Gravitas Shortfall posted:Thanks for responding! If I had to vote for a solution, I'd either suggest Pierzak's "one LT for every 300 points" solution, or if that's far too annoying, only allowing one LT every 6 months. That'd put Infinity at roughly the same HQ/Lord ratio as 40K or Warmachine I think. I'm of the opinion that Infinity just doesn't get the option of claiming the LT as an HQ/Lord for three reasons: 1) It's three models in a month. Come on. 2) You can make a lot of different models LT's, it's not as dedicated a thing as it is in other games. 3) You should be hiding your LT by painting every model in your army as nice as him anyway. You want to be in Loss on turn 1 because your opponent goes "well, that's easy enough, we'll just shoot the pretty one?"

Judgement Time!![]() My god, this was difficult. There were so many top-notch entries right out of the gate, I can see this is going to be a competitive year if you guys can keep the hammer down. At the risk of forgetting some I don't want to name any honorable mentions, but so many of you are hitting the right notes, I've got to say. It's killing me that I can't pick a fourth, or a fifth. Killing me. Composition - 1 Point: Arlaharen ![]() This was a tough call, because there are a couple of small things I would probably tweak here and there, but what sold me on these three was the way they are so well integrated with the bases. Most models are standing somewhere, but the way you've really worked your models (in one way literally) into the scenery you've built is really great. Everything here has some interaction with the world they're in and I love it. Great color, great story. Composition - 2 Points : TheRupert ![]() I don't like Jacks. That said, I love these Jacks. Great metals, great wear on both blue and white, clean blocking, a simple scheme that is set off by tiny pops of color in the base, not to mention the water effects that, while not perfectly executed, really add one final dimension of liveliness to these models. Nice work. Composition - 3 Points : Forkbanger ![]() Moreso than any other, when I was flipping back and forth through the gallery two dozen or so times in the last day, this was the image that jumped out and made me stop, again and again. There is just so much happening here, technique and schema wise. What really makes this top of my list in terms of composition this month is its cohesiveness as a crew, a group of models that each contribute their own color palette to the overall whole. Again, the bases contribute to the models more than just being a place to stand, and the colors in them don't draw the eyes away from the models on them. That there is such variety in skin and hair tones, each so well done in their own right, and such strong technique displayed on things like the blends across the umbrellas and the skin and shadow on Seamus, I found Forkbanger's style to be top notch this month and congratulate him for it. Great start, people!

I stand in judgement of you!![]() Ugh. That there was a lot of great models. You guys need to calm down and make this easier. 1 Point: Internet Junky - Gorgeous diorama. Beautiful marble effect, great contrast of colors, great feeling of story. If there are things that I'd ding you on here that you might pay attention to going forward and earn you more points with this sort of thing, it is to be mindful of the assembly gap on the tail (I know it broke off, but it really is worth fixing), and the positioning of the rider. He looks like he is meant to be threatening your soldier, but seems to be pointing and looking past him. That aside, it's a great piece. 2 Points: Gravitas Shortfall - That daemon and the work you put into the basing is great, but we shouldn't overlook the quality of your Haqqislam troops, either. The scheme is fantastic, the execution even better. I worry that they won't pop quite enough from a distance (particularly the remote), that the colors blend a little too much into their bases, but from your pics I can't deny you're doing a great job with them. 3 Points: Arlaharen - I have no idea what is going on here, but god drat, son. Get a better shot of the base. Even with the tinypic, it looks incredible. Great drama, great effects, great execution. Just keep doing this, drat. The Thrullg as well. The way it draws up out of that base while still having so much visual interest going on down there? It's great. Just great. Special people: PierreTheMime WhiteOutMouse RedShoe Bachtere Adamantium Wang TheRupert Everyone. Geez.

Judgment Time! ![]() Congratulations to: 1 Point - Stabbington! A fantastic mix of effects, great basing job, a real sense of grandeur and weight to this giant model. Looks fantastic. Keep up the great work! 2 Points - Mr. Booger! Holy hell! Where did that come from? Sushi already summed up everything that is right with this model, the only thing he got wrong was not having enough points to his name to give you. 3 Points - Monoliths! This was astounding work. There are a few technical flaws (a bit overdone on the light sourcing at the eyes, a bit of a bland base) but let me tell you: If any of the rest of you came back to me in a year's time and said "Fix, you're wrong, and here's the Slayer Sword I won for the model I painted in the oath thread that month: I'd say two things in retort. First, "get the hell out of my bedroom you psycho," and second: "Yes, yes, it was very nice, but did it vomit and foam? DID IT VOMIT AND FOAM? NO! IT DIDN'T!" Monoliths, my man, you have repeatedly over the last few years shown a dedication to creative conversion, and detailed execution, and you are a boon to this hobby. Never stop.

THE JUDGEMENT![]() I can't believe you bastards are making me put these in ranking order. I simply can't. I've got a swathe of names wrapped closely around these three, so tightly packed there's nowt but electrons separating them. I'm late because I'm literally agonizing over this. I haven't had to literally agonize over this before, but I am and it's... well... agony. 1 Point: Asphyxious! ![]() Clearly, you could go more boldly with color on your models this month, extend your source lighting further, but you have no need to do that, and show why here. Hell, I can't even see what's happening in the basing with this particular model (like they left you room for it). I don't know how much of what has happened here is only in the photography or the sculpts or whatever, but your models absolutely leapt off the screen this month. I expect that they won't look quite so striking outside of the lightbox, where pushing your highlights would help, but right here in it's element, this is gorgeous and grim. That's without saying peep about the texturing you did on your Kaptain's Log piece this month. Great work. 2 Points: Arson Fire! ![]() I don't know what is happening in this little diorama you've built. The Guardsman looks to have been dispatched with the least possible violence a Swarmlord can summon, as if he may have shot himself through the mouth, yet here's his hulking thing. This gorgeous, hulking thing. Beautiful blends. Suddenly these wings. Suddenly a whip, and the joins are so well hid. Every option is great. Do more of these. 3 Points: Namenlos! ![]() It looks like it's glowing, maaaaan! I agree with everything that has been said already. Stellar, original work, and a great base in a month that was, quite honestly, a bit lacking in the basing front, all around.

I'm glad to hear that, and I hope you don't take a complement on your photography as a slight on your painting skill, because the ultimate truth is that both are important to their own degree, and the fact that you will go the extra distance to properly shoot your stuff, and possess the editorial eye to present the best photos for judging says plenty about your artistic sense. The models you posted look great because of everything you put into them, and you put into them an extra element some people don't bother.

Still, I'm not likely to win anything given the level of my painting and of others' here.
