i used a library called novacaine today that lets you do really fast low-level reading from the microphone or some other audio source. it prettymuch just lets you pass a block into a method as a parameter, and it keeps executing that block every 20ms. so i just wrote a little code to jigger around the size of an image in the view based on the volume sent into the mic so that when the user speaks into the mic to record a voice clip you get that cool visual feedback. you can get the pitch and "phase" whatever that is too so all i gotta do is get/make a freebie image of a sine wave and its gonna look p tite

wouldnt that make sense since a lot of the time if you're using blocks its because youre sending them to be processed in a different thread and UIKit only works from the main thread? you could still use performSelectorOnMainThread: waitUntilCompleted inside that block and do your UI stuff in that selector btw
