One thing I wondered is what triggers the Reapers to invade? Is it every 50,000 years on the dot or a certain technological breakthrough. I'm pretty sure its not the building of AI's because the Geth Wars or whatever were supposed to be like 300 years ago and I assume they made them a pretty long time before that, i'm sure they mentioned how long but I don't really remember.

I really should have asked the question better.

Could I play these while offline?

I'm pretty sure you can, I am pretty sure I played Sim 3 offline after I had played it before. Don't quote me on it but i'm almost sure you can. As for Mass Effect in general I don't know because I have only played them on console.

IIRC in Leviathan it says the Rachni were brainwashed by the species that created the Reapers for whatever reason.

Its the Leviathans that created the Reapers though isn't it?

When I first played I thought control was some kind of trap. Like you were being indoctrinated into thinking it was a good idea. I figured if I picked it the game would be like "Haha tricked you now your one of us and WANT to destroy everything!" so I picked Destroy. I was going to pick synthesis because it had the highest requirements and seemed like it would be the "good" ending but it sounded so stupid I just went with destroy, seemed like the most failproof.

I thought Tali falling off of the cliff was really funny, i'm glad even in the apocalypse you can't still find humor.

That's one thing I never understood about Mass Effect. They never talk about even the possibility you were indoctrinated the whole time. Shepard is around reaper crap pretty much 24/7 and I figured it would come up. I thought the end with the star child was going to be indoctrination stuff when I first got there.

I agree that the reapers aren't benevolent and the writers dropped the ball on the whole reapers are just doing machine thing. I think you are wrong that the Geth thing should prove to the Reapers that they are wrong though. The reapers don't really have to be right, they can still be wrong but believe that their way is the best way and not believe they are wrong.

Does it ever say what the Reapers do to the synthetic races already around during their cycles? I assume destroy/enslave since they don't hang around until the next cycle but I don't remember it actually saying.

I liked how they threw in that humans have the most genetic diversity so they didn't have to animate Turian goons.

Its weird how people keep harping on the fact that the Reapers are wrong. It doesn't matter. The reapers think that eventually AI will destroy all Organics if given enough times. They are wrong, or maybe their right. Who knows, and it doesn't really matter. All that matters is that it is what they have concluded will happen and that's what they act on.

Same for me. I do it with each Assassins Creed to. I liked AC2 so much that each one i've bought after it and Brotherhood I have thought "I know they messed up the last one but THIS one might be where they turn it around!"

Although I wouldn't say the ending was great i'm not of the opinion that it is as bad as the internet says.

I don't know, I don't think anything happy would have been good. At best I could se the ending being a pyrrhic victory but anything that was like "Shepard beat the Reapers" wouldn't have fit within the story they had already told.

I thought it was dumb how I pretty much went against everything Cerberus wanted me to do in ME2 and blew up the thing they wanted to research at the end, but Ashley couldn't trust me because she saw me with some Cerberus guys for about an hour in the middle of that game.

I'm playing ME3 for the first time and without spoiling things too much, where is my great love Tali'Zorah vas Normandy? I was told not to rush the Priority missions until I do the rest of the missions but we must continue our space romance for as long as possible!! I saved everyone at the end of 2 Also I really liked Legion, can I recruit him back?

Related, Kaiden is currently in the hospital and is now a Spectre. Did I do something wrong to not recruit him back onto the Normandy? Or should I just wait longer..?

Tali dies automatically unless you drank her breastmilk in 1 and 2.

I'm wondering with it being the so far in the future and in a different universe that really the only choice that would hold any significance is the destroy/control ending. They might just ask you what happened in a beginning tutorial like Witcher 3.

It does seem a weird mission. They can't report back unless their just like "ok guys well go see what's out there, be back in about 1200 years."

Yeah technological inaccuracies are fine because an actual shuttle that doesn't crash back to Earth 50% of the time is beyond our technological grasp as of now so you can throw any technical blab about how things work and I'll buy it. What I don't understand is in universe if they had the technology prior to the reaper invasion why didn't anyone use it to do anything. Explore, move etc.
