As well as this, I reckon I'm gonna go save da whales! by finishing last month's oath. Here is the new WIP photo of them with time stamp.

My original oath can be found here.

(If any of this is wrong, say so and I'll edit it for corrections.)

Yaay!

Congrats Fuegan, you're the first one to boldly hurtle around the sun and try to Go Save der Whales n dat. I am happy with this format and anyone else reading, please do it just like this: post an Oath picture with the models, link to your original oath, and then when it's done, post a completed picture also with the whales label.

Naturally this Whales portion of Fuegan's work this month isn't eligible for completion points or other monthly prizes (unless someone explicitly decides to add Whales eligibility to a monthly prize I guess). So Fuegan still needs to do his separate oath for May (which he posted) if he wants to garner May points/prize eligibility.

I've been carefully cataloging all my elderly models and I'm confident I'll be offering some cool stuff for Der One Wif Da Whales!

e.
Oh yeah also, thiswayliesmadness: We have this prize thing going this year:

quote:

Generations: Every month you finish a Games Workshop oath, you'll get an entry into this grand prize. Inside is a massive bag o' bits compiled by various people, currently weighing in over a pound! Look at it!
It might be extremely useful if we track in the spreadsheet which Oaths are GW models from the get-go, rather than having to go back at the end and figure it out then? Just a thought. Also someone sorted the spreadsheet by name which is cool, but they accidentally included the top title row in the sort so now it's buried in the list.

Those are Essex miniatures. Their vikings are really nice, and they tend to be quite cheap (Essex quality varies a lot between ranges, unfortunately). The army itself is about twice as big with all options, so I'm saving the rest for another oath.

And yes, you'll find quite a bit of non-WW2 stuff in the historicals thread. Feel free to drop in, I've posted some of my DBA stuff in there, and I guess my vikings will end up there sooner or later.

Sorry, forgot what year this was for a moment. Hey, you guys remember when gas was "only" $2.50 a gallon?

ARTISTRY, 3 POINTS: Monoliths

While this model alone does not really sum up everything well enough, the level of effort you put into your scheme for your Grey Knights is astounding; taken individually, these stand up on their own, but side-by-side, I noticed how each model's scheme complements the other, working in an order that, while may seem clashing at first, ends up being cohesive and well-planned. Kudos! On a side note, I was thinking about doing my Grey Knight Librarian in blue armor as well--you've proven that it looks good.

ARTISTRY, 2 POINTS: Bachtere

Buddy, I've said this before and I'll say it again, but you sir are the absolute master of placement. You continue to blow all of us away with your dignified style, and this shark and sharkman are prime examples. Really, all your entries for this month display your skills quite readily, but I found this to be the model that really shows it best.

ARTISTRY, 1 POINT: Arlaharen

While all three of your entries were qualified for this, I feel that this model right here best displays your use of colors. This model is vibrant and shows off the colors very well. Your use of bright blues and rich reds work well together and really make things pop.

We are off to a good start. Let's keep it up!

That's my plan!
I can't paint anywhere NEAR the level of some of you guys, so I'm hoping to just get there by meeting the points cap each month.
Also the real point of oathing (for me) is to just get back into painting as a regular thing. I really enjoy doing it, but so often life gets in the way of me taking a few hours to just sit and listen to Cosmos while I slap pink paint on tiny men.

I paint to my own level of satisfaction every month and have won prizes in the previous two contests; this was always about people getting paint on their models, even if it wasn't rendered in a perfect artistic expression of the grim, dark future.

The monthly prizes, though... Actually I think I've once won some bases from Dragonforge but you always seem to notice the misses more than the hits.

I was wondering if I had to mention the words Captain's Log for it to count or if my last entry just didn't have enough battle damage for it since the spreadsheet doesn't have points for me in that column. I lelu's scars and collodi's face would work or do all models require it? I'll try for this month to get all of them to match anyway though.

Also, I did some work on lilith. Trying to do some basic blending instead of just abusing GW washes like I usually do.

I've had very little trouble myself - if it's in stock it ships in a couple of days - but they're not brilliant at telling you if it'll take ages to get in stock. Last order got caught like that, because the Electrical Creation from the oath was out of stock.

Otherwise, they're pretty responsive by mail and prices are very good. If you're in London, Dark Sphere is also cheap and a very good backup source for stuff.
