Looks like Starlight Inception has really picked up in funding. Though I doubt they'll be able to raise 30,000 in 9 hours.

I guess that answers if people have burned out on Kickstarter yet, Carmeggedon has raised $50,000 in the first 4 hours. Things really slowed down in the past few weeks, but it looks like a big name will still do it.

In other news, the Two Guys from Andromeda have just launched their SpaceVenture Kickstarter. They are pretty vague about the game they will create, but their pitch says they will release a demo for every $100,000 raised.

Not an active KickStarter yet, but it looks like the guys at Dead State (zombie-apocalypse survival RPG by the lead writer of V:tM Bloodlines) are going to have their KickStarter ready very soon. As soon as their trailer is finished. I'm very excited about this!

You ever heard of Obsidian? Same deal here. You are working on a contract for a publisher; it doesn't matter how much money your creation sells as your rates have already been agreed on.

However, the Magic games are pretty buggy indeed. That isn't a good sign.

vvvvv also, this obviously, but you can see from their office that they don't have much money.

edit for serious content: they can only pay their employees if they have funding. They only have funding if they either get a publisher, investors, crowd-source, or self-fund. Unless they're seriously in the green, they aren't going to risk sinking their company with the last option, especially since KickStarter is a hell of a lot less risky (which is both its greatest strength and weakness).

I liked the video . It carried the feeling that they really didn't have much money and that they really need it to make the game. It's a bit self-deprecating and I like that . Also the part where the guy turns around and goes "woof" at the camera was hilarious.

Or maybe a KickStarter like, "If the number of cents in the final donation count of this project is even, I will make a video game. If it is odd, I will wallpaper my house with dollar bills from your donations and post videos of it online."

I love people that do this because it's such a ridiculous notion. Why do people sit down and go oh god my pong clone is so amazing I can't share any details about it because someone will steal my idea!

At least I'm assuming that people say that because of theft reasons but maybe I'm wrong. It's just such a crazy idea to me that you would think people with such a good idea would want to tell everyone about it and not hide it in a locked cupboard.

I think I get it now.

The Xenonauts kickstarter is now live. Interestingly enough you can actually download the latest development build without pledging, a try before you buy as it would be. If you don't know what Xenonauts is, well, it's probably the most faithful commercial re-imagination of XCOM that is in development right now. It's worth checking out if you're a fan of the original.

Nothing really, as long as they have a verified account that isn't connected to whatever account they submitted with (harder than it sounds if Kickstarter is doing even a half-assed job) or a friend who is willing to put up the money. That and they can afford the hit on their credit before the Kickstarter money is sent out to them.

Edit:
They'll also be in serious trouble if they're found out.

2nd Edit:
Actually it's probably Amazon doing the verification, and I'm sure they're pretty good at weeding out problems like that.
