Pumpkin Pie, as Vrik said, is okay, but mostly an excuse to have a lot of Cool Whip. I haven't had Sweet Potato Pie, but as I love Yam in general, it might be good. I'm gonna have to say of the three presented Apple is the best. Why? Think home-made cruse, perfectly sliced Granny Smith apples with a cinnamon-sugar mix filling all bakes in a deep dish ceramic holder. Heaven right from the oven. I myself don't have cheese with my apple pie, but I know my grandfather does. I'll have to try it some time.

Pie talk aside, Gex 2 is different from the first, but it kind of feels like it's more of a collect-a-thon just like half the other big name games of the time(Mario 64 and Donkey Kong 64 just to name a couple)but worse. Maybe because of the camera, but I just don't like it.

I'm just surprised that there are so many people out there who've eaten any pie and didn't like it. Every pie is delicious.

And before anybody gets snarky, I mean any sweet dessert pie is delicious.

The beginning of the video was referencing Edgar Allen Poe's The Pit and the Pendulum. I'm sure it's been made for TV a few times, as Gex doesn't strike me as much of a reader.

It also sounded like an attempt at a Vincent Price voice; a man who starred in a ton of Poe story adaptations, though his most famous work is probably Thirteen Ghosts of Scooby Doo.

There's a station on broadcast TV here that plays old movies, and for Halloween they did a Vincent Price marathon. That's when I discovered something fascinating: Vincent Price always plays Vincent Price and whether it's a horror movie or a comedy satire of a horror movie depends entirely on how the director shoots around Vincent Price. It's neat to watch one of each type back-to-back.

He has become partially fused with pop culture. In the Media Dimension he is nigh-omnipotent. Even a nigh-omnipotent slacker is still pretty punchy.

If it's a new Gex game, then we are grabbing dibs on that drat game right now!

...hell, the wait is 6 months to start an LP, and to be honest we have a few more months left on the PS1 games. This isn't even mentioning the GB games if you all want to see them.

I'm more or less alive and well from my dam-rescue, and more importantly Part 9 is up!

PART 9: Lock and load, Luke and Leia.

To close this round of the contest, the results:

Three points for Sudden Javelin. Incredibly simple, but I laughed a whole bunch.

Two points for Waffleman_. Zero Wing is the first thing that pops into my head when I think of old memes.

I couldn't make up my mind, so I'm gonna give a point to both Daigerus -and- UZWorm. The little bits of detail in the former sell it, and the latter works because I mean, come on, Gex is pretty damned photogenic.

The next round of the contest will be up in the next couple of days, keep a look out.

Going forward, guys, we've got quite a bit of content up so far, and quite a lot to go. Is there anything you'd like to see from us? More of something? Less of something? Is our quality alright? Is our banter too much? Feel free to toss us anything. It's gonna be a long ride yet.

Well, speaking as someone who replayed the games six months ago, you could take the sudden sideways jumps a bit more carefully, or else you'll be slitting your wrists when you reach the mythology level in the third game.

Edit: Awww, you missed the hidden cutscene in the caveman level.

Man, for some reason I remember having a lot of trouble with In Drag Net and Mooshoo Pork when I was a kid. I must've been terrible at video games.

The Lava Dabba Doo stage was interesting. That's not in the n64 version, is it? Because the entrance is in the same spot the Titanic Stage is at.

I thought the signs "No Swimming" in a river of lava was amusing, and the sign "You're almost there!" right before the lava waterfall. nice of them to give you some motivation.

Mmm, since you asked, one thing I'd like to ask of you guys, is when Gex says something new, can you let him talk? Some of his comments are pretty amusing, and the PSX version apparently has more comments than the n64 version did, so he'll say stuff I never would've had a chance to hear.

Seconding this. I'm weird and I really like listening to Gex's dated pop culture references.

Also, you're such a tease, Korremar, I thought "Lock and Load, Luke and Leia" meant you were doing the space level. I love that level. Guess I'll have to wait a little longer.

It actually isn't, I believe there is another platform that goes the other direction in the n64 version and takes you to the exclusive level.

By the way, to include the exclusive level, I believe they took out the third Scream TV level, which we haven't gotten to yet. I do hope someone shows it off at some point, because I recall it having actually decent swimming controls, surprisingly. Other than the new level, the N64 version is pretty gimped due to size restraints.

I have a request! I remember making myself laugh in the 64 version by having Gex jump into the torches in the media dimention and just sitting there. Gex doesn't take any damage if I recall, and he has some pretty funny things to say. I was wondering if the PSX version has more lines.

My favourites from that are " I am the god of hell fire" and " Pepto-... bismol!"

Yup I'm going to have to take this to the third power.

I don't mind tangents, I appreciate them but sometimes they literally go over new rooms and new comments.

Yeah. This is another good point. I do want to admit I really find it amusing how the Gex games just encourage these kind of tangents with all the references to other media, and his comments and things like that, so I'm not saying stop having these tangents just...

You guys don't really take a break from it too much, to let Gex say something or to make comments about new rooms or segments in the game, you get a little too far from talking about the game.

I agree with the people who said the tangents are just a tad too long. But otherwise I'm really enjoying the whole LP so far. Brings back very fond memories of my childhood. There is one particular theme (space) in Gex 2 though that I remember pretty much never getting any remotes from because I was just too bad at it.
