first, we need High Command to develop a doctrine, around which to create concept ships and then identify the technologies required to create them.

Much theoretical wargaming shows that a fleet of two components, fighters/carriers and missile cruiser escorts, can be extreemly effective in alpha strike capacity, and engage from ranges such as to put most ships out of harm's way.

I dislike Lord Windy's proposal, and everything it represents. Our perceived ability to get an excavation team to Mars first, to excavate the ruins well before the Federation scum-sucking commies, gives us leverage. Utilized correctly we could end up controlling all of Mars Earth/ The Milky Way ourselves. Creating a third polity seems counterproductive with our central goal of guaranteeing human rights shiny consumer products to every member of our species, and providing humanitarian aid delicious McDonalds® wherever possible.

The United Nations is the only body that should rule humanity as she expands outside of Earth, because it is the only body dedicated to social progress and world peace ♫WE'RE IN THE MONEY♫

Let us leverage the ruins to make Mars blue like Earth and the UN.

So I hope you can all see my vision a little more clearly now. I also hope you can temper it and point out where I might be rolling over a little too much. At the same time, I would like nothing more than if you can all take a genuine interest in ensuring that World War 3 never happens and moving towards a solar system where Humans live in total harmony.

Finally, I don't intend Mars to fall to either side, it should be given full access to a proper military and made sure it's government is fully independent lest either side attempt cheat each other.

Your Ghostbuters were produced weeks before the Federation PDC, so they had ample time to discover them on their DSTS. Theirs was produced near the end of the last update and is the detection you're referencing.

As for the Federation, it is a federative agglomeration of nations, similar in some ways to the UN, but different in others. The Federation is much more of a centralized organization, with real judicial, legislative and executive power given to the Federation as an entity in its own right, compared to the relationship that the UN has with its member nations. This was a condition of entry imposed by the India-Russia-China triumvirate on new member nations, who were all, with the exception of Indonesia, in a much poorer energy situation at the time of the Federation's ascent to a global superpower. As a whole, the regime-to-member relationship is closer to that between a federal government and its constituent subnational state (USA, Russia, etc) than to a UN-like supranational organization. Obviously, the larger or more economically powerful Federation nations wield more power within this hierarchy.

At the same time, many of these member nations had regimes that could be described as "repressive" in some fashion or another, and the founding nations were forced to compromise on some human rights matters in the Federation Constitution. On the whole, the Federation is guilty of more human rights violations than the UN, but nothing on the scale of North Korea, Iran, or China.

Federation state-owned media outlets dominate the space, with independent news organizations subject to moderate censoring. Internet access is monitored and subject to moderate censoring as well. However, Trans-Newtonian technology has made wireless internet access inexpensive and ubiquitous, even across long distances, so most Federation subjects actually have access to foreign media. The government officially forbids this, but in practice takes no action against offenders.

Political activism is tolerated to an extent. Rallies and protests must be scheduled months in advance, permits obtained, and are subject to cancellation by the Central Federation Police (the pan-national internal police and investigative force of the Federation) at will. Additionally, there are restrictions on the maximum number of protests an organization may sponsor in a year, the maximum number of attendees, and even the maximum number of activists permitted to enroll in a particular activism organization (which must also be licensed and monitored). However, when protests actually occur, they are given relative cooperation by state officials, and government reprisals are unheard of. Subversive newspapers and internet sites are required to be registered, and illegal publications are punished harshly.

On the other hand, religious and sexual freedom is widespread and encouraged in the state-controlled educational system, due to the many religions and cultures present in the various member states.

So evil commies then, got it.
