With all this talk of game music, Reformation C64 Track Remakes by Matt Gray (Last Ninja 2) has 10 days left and is slowly working towards its second stretchgoal. For those of you who don't know, Matt Gray was one of the top names in C64 games music composing, having made music for games like Last Ninja 2, Driller, Dominator and lots of other games. I've always placed him somewhere between Galway (smooth pitchbending goodness) and Hubbard (noisy rock awesomeness) Here is a preview of his reworked version of Last Ninja 2 Central Park Loader https://soundcloud.com/mattgrayc64/matt-gray-last-ninja-2-central He has also posted some previews and excepts from Stormlord 2: Deliverance and Dominator 2. As someone who grew up on computer magazine coverdisks and their bizarre demos during the multimedia kick of the 90's, I believe that this Kickstarter needs to succeed - the free online rerelease of three CD-ROM games for girls.

Night Blade posted:Out of curiosity, what video game music do you enjoy? Can I get away with "anything that's good"? I like a lot of the common 8 and 16-bit staples like Megaman music, I like synth-heavy stuff like the Shatter soundtrack, recently I dig the Crypt of the Necrodancer soundtrack, VVVVVV had a good soundtrack, and I'll even go for more generic orchestrated JRPG fare like Xenoblade. And recently I even read a ~visual novel~ with a surprisingly good and varied soundtrack, Umineko, something you don't ever expect for that genre. So I have no particular preferences, I have a wide range of tastes. It's just that Americana Dawn's soundtrack is particularly dull to me.

Unguided posted:The Buck & Miles Kickstarter launched a few days ago. It looks like it'll be a fun platformer, reminds me of Adventure Island and the Mario Land games. Huh. I was just about to post about how this looked shady as all hell until I noticed that half the team apparently worked on Shut up and Jam: Gaiden. Now I'm not sure what to think. I'd still consider it very worrying that after two years of self-funded development they don't have more gameplay footage to show, never mind a demo or a vertical slice. The graphical and musical style is also less a homage to the old Mario games than it is a ripoff. What happened with the Barkley 2 Kickstarter, anyway?

The thing about the Genesis is that it was actually pretty hard to program music for. So you had a lot of low-quality garbage like his, but occasionally you'd get people who actually know what they're doing and get something great. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FA2pCqpfAkM I love the loving filthy sound good genesis music had.
