Insurrectionist posted:I just started a new run of FE7, and decided to skip Lyn's story and just go straight for Hector. I was wondering, is it possible to get 19xx when you don't do Lyn's story? I can't remember since I'm not sure I've ever managed to kill Kishuna in a run where I've started in Hector's route before. Nope. You get the characters from Lyn's story at a set level, which is if memory serves me right their default level (so have fun with a level 1 Lyn in the chapter you get her). And Nils is not lv7, so no 19xx for you.

Just do Lyn's story on Hard, it skips all the tutorial stuff and the missions aren't that much harder. Plus that doesn't lock you into Hard for whichever story you choose next.

Momomo posted:Heroes are practically useless in Shadow Dragon. If you're using a Class B character, they should be a Berserker. Caesar as a Hero just won the game for me, none of my guys could take on medeus because he would double everyone for 35+ damage each. The 25 speed cap on most units isnt enough!

Just finished Shadow Dragon and started on FE12. Any advice on characters/classes to focus on or avoid like the plague? I'm only a few prologue chapters in, and this is already a whole lot better than the last one. The handful of starting characters already have more characterization/depth than pretty much the entire cast of SD combined (granted, that's not saying much. But it is a noticeable improvement)

Depends on the difficulty, but generally the best characters in the game all appear until the map you get Sirius and Ogma. Archer is worse than Hunter in every way. Never ever use Archer.

CORN NOG posted:Just finished Shadow Dragon and started on FE12. Any advice on characters/classes to focus on or avoid like the plague? With very few exceptions the only characters you'll want to be using are ones from the first bunch of chapters. After that you get prepromotes with bad growths and then underlevelled units you have to carry pretty hard to get any use out of.

The prepromotes and underleveled people are still perfectly fine for playing the game, though. I went through the game using basically nobody you get from that period except Catria and Sirius (who both turned out pretty amazing, to be fair) and won it just fine. Even if you use the most aggressively terrible units in the game, your MU will run rough-shod over the entire game anyhow. Plus, there's a pretty much infinite training area in the Drill Grounds a few chapters into the main game, which makes it pretty easy to use some of the underleveled people.

In Awakening, do the -Breaker skills not wok if you have a weapon triangle disadvantage, or do they just not show up in the preview? Some enemies seem to have unnaturally high hit rates...

This is the thread to talk about Fire Emblem hacks as well, no? So just in case there's anyone reads this thread that isn't already reading the Fire Emblem Romhacks thread over in LP, a pretty snazzy game called Fire Emblem 7X: The Immortal Sword has released a demo with three trial maps. Link goes to the post with the relevant intel.

So I just finished chapter 18. I was supposed to kill Yen'fay, right? I didn't deploy Say'ri and didn't have Chrom talk to him. I know he's a spotpass character, I just want to make sure I didn't potentially lose anything.

Short answer? Yes.

Good, because a bunny Ignis critical hitting him for over a hundred damage was way too amazing to be in vain.

A few hack questions, for the sake of not clogging up the LP thread with them: 1. In Dream of Five, are there any sidequest chapters I should worry about? I've gotten to 6x and 8xa, but are there any others? 2. I'm trying to get this hack called Super Thracia 776 working because it looks batshit insane, but after patching, I get a bad checksum and the game fails to run. What should I do?
