I've never seen the point of Counter. Supers can tank the damage and come out stronger for it, Reals can just avoid it. And unless you're powerful enough to consostently OHKO mooks, you'll be sitting through their attacks anyway. Also I always loved how they did the 'It's name is?!' scene.

Hey now, Z2-1 is better about this than a lot of SRWs. After all, it's the one time it still makes sense that it makes sense to punch things to the moon while you're on the moon.

Omnicrom posted:You aren't alone, I've heard that point raised many times. And Shin Mazinger isn't faultless, there's a reason the first arc is known as "The Endless Knight" because the pacing can be shoddy. It's not next mission. Next mission is focused on the Worst Super Robot Ever Made.

The Thing about Dai-Guard is not the bureaucratic aspects of the show. While it's a nice nod to some of the troubles a civilian company owning a giant robot would face, it's not a big draw and in any case it's not brought up as much in SRWZ because being part of an established group of giant robots beating up Evil tends to minimize a lot of those paperwork and red-tape issues anyway. I'm pretty sure the Thing about Dai-Guard is that Dai-Guard is a monumentally awful robot. It's one of the very few giant robot shows that pay more than bare lip service to physics (beyond the Square-Cube law which you pretty much have to ignore if the premise is 'giant robots'). Attaching a drill to Dai-Guard renders the machine nigh-uncontrollable due to the torque of the spinning drill. Armour plates buckles if the machine ever tries to lift a Heterodyne. Dai-Guard's component pieces must be transported to the location of the battlefield and assembled on a giant scaffold. The list goes on. In fact one piece of 'flavour' in this game showcases this very well. Dai-Guard is pretty much the only machine in the game where the damage quotes are not along the lines of 'That didn't hurt!' or 'you'll pay for that!', etc, but a constant stream of complaints about various subsystems and equipment malfunctioning due to the damage received (thankfully not actually reflected in gameplay terms). My personal favourite would be one when Dai-Guard receives critical damage - the main computer hangs, and Akagi starts yelling at Aoyama to hurry up and reboot the thing.

vilkacis posted:I think that's more because landing them ensures they won't encounter the enemy until you've already mopped up anything that could pose a threat with units that don't suck. That might work if the most efficient way to clear maps in J wasn't to stand still and let the enemy army come to you, because if you move over to them the wave spawning at the opposite end of the map (and you know there is one) will take twice as long to get to.

Wing is sadly a pretty mediocre machine in Hakai-hen. Wing Zero makes up for it in spades. And then some. Also it's Wang Liu Mei, not Min.

She's Chinese. The characters is the same but the pronounciations can differ. It's why everyone calls him 'Chang Wufei' and not 'Chang Gotobu'.

Caphi posted:No I mean, things about Gundam 00 specifically say that is the reading of this character's name specifically. I am very confused. Her name is written with mandarin characters because she's Chinese. Japanese kanji shares a lot of these characters with the mandarin alphabet, but the pronounciation differs. When you read it being 'Wan Ryumin' you're reading how those same characters would be pronounced if they were Japanese kanji. But her name is Wang Liu Mei because she's Chinese, and she was given a Chinese name in characters that can also be found in the Japanese language. Here, have a look at the wiki page: http://gundam.wikia.com/wiki/Wang_Liu_Mei

Okay then, I'm apparently completely wrong on the pronounciation and need to go back to studying Chinese properly, but it's still written 'Wang Liu Mei' in english.

Alternatively, pump up the Skill stat on the Macross Quarter, cast Mercy and Strike and than MAP Chirico. Takes a bit of work, but hey, consistent activation.

Actual series interaction here is between Godmars and Shin Mazinger, and even then it's not really Takeru and Kouji so much as Tsubasa and... Takeru's mom, whatever her name is.

There is no real reason to use Chirico's 'full potential'. He will kill things and dodge things efficiently enough without being in critical condition, and without the issue of a RNG fluctuation taking him out of the fight immediately.
