Looks like Nintendo put the least effort possible into this DLC. This is really disappointing. I can't believe how fast the DLC went from being completely awesome to being so utterly disappointing. I understand they wouldn't be able to do the first map for every game, but they could do something better than recycling the same one over and over.

The Japanese aren't too thrilled about putting effort into DLC as a whole in general. Much less price them accordingly. Doesn't surprise me one bit.

Couple this with Nintendo not even understand the concept, and this part is omitted. You apparently have to own previous DLC to buy the later chapters.

On the bright side though, I'd be surprised if the art actually appears in game at all, it seems to be more of concept/ad then anything. Not a chapter of her own, no, but she's a unit in Marth's chapter as an enemy. They seem to be doing all the lords, and we already have two versions of Marth, so I'd say Lyn getting a chapter is definitely possible.

Erg, not to happy with that art even as someone who's not too fond of Micaiah. One good thing I now realize about her character was that at the very least FE10 didn't try turning her to brainless fan-service as much as I didn't like her powers or how she fit into the story. In other better (?) news, it seems like the pairing system in Awakening is starting to look like Pokemon breeding in regards to creating glorious murder monsters Awakening Eugenics So, it looks like Male MU can have a Manakete kid with Tiki, and that Mark can use the Divine Dragon Stone too. Also, Krom apparently always passes down Aether, so my decision on who to pair him with is going to solely be determined by whether I find the idea of a Pegasus Knight or Battle Monk with Aether more hilarious; might pair with Female MU for the possibility of kids with combinations of Aether, Magnificent Flame, Charisma, Royal Weapon, Rainbow Cry, and other glorious, glorious skills I've been playing Shadow Dragon recently and it is amazingly wonderful to be able to punish faceless drones getting bad levels with death and have the game reward you for it. Though it did end up in a situation where I had one to many characters and had to pick someone out of my main fighters to kill off, guess it'll just be part of the challenge.

I saw that, and honestly, I immediately thought of two things. One is that the phrasing is vague. They don't say they don't plan to release it overseas, they say they have not decided on a plan to release it overseas. You don't decide on a plan on how to do something if you're not going to do it. Second, companies say they have no plans to release a game fairly frequently, doesn't mean they always stick by it. Edit: Really, if they're going to announce a localization for Awakening, it'll be at E3, so trying to guess one way or another before then is kind of hopeless. Well, the nice thing about Seth is, he actually has decent growths for a pre-promote, so when the rest of your squad catches up to him, he can go back in the regular rotation. The other nice thing about Seth is he's just drat cool. Seth. But mostly, yeah, I do that too. It's just so satisfying to take, say, the super-trainees and raise them up into unstoppable gods and goddesses of destruction!

I love how amazingly off-model he draws the characters. It's a great style, it just makes Eirika look like Lyn and Seth like Ike. And yeah, I tend to just keep Seth tucked away until the enemies catch up to him.

Man, Fire Emblem sure is Fire Emblem sometimes. PoR - just finished the desert map and got all the goodies there. But my Jill is turning out to be a bit of a stinker. She can't really dodge, her DEF isn't growing by much and she can barely hit anything, let alone double attack. She's about level 13 which might be low and I'm comparing against Laguz which are tough but so far really underwhelming compared to Jill of RD. Nephanee on the other hand is a goddess of destruction. Amazing DEF/RES, capped SPD before promotion and almost capped STR and SKL. Didn't even savescum her stats to do it. I am really starting to get into PoR regardless though. I absolutely love RD to death and it's nice to see how events there got started. Ike definitely is a different beast in this as Cake Attack said, but I'm close to his promotion so maybe he'll take a jump up in usefulness. His STR at 20 is currently 12 which worries me.

Sometimes you just get RNG screwed, while her growths are good, they're also that perfect level of well-rounded that makes getting RNG screwed so easy. I'd check her stats against her averages before you give up on her though, she still is somewhat of a slow burn. As for Ike, 12 strength is a little low for level 20 as I recall, but far from terrible. Make sure to save an Occult scroll to give him Aether, it'll pretty much singlehandedly save his offense. By the time I start integrating them into my actual party, they're just flat out worse than my other units, and I can never bother to put the effort in to let their growths shine. I mean, I suppose I could start getting them EXP earlier, but then they'd be hogging it from my lower leveled characters

Are they really weak right now? They're on the team (at least until they're not weak anymore at which point I can turn my attention to other shrimps) If team does not include a healer after this process, cram one in.

Since the numbers favor higher leveled units more, they get the most out of the EXP from the bosses, so they'll still be getting levels while everyone else is still training.

It's pretty hard to screw up Ike though. His design is pretty simple and the color contrast is really strong. So if you keep even a few of the design elements (also his ridic biceps from RD) he'll look pretty good. I guess you could put him in a belly shirt or something equally silly but I don't think anyone is really down for that.

Momomo posted:My rule for using units: I sure hope you didn't use that line of thought in Sacred Stones for characters like Amelia, Ewan and Ross. With a bit of babying they become probably the best units in the game. Especially Amelia if you make her a general, taking 0 damage from everything and attacking twice most of the time. Also Seth and Titania are the best Jeigans characters.

I think my only rule for unit use in Fire Emblem games is that I almost always use the first character of any given class and prefer not to use any replacement characters. I also try to diversify as much as possible and won't use 2 Cavaliers or Myrmidions if I can help it. I get attached pretty quickly and like to solidify my team as early as possible. So I always take Mat over Legault, Mia over Zihark, Erk over Pent etc. Also, no Jeigans or Oifayes once I have enough of my 'main' team constructed to not field them.
