Thirded or fourthed Goat's opinion on that scene. The offhand way he deflected any attempts to talk about her issues was highly unnerving to me as well. He might be redeemable as a character later on but right at that moment he came off as a patronizing horndog.

I guess Lena Dunham just saw Enter The Void.

fivre posted:I've seen that for sure, but it was definitely Hannah putting it out--it's what she sticks on the table while talking to Elijah about decorating, before anyone else has arrived. To me it seemed like an extension of those middle school parties you'd go to and the host has just emptied their parents liquor cabinet onto the table, and among the vodka and stuff there's a random bottle of pernod or sherry that no one knows what to do with. My take, anyway.

Can we talk about something more interesting, like the tactical realism of keeping three precocious puppies in a sealed basket for even several minutes without anyone noticing?

Golbez posted:I think we were watching a friendship dying. They're telling each other stupid lies about how their day was awesome, knowing that the other knows they're lying. There's simply no point to Marnie+Hannah anymore. They haven't moved on but they've moved apart. Exactly this. I think the subtlety in the dialogue and the tight shot of Hannah's face as she tears up in that scene made it my favourite of the series so far.

I've seen people puke from whippits before but there was always alcohol/other stuff involved. It was definitely the trigger for the puking though.
