This show is weird. I'll probably keep watching because there are no other weird shows like it.

As a heterosexual male (I have no idea why i feel compelled to qualify this), I find Hannah more attractive naked than with whatever ridiculous clothing she decides to wear in the episodes. I think she's an attractive girl but the frumpy weird poo poo she wears does not do her any favors.

The whole "league" concept is something beta males use to justify it being ok to be a lovely beta male.

I really enjoyed that episode. The Ray/Adam interaction was fantastic. For all of his chaotic/eccentric personality, Adam always seems to have these barbs of legitimate and unequivocal truth that he shoots out. He was completely right about his opinions on Hannah and Shosh/Ray's relationship. Also, I thought the random staten island girl was pointless at the time, but on a rewatch I see that it served an important reflecting purpose that led to Ray's breakdown. I originally thought it was the realization about his relationship with Shosh, but it ended up being deeper than that.

QuintessenceX posted:Could you clarify that part about the Staten Island girl leading towards Rays breakdown a bit more? I rarely pay 100% attention to Girls when I watch it but I really feel like I should revisit this last episode because it seems like some legitimately great TV. Well to me, upon second glance, I feel that both Adam and her combined did it. Adam basically dropped truth bombs about how misguided he is about relationships, while the girl basically broke down who he was as a person. Albeit she might have done it to be a bitch or if that's just how she is, he took it at face value as real. Both combined sort of made him realize that he was wrong about a lot of things, and on top of that he was kind of drifting through life like a lump of crap. It's just depressing in general. Basically at the end of the day the only person providing him with empathy was the dog that was ready to bite him not hours earlier.

Golbez posted:Is "Write an e-book in a month" a thing that happens? Do they honestly expect any quality or length at all or is it just shovelware? I think the context of "e-book" in this case is like a book-lite. Not quite a short story, but not quite a full book? I imagine this dude wants it to put as a part of a collection maybe? Just thinking in my head. It's still a ridiculous, yet realistic expectation though.

hepscat posted:That video blogger says in one of the comments that the breakup with Donald Glover scene was improv'd. That makes it just so much worse for me. The stuff that was coming out of Hannah's mouth was cringeworthy embarrassing and it seemed like Sandy went to "You gotta go. NOW" way too soon, and now knowing that it wasn't scripted in the first place it almost seems like that was Donald Glover's reaction. She really talked over him with her ridiculous arguments about a colorblind world and he barely got a word in before he just shut down. I never thought I'd cringe for how liberal white guilt is portrayed of all things. I wish they'd used a take where he was able to get out an actual argument instead of turning it into "look how ridiculous Hannah is" once again. Good job arguing for the point of the scene in the context of the show under the guise of not getting the point I guess?

Naylenas posted:I really enjoyed the expansion of Jessa and Hannah's relationship in this episode. There were a handful of moments when Jessa just seemed so wonderfully bemused by Hannah's silliness. The introduction of Jessa's father really helped to flesh out her way of thinking. Also the call to Hannah's parents at the end was absolutely fantastic. The sex scene was funny if only for the payoff at the end where he accuses Hannah of using him for sex.

He has an app, which was an unexpected hit and which he sold to a VC who decided to fund a studio. We don't have a good idea of what his startup actually does, besides being the perfect unsufferable caricature of a startup. I don't think it's a coincidence that they're shown going off and participating in a lip dup, a thing that's about three years out of fashion. These are people playacting at being a startup, not necessarily people who know what they're doing. What?
