The requirements say this: quote:Do whatever you like to specialize a model beyond the normal, but when you post your completed oath you need to include a short story (min 10 sentences) about your oath. Just make it an original story (no copying established works), try to make it in the style of your system, and add something to a model beyond the normal assembly/paint job. My interpretation is that you need to actually do something to reflect the story/narrative you write. Whatever that is is up to you, it can be converting it or painting it or basing it or anything. But you wouldn't just get the points for painting up three marines exactly like all your other marines and then writing ten sentences about them reloading their bolters or whatever. Having said that, judging has always been pretty expansive so I imagine as long as you don't look like a total tool calling it in you will be ok.

Yeah, it just says to do "something special" with the model, and then write a story about that special model. Doesn't have to be a conversion necessarily.

Oath Complete! ![]() Lt. Jennings took cover as yet another Khadoran mortar exploded mere feet from his trench. He and the rest of the Arcane Tempest Gun Mages had been here for the better part of a week, picking off targets and calling out Widowmakers before they did too much damage. He cringed as raw earth flew over the open trench, and silently prayed for Morrow to stop this infernal bombardment. "Jennings, how long ya been deployed?" The surly comment came from Captain Marshall Tyan, who was leading the Trencher deployment in the engagement. His cigar chomping mouth asked, but the flinty eyes above already knew the answer. "Th-this is my first, sir. I just graduated..." "Professor," he said in the way that one normally addressed a child crying too long over a skinned knee, "perhaps you could help us pick off those mortar crews? Maybe even do your little hand-waving, writing-floating-about thing and destroy the mortars themselves." "Captian, that's not entirely accurate. You see, arcane forces have to gather and coalesce first in the forging of--" Tyan slammed Jannings against the wall of the earthworks mid-sentence, jarring his thoughts and speech as to the inner workings of Gun Magery. "I give precisely no glints off of Morrow's armor, blessed be his name!" The words a reverent prayer, but Tyan made it sound like something his grandmother might faint overhearing. "You little green bastards were brought in to give us cover so my men can advance. To troubleshoot. To date, Lieutenant, I have seen you 'troubleshoot' only three targets." "R-Reinforcements were scheduled to arrive, I-I'm not sure what could h-hold them--" "Jennings, time you learned harsh truths on the front. Reinforcements get lost, sabotaged, or killed en route. They may come, they may not." Tyan's face was inches from Jennings. He could smell the cigar, the whiskey, and the raw impatience of the man. Jenning's instructors had been firm, true, but this behavior was new, and he'd never seen another officer conduct themselves like this. "Point is, we gotta act like they ain't never coming." Tyan released Jennings to sink into the baseboards and muck that made the floor of the trenches. No reinforcements?! Jennings wasn't sure what to do. He was operating knowing that he'd have a moment of respite in a matter of days. Before Tyan could utter another word, a tremor went through the camp. Silence fell, even the men groaning with wounds had given pause, and Khador's guns went quiet with the tremor. Another rumble shook the field, rustling the carrion crows from No Man's Land. Snapping of branches from a nearby copse of trees snapped Jennings and Tyan alike around, in time to see a massive titan of steel, steam, and brass stomp through the woods. The man next to it gave off a similar trail of smoke from a boiler of his own, but the trail was much thinner. A long Greatcoat trailed, but the men recognized him. "I heard you all have a disagreement with our neighbors to the north," he said as he approached Jennings and Tyan. Despite only being a captain himself, Tyan nodded to the stranger in deference. "Yessir. Might be you could help." Caine looked over the ridge, back to the Stormwall, and gave a cocksure grin. "Might just be, cap." ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() See some of you at Diecon this weekend!

June Oath Complete!![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() For this month's Kaptin's Log, I sculpted some greenstuff pants for my dozer engineer and gave my female line kazak a shirt that fit. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Major Alenko ran a tight operation. While many of his comrades in the Ariadna Ground Forces were rather lax in enforcing the uniform code, Alenko felt that the morale boost of a little extra skin wasn't worth the risk of the enemy seeing through their camo or getting frostbitten in the cold Ariadna winters. Alenko's first task upon being given command of the 3rd Ariadnan rifle division was to ensure each and every one of his troopers were issued a full uniform with the correct camo for the current Autumn operations. Although many troopers grumbled at the their new CO's strict policies, they soon came around as Alenko's 3rd Division started to out perform all of her sister divisions under Alenko's leadership. The only problem now was the dogs. Alenko wasn't sure what their pants situation was but he was sure that he didn't like it. The Antipode Assault pack was just a little to humanoid to be running around in nothing more than their fur and some leg and arm wraps but every attempt to issue the pack new gear met with failure. After one particularly nasty episode with some knit sweaters, Major Alenko decided to just forget the pack existed and gave their handler a large amount of autonomy in their command. This arrangement proved to be a successful one and the 3rd Ariadnan Rifle Division has gained notoriety among enemy forces as one of the hardest opponents on Ariadna to face.

The Librarian is cobbled together from terminator bits and bobs with the servoskull added for extra pimpitude. Quick question I'm doing the added stuff to the librarian model but I am working on my story set in the Infinity universe for the Fiday. So...:siren :OATH COMPLETE ![]() First the Kaptain's Log. I should explain a bit, that I play 40k and Malifaux. I bought the model with the intent to find some use for it in Malifaux, but he barely fits on a 60mm base and certainly wouldn't fit on a 50 for use in Malifaux, so whoops he's a GUO or a Demon Prince. The story reflects that. Part 1 "Is this seriously the best you could find?" Dr. McMourning looked with disgust over the pile of useless flesh on the table. "Seriously?" he repeated to Sebastian. "Yes, Doctor, I'm sorry" cringed the hapless lab assistant. He had sorted through the hospital's waste bins for hours, finding nothing but used bandages and syringes, before finally coming across several large sacks filled with marginally more useful medical waste - excised tumors, bags of tainted blood, a few amputated limbs. Sitting as they had on the bottom of the pile, they were far from fresh - the lab currently smelled worse than Sebastian could recall it ever being. McMourning sighed dramatically, then remembered no one but Sebastian was here to appreciate the sigh, and cut it off abruptly, waving his hand irritatedly at the pile of noxious goo. "Well, it's useless to me. Get rid of it" Sebastian hurried to scoop the mess back into the sacks. "Yes Doctor. I'll have it on the next trash barge through the Breach." Part 2 "All loaded. Have fun." Nigel wrinkled his nose at the porter's tone. "Hmm, yes. Quite" he said as he checked his pocketwatch. He climbed up into the cab and pulled slowly out of the railyard. I hope this is worth it, he thought to himself as he absently looked over the steam gauges and instruments and the barge hurtled down the track headed for a large crackling blue electrical field in the distance - The Breach. Garbage hauling wasn't exactly the prestigious job he was accustomed to, but times were harder here in Malifaux than they were on the other side, and at least this way he might get to see his daughter Emily back Earthside every now and then. He touched the small sepia photo of her fastened to the dashboard. The Breach grew ever larger as the train approached. This would be the first time Nigel had crossed through since his first arrival in Malifaux six years ago. They say some people discover magical powers when they cross through. Nigel had simply vomited for an hour, it was hours before he could see clearly, and still walked with a limp to this day. Well, he thought, adjusting his bowler hat and smoothing down his vest, here's to a new era. Cheers. Part 3 "GET DOWN!" Garth dove to the ground as a deafening boom shook him, landing face down with dirt showering onto his back. He spat out dirt as he rose to his knees, scrambling to take cover behind an overturned vehicle. He sat with his back to the hulk, coming up next to Sarge. "Sarge, I don't know if I can do this" he said, panic creeping into his voice. This was Garth's first real combat. Hell, he'd only been in the Guard three months, he'd barely had any training at all. He knew which end of the lasgun to hold, that was about it. He certainly didn't know how to handle the sight of his friends being chopped in half by orks. Sarge wiped his face and sighed. "Me neither, private. Me neither" Sarge was the most senior in the unit. He had been in the guard for nine months. Their discussion was interrupted by an unfamiliar noise. A crackling, loud and high, and then a tearing sound. The thundering mortar fire seemed to pause as both the Guard and the greenskins watched. Garth and Sarge peeked their heads over the vehicle wreck. A 30 foot high circle of crackling blue had opened in the middle of the battlefield, about a hundred meters from where Garth sat. Garth held his breath, hoping that a squad of Astartes Terminators would stride through and help them. A figure, still obscured in shadow, lumbered through. Did he dare dream that they sent a Dreadnought to help? His heart fell as the crackling energy cleared and the figure came into view. The thing was massive, certainly as large as the replica dreadnought Garth had seen in a museum. But rather than a massive tomb on legs, this thing was...a slug? Garth didn't even know how to describe it. His eyes slid with sickly ease over the slime trail the beast left behind, across the festering rolls of fat festooned with pustules, over the...purple...silk...vest? Wait, what? Garth rubbed his eyes and looked again, just as the beast took out his pocketwatch, sniffed derisively at it, then closed it again, putting it away in his vest pocket. He...it?...adjusted his monocle, then casually reached over to a passing ork and tore it's head off. It grumbled something Garth didn't understand, then grunted, leaned on his cane, and shuffled down the main road of the city. Wherever he passed, men dropped dead, clutching their throats and gagging on noxious fumes that seemed to emanate from the beast. The orks seemed better able to handle it, but even they erupted in boils and tumors - they simply seemed not to care. The momentary repreive of confusion broke, the mortars began to fall again, and the orks continued to charge. Garth could not take his eyes off the vile creature. The sounds of battle faded, and he stood, rapt, Sarge's shouts a distant muffled warning. As the creature bore down on Garth, he could hear it's terrible voice, gurgling and incomprehensible...or was it? He swore he could make out a few words. He strained to hear over the sounds of his own bones breaking and his own unbidden screams...train? breach? and then with certainty...Emily. And then...the model! This guy was hella fun to paint, and I didn't convert the model but I did try some new things like oil washes, as well as using weathering powders which I first tried last month with Killjoy. The model is also a special modified version of the standard Puppetswar Fat Plague Demon so I hope that along with the story counts. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
