Just go play deus ex HR and change some words in your head. That game is SR as fuuuuck.

Except DX:HR isn't all that sandboxy, especially the last 3rd of the game.

How's the donations for this been going?

Is it still pretty steady or has it started to trickle?

I wish the Shadowrun books were on Kindle, because I would totally read a couple of them.

There is a few that I saw, but I have no idea if they are any good.

Speaking of reading Shadowrun, I put down my money, but I am only really familar with the SNES title. Can someone recomend some good reading(Kindle or otherwise) I should get. I figure the players guide might be a good start, but wanted to get some confirmation before dropping any money on it as I'm not really interested in playing the game itself.

My memory is probably tainted by nostalgia, but the Dog Shaman trilogy (Never Deal With a Dragon, Choose Your Enemies Carefully, Find Your Own Truth) is a pretty good intro to the setting, the main character is a random 5-9 cubicle worker who gets thrown into the seedy underbelly of society. So some of the setting 'propaganda' is just thrown out there, but you learn about a lot of other stuff as the character does.

2XS is also a really good example of an SR novel (hell, anything by Nigel Findley), I'd also recommend Burning Bright because insect spirits that eat souls are badass, and Striper Assassin (I might have that title wrong, it was something like that though) is an example of a book that actually gets a furry/shapeshifter right.

Thanks for the tips, but sadly Amazon has failed me, so I shall have to hold out until I can run to some used bookstores.

New update video from Jordan on the Kickstarter page. The "backers-only" mission if they hit $1.5 million will now be a timed exclusive for the backers and then released to everyone later on.

I have a hard time believing the people complaining were those who actually donated. Still, I suppose it doesn't matter.

I don't. I thought it was dumb to withhold content like that just for donors. There were other people in this thread who were donors who complained about it.

hmm, well then, I stand corrected. Either way, I'm glad it'll be there.

Yeah, I really like the blue one. The second one is ok, but I don't like the first one at all.

I hope we get a choice of which shirt we want and not one randomly assigned.

The very end of the update says we get to vote on one.

I guess I'm just not as good at reading as a bear with a monocole. No shame in that.

Now, you just have to hope the community makes the right choice.

But as far as actually producing the game is concerned, I'm a bit worried.

I am cautiously optimistic, but I do agree it is something to worry about. Perhaps even if the game ends up not being as good as we all hope it will be, the tools and community will be available to create the gameplay and stories worthy of the name. That in itself is part of the reason I backed this project.

I would like it to look good, but I wasn't really expecting graphics much different than a slightly modern looking Infinity engine. The gameplay is what I'm hoping is topnotch. But as far as graphics, that's somthing that perhaps the community can help with too.

I donated with Paypal, but I'm sort of wondering how I'm supposed to get access to the game once it comes out since I don't remember them taking my email address. I still have my receipt but that's about it.

They have your email and address from your PP payment.

Man the more I think about it the more I just want an expanded and updated version of the SNES game. If they gave me that game with a bunch more missions, cyberware, spells, etc. with the new expanded class system I'll be happy.

I think you mean this.

But seriously, it doesn't need super awesome graphics to be great

Okay, so I'm planning to run a Shadowrun 4E pbp game in Trad Games for everyone who didn't get to play with Grey Hunter. It'll be posters from this thread (so far as we can manage) for the first picks and then if we lack some people I'm throwing up a recruitment thread on Trad Games. I've only played as a player two times so far but I've been DMing D&D the most part of my pnp career so I'll just have to switch over. I'll be learning along with the players and Grey Hunter okayed me asking him questions, so I'm not expecting this to go terrible.

- I'm a new Shadowrun 4E DM, so I'll be learning this along with the new guys (be gentile on my gently caress ups).
- I'll need 4-6 people
- First picks will be people from this thread who never played before.
- It'll be Play-By-Post on Traditional Games, expect at-least one update a day.

I don't want to derail this thread so once I am satisfied I've got at-least 3 people from here I'll throw up the recruitment post for the remainder and discussion will move to there.

I would love to do this, but sadly I must admit I have 0 experiance with PnP RPG(I've always wanted to get into them, but never have.) Not sure how the PbP is handled. Perhaps I can sit in on the game or whatever.

I prefer the sidebar. It actively shifts your attention from the gameplay to the conversation (I'm assuming as a turn-based game that stuff is pretty much 'paused' while you're doing this) and there's enough space for longer dialogue and/or more button options. Also it definitely looks like it would be easier to use on a tablet with the relatively big dialogue buttons.

I agree. It's good for the tablets and doesn't hurt the PC version.

Am I the only one that will be getting both the PC and the tablet versions? I can't wait.
