![]() Introduction After one year of library runs, the Loathsome Jerk stream is switching gears. Our new offer is a double feature: Top 20 and Horror Hour. Top 20 showcases twenty games picked by the viewers, either from the library of a single system or based on a specific feature. A mix of good, bad and hilarious is the idea, while still giving a solid display of the capabilities of the hardware. Horror Hour is all about scary games (or at least games that want to be scary). Survival horror, psychological horror, action horror - we will get a taste of everything! Apart from a few titles I have already picked out, the games featured will be chosen by the viewers. FAQ When/where is the stream? The stream takes place on Saturdays, 1800 UTC at my website. There is also almost always a pre-stream one hour before the regular broadcast where I play more... unique games. What does the schedule look like? We will be alternating between the two features every week, trying our damnedest to squeeze in ten games on each Top 20 stream as long as it is logistically possible. What if I miss a stream? No need to worry; all streams are recorded, edited and uploaded to my YouTube channel. Streams featuring more than one game will be turned into playlists for easy viewing. Will you have any guest commentators? Yes. Since we have been streaming for over a year now we have amassed quite a few regulars, but we always welcome I have some feature-specific questions... Check the next two posts, each feature has its own section. Arthur D Wolfe fucked around with this message at Nov 3, 2012 around 08:03 |

![]() The Top 20 feature is the immediate descendant of our previous library run approach. The idea is to give the viewers a good look at a specific system by showing off twenty games that you, the viewers, recommend or simply want to see. Top 20 Schedule Our final three Top 20 features have been decided on! We will start with Top 20 Worst Licensed Games, move on to Top 20 Sequels that Nailed It and finish off with Top 20 Metacritic Disasters. After that the Top 20 feature will be retired. Bye library streams! You will forever have your in jokes! And on to the new thing. I still think this was a good idea to do Arthur. Satisfies both camps and you don't kill yourself playing 100+ fighting games in a library with ~180 games in it. I can't wait till Saturday. This is going to me AWESOME*! *Read in a falsetto voice

Osaka Loop represent. Are you down the OL? You missed your true calling as a train conductor. Really looking forward to the upcoming stream. Glad you're playing Heimdall, for some reason I love that game even though I've never been able to beat it or even get past the first "world map" area.

It slipped my mind to ask during our discussion on Skype, so I might as well ask here: Which version of Sonic CD will you be playing for the stream? The American or Japanese/European release, or will it be left up to a vote?

I like the Top 20 approach. If I see an SNK cabinet ever again it's going to trigger some bizarre form of PTSD. Looking forward to this Saturday. Any game about cadillacs and dinosaurs has to be great.

Arthur D Wolfe posted:I will be playing the PAL release since I am a dirty Swede. It will also be a neat experience for those people who think Sonic Boom was the only theme song for Sonic CD. Apropos of nothing, everybody should go and buy the Steam version of Sonic CD. It's an amazing port, and it includes both versions of the soundtrack for those NTSC people who can't quite let go of their nostalgia for the inferior soundtrack, while still allowing them to use the better music. It's also $5, I mean come on. I bought Sonic CD (or had my mom buy, I can't recall) for about $20 during the system's last gasp, and it was worth every bit of that. As much as I agree that the PAL soundtrack for Sonic CD is better than the US version, Sonic Boom and Tidal Tempest Present from the US version are the best songs in both versions of the game.

Well, we are off to quite a roaring start! Thanks to Greygelgoog, Blodgrevling and Temascos for joining me in the Skype call and thanks to all you wonderful viewers for watching! The stream chat reached the general consensus that we should alternate between features every week, so that is what we will do for now. That means that next week is Clock Tower for the SNES in our inaugural Horror Hour. Look forward to it!

If anybody wants to see a better Kickboxing vs Dracula game, try Nosferatu on the SNES, it's basically a Prince of Persia clone where you punch monsters in the face and actually a pretty good game.

![]() Before you watch the above playlist, please take a moment to read the paragraphs below. As you may or may not know, I am a careful man when it comes to stream recordings. Fraps, Audacity and FMLE all record separately from one another to ensure that if one or even two sources crap out I will always have something to fall back on. This Saturday, Fraps, Audacity and FMLE all crapped out on me. Now, I could get technical with you and put into delicately chosen words my hatred for Adobe and their massive, raging hard-on for proprietary technology that fails to load even in their own software suites, but I will simply say this: until further notice, Saturday's stream is delivered to you in one five-hour chunk. For the "real" playlist, I have to make frame-perfect audio matching every time the emulated CD drive reads from the disc and whenever Fraps decided to drop frames due to emulator inactivity. Suffice to say we are talking about hundreds of adjustments over the length of the stream, and there is no way to automate it due to the random nature of the desynch. It will take time and effort to get this done, but I do intend to get it done. I apologise for this delay, but unless you enjoy blurry video and hissing background noise you are going to have to wait just a little longer for your stream playlist fix. As a side-note, the almost five hours long video that just finished processing was my 1000th YouTube video. That sort of makes me even more depressed about all this, but hey, what can you do?

Ehh, you can get some alright pub grub in London, same as anywhere, although the fact that it's London will probably hurt your wallet. But yeah, cool, had no idea that was an actual pub. According to the wiki article Arthur Conan Doyle used to frequent it so that explains that. If I ever had a reason to venture into the City I'd check it out myself.

Speaking of Ye Olde Cheshire Chees, during the stream I not only mispronounced "Cheshire" but "Ye" as well. The Y in ye is actually a thorn, and so the word is technically pronounced just like "the". The thorn was eliminated from written English around the same time as the printing of books started gearing up, as the imported types contained a y but not a thorn (which by that time was generally penned to look roughly like a y anyway). In other news, since the dating sim is taking so drat long to finish, I have decided to make a prequel game to be released this upcoming Saturday. A tide-me-over of the worst sort I confess, but I feel sort of bad about not producing anything of value in the last few weeks.

Everything takes half a health bar and all of your bullets to kill and there's loving thousands of them. Atmosphere owned though. I remember turning on cheats and mashing through it for plots, but I still had to save-scum for certain bits. (gently caress you rope bridge in the first act!)
