid everyone actively hates Naruto and does their best to make his life as lovely as possible. Among other things, Naruto almost never goes to the hospital for whatever injuries he racks up because the nurses mistreat him. He can't afford anything but ramen because the shopkeepers are charging him hugely inflated rates. This isn't actually specific to Time Braid, I've seen the same idea used (much better) in other, better stories.
