A curious bunch, the UN. They'd rather be vindicated than victorious.

I'm amazed we got a viable Jump Point that is essentially in a No Federation Zone, what with its proximity to our asteroids and being near Jupiter's orbit. I propose we scout the entire system and, if useful, get automines running, act like the transports are headed to Callisto (assuming proper time of year) or our nearby asteroid, their orders officially being listed as "none of the Triumvirate's beeswax". Once we're ready (and have made off with enough extrasolar wealth), we break down the automines, carry off our ill-gotten gains, and reveal jump tech to the world. When the civvies get to our first system, they'll find it a tad sparse of resources, perhaps, but I think the novelty will keep them from asking too many inconvenient questions.

Obviously we'll collapse or otherwise make the pits not appear like mining pits when we collect the automines. Or we could just write "Belnars rule!" in spray paint near one to make it look like more Belnar remnants.

Hmm, sounds reasonable. There's no way that a massive operation to mine an entire solar system, the support and operational personnel that would require, the massive influx of TN materials to be processed, or any trained geologist coming across a collapsed ex-minesite would raise any alarms. Consider my objections settled.

Does the UN have any idea where those Belnar jump drives went? No jump points in the inner solar system though, at least as far as we know.

Also where the hell is Callisto anyway? I'm looking at the maps and dont see it.

Suppose the UN does go along with this foolish plan to destroy or subjugate Cornucopia. What's the Fed and the public reaction going to be? Perfectly justifiable outrage. Fed will almost certainly get involved and back up Cornucopia against this paranoid, imperialist aggression, either indirectly with materiel or by stepping in themselves and as we've seen, Fed's military is far in advance of the UNs. This will end up with something far worse than the end of the Mars Fiasco for the UN if this line of thought is pursued.

Jimmy / I_B I think we should divert some construction capacity towards producing a few more maintenence facilities and placing them on Tranquility. 1500T capacity would be enough to support a small Destroyer squadron, say 2 Samars and 2 Surigao while the rest can hide out around Jupiter.

As for ground forces can we load a UN MI batallion and a Federation MI batallion and send them to Mars ASAP. They can go on the offensive against robots and BG is hinting pretty strongly that there is something to be found.

The UN may have to jump the gun here and announce the discovery of the jump points and promise open and free access to space for the future of humankind to claim some sort of high ground if the Fed actually decides to start blockading points. Or not. This is all so exciting.
