Your thought process is exactly why Watchmen is so brilliant. Moore creates this guy who, at first, is Batman in a trenchcoat. He kicks rear end, doesn't take no for an answer. You latch on to him. As you keep reading, however, he uncovers more and more layers of Rorschach that make you more uncomfortable by the panel. Once you close the book and think about it for 5 minutes, you're repulsed by his actions.

At least, that's the audience reaction Moore intended. Too bad Tropers never got past the "Batman in a trenchcoat" part.

To be fair, neither did a lot of other people. Including the comics industry itself, iirc.

That was a different type of fan than we seem to be talking about though, iirc that was mostly/all fangirls using the character as a blank slate for their fanfiction or something.

iirc, the original purpose was a "wheat from the chaff" thing, trying to document the minority of fanfiction that isn't terrible. It did a reasonable job at this circa a couple of years ago, but their standards took a nosedive since then.

I don't think most of them are supposed to be pre-pubescent (bar... I don't know, the Scarlets and Team Circled Nine primarily) so much as Zun just kind of sucks as an artist.

Assuming they're talking about the same Monster Girl Encyclopedia I'm thinking of, there's no porn as such (I don't think there's even nudity), it's just pictures of monster girls with descriptions of their habits (sexual and otherwise) and such. Most of which basically boil down to "you gonna get raped".

... probably best they get rid of it.
