The Boring Preachy Part is the best part, you philistine.

I normally agree, but when he starts getting into recursive loops of rage, it just gets tiring, ya know?

I'm listening to Winters right now, and the first half-hour has been just baseball, negro leagues and jazz. Fantastic.

Edit: And literally three minutes later, he's railing against the media. Ha~!

If Greg Proops did less of the political stuff, I'd like to get back on the Smartest Man in the World train. Any of the more recent episodes you guys recommend?

He just released another Film Club episode, this one one on "The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3". The various anecdotes he pulls about the people behind the movies, combined with his stories about watching cinema in the 70s are pretty interesting. If you think you'd enjoy that, I'd recommend all of the Greg Proops Film Club episodes.

Pelham has been sitting in my Netflix queue for a while, glad I waited this long. Should I watch the movie first, or is this like Rifftrax, where you watch it alongside the movie?

The Film Club eps are mostly a prologue to him screening said movie, followed by him saying "I give you (said movie)", a brief sound of audio cutting to credits rolling and finally a shorter discussion of said movie with a Q & A. So yeah, as soon as he stops the prologue by presenting it, I'd pause the podcast and start it up. It's pretty clear in the podcast.

Also, is the Netflix movie the original or the remake? You should really go out and find the 70s version with Walter Matthau. It's the one Greg discusses and it really is waaay better than the Travolta remake.

Oh, no friend. I was raised on old-rear end movies and I definitely have Greg's snobbery built in. I'm talkin' the Matthau one.

Just got back from the Raleigh show, it should drop either next week or the week after.

Things to look forward to:

Minute 5: Greg reads an email

Minute 45: Greg goes back to reading the same email after a fractal of a tangent

He's forecasting that the upcoming podcast in Amsterdam is going to be 7 hours long.

Even though I don't care about baseball, hopefully he'll give us the Pete Rose stuff.

"Hills" is without question the most rambling and self-indulgent thing he's put out so far.

It's great!

He asked "where was I?" and about half of the people including me said "Email!" which he promptly ignored.

I'm also fairly certain he announced himself in a southern accent at the top of the show

He did.

He was all like, "there's no announcer, so I'm going to disguise my voice and introduce myself".
