if fig can't get its first and only project ever crowdfunded it's dead in the loving water

Have they actually said that's going to happen? Much as is the case every other person on the board, there's no guarantee they'll actually be doing projects themselves, especially since it's probably going to be a failure as a service. I thought I read on RPS that they weren't going to crowdfund an eventual sequel to PoE, maybe related to their PAX panel, but now I can't find it so oh well

The plan was for the founders to use the site, but if it all goes tits up I'm sure they'll keep using Kickstarter. There's a reason the launch project wasn't one of theirs.

Tower 57 has just been funded. There's a stretch goal for modding tools at $51k euros, which could be cool, but it's proceeded by a stretch goal for an Amiga port which is pretty meh.

There could be a remote chance it gets the basic funds for the title down, but Saberrider seems to have been through too much trouble already before the KS even began that I'm not quite sure if even nostalgia can save it. These devs have been trying to make this game since the GBA era and this isn't the first time they've turned to crowdfunding to make it - they raised over 10k EUR several years ago and I think they even got a government grant but pissed it all away on nothing. I don't think they're counting on the nostalgia for this C-tier 80s cartoon to scam people, it's more that they're so in love with this cartoon that they're wasting their lives (and other peoples' money) trying to turn it into a game even though they're not the least bit competent.

Tsioque is 5 days away from the deadline with 29k out of 35 needed. 865 backers amounted to 29k - seems like a hell of a lot of backers to me, and maybe selling the game too cheap at 8 dollars.

He founded MochiMedia and ran it with Jameson through their acquisition by I-forget-who, then was at a couple places including Facebook for a bit. Founded the Mission Bit stuff, and I think is a great fit for what Fig needs to do technically.
