I've never played the SNES or Genesis Shadowrun, but I have played the tabletop once or twice as a one-shot though I can't remember what the setting was or edition etc. I'm pretty excited by this but this whole tablet and mobile focus seems a little worrying to me... I get that it is a large market but it makes me hesitant...

But what if Obsidian Kickstarts Darklands II, or Planescape: Redemption, or Original IP: The Asskickening?

Hmmm... What then?

(All my money, that's what!)

Seeing Obsidian free to make whatever they want to without publisher constraints is exactly what the RPG industry needs.

So he really picked 24 days for the length? I was wondering if I'd missed a couple days of it or something.

Anyway, that's pretty amazing. I'm really wondering how big this one will get. Probably as big or even bigger than Wasteland and DF.

I don't see it getting Wasteland 2 or DFA levels of funding, I'd guess it'd fall somewhere around 800k total. Now if they could ease the minds of PC gamers, maybe it'd even get up to around 1.5m.

Also, I brought up the idea of a small little Quick Look or Let's Play with some of us and Jordan and Mitch playing the old Shadowrun games, SNES, Genesis, PnP, or XBox360. Do you guys think you'd like something like it? No promises though, I don't wanna be that guy.

I think this would be great.
If it were me, I'd just do it as a sketch (or series of sketches) rather than have them actually play the games on camera for any length of time (I hear they're a bit busy). Just try to communicate which aspects of each game they want to take as influences on Shadowrun Returns, and possibly also which parts they see as not fitting the experience. If the videos are fun, people are going to share them and talk about them and you'll reach more and more people who remember those games fondly but haven't heard of the kickstarter (content is advertising, advertising is content, yadda yadda).
Also, don't forget the Sega/Mega CD game, since it was actually turn-based (you gotta know japanese though).

I would absolutely love either of these things, whether it be just something showing emphasis and examples, or actual Let's Plays or Quick Looks. I like the idea of showing the PnP as well.

Can you just make one of these, but of Shadowrun? That would be swell.

I can attest that this is in fact what a game of Dungeons and Dragons, and similarly Shadowrun, is exactly like.

New update on the kickstarter.

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects...ns/posts/202725

Highlights are X-Com style gameplay of sorts, new 1m goal for a new location, and cancelling co-op and mp aspects to focus on single-player.

I'm pretty cool with this, frankly. Have they said if the game will actually go off of PnP rulesets?

edit: You guys think it'll break 700k in the next day?

They are making about 2k an hour and they are at 674k. I think they will.

In traditional games board they just complain about how 5th edition isn't going to be an increment on 4th edition, but going back to 3rd edition and calling everyone who likes anything before 4th edition or FATE, grognards.

It wasn't a very comfortable board last I went there.

That is the only board I have ever seen that likes 4th edition. I was shocked when I saw how anti-3.5 and pro-4th it was.

It's a fine board, as long as you aren't a grognard.

Honestly the best board I've found for these topics has been /tg/, which I guess says a lot.
