Jarate posted:Not related, really, but I'm actually debating buying Crysis 1 on console because it sounds like it'd be a fun game to play. I've never played it before. I'm halfway through on PC on a first playthrough and it's a lot of fun.

Jarate posted:I'm not too impressed with the game on Xbox 360 so far. I'm trying to power through the campaign, but it's lacking something that Crysis 2 had (I really, really enjoyed that game's campaign). On the multiplayer side, it seems like hardly anyone is playing. A couple of friends just traded it in because of it. I bought Crysis 1 on PlayStation Network a while back just to try it out. I'd already beaten the game several times on PC years earlier, so I really just wanted to see how it ran. It was a decent enough port. Console players who didn't get to experience the first one on PC will like it. But it still looked much prettier on PC, and IIRC it ran smoother on PC too.

Wow, it's already 20% off for PC on Origin. You can grab the regular version for $41, not even two weeks out from release. I'd be tempted to bite but I imagine it will be cheaper later this year since I still have to play through 1 and 2.

I can imagine they didn't get many initial sales

So, after having a lot of fun with the single player campaign, I've tried myself in MP. Strange, but I die a lot less and have more kills, than I used to in the beta, maybe I got better? It's cool, too bad that I don't often have that kind of time. Anyway, I've joined a server and then games and game modes just came and went, we played lots of different maps and modes (some of which I had no idea about, of course I should have read the manual), and I just couldn't quit without the game saying that it will count as a lost match. Is it normal, or did I miss something?

I think as long as you quit while you're still in the lobby between matches, you'll be okay. Unless it works differently on PC than on xbox. What exactly is the difference between the 3rd and 4th muzzle attachments? They both say they improve first shot accuracy but I can't actually make out what else they do.

I think the muzzle brake improves stability and the match barrel which improves accuracy; Choice of your gun moving about less while firing or more accuracy on the first shot - i think thats the difference.

I just watched a video comparison of Crysis, Warhead and Crysis 2 on PC, comparing the graphics of all 3. Looks like they definitely toned things down in Crysis 2, even on PC, since it was probably developed for consoles first and foremost (I only played 2 on Xbox, so don't know what it looked like on PC). So, is Crysis 3 more akin to Crysis and Warhead with regards graphics on the PC, or is it based on the more conservative Crysis 2 look?

Crysis 2 looks a lot better than those comparisons let on - both in the fact that angry nerds deliberately made unfair comparisons, and that if you played 2 now you would have the high-res texture pack and some other effect they added later, but it's without a doubt that they certainly went more conservative with it. That said, 3 is undeniably the best-looking and most graphically intensive game on the PC right now.

Happy days - I played Crysis and Warhead on my 8800GTX back in the day, and they got OK frame rates at medium settings (Warhead ran much better than Crysis though). I'm waiting on delivery of an AMD HD 7950 in the next few days (with Crysis 3 and Bioshock Infinite coupons) so I'm looking forward to turning everything up to 11.

Ceph gunships on Skyline are bullshit. Especially when no one on your team is willing to take a shot at it.

So I filled out the online form to get a code for Crysis 3, care of my Radeon HD 7950 - anyone got any idea how long it takes to have the code sent out? I've been waiting for over 24 hours and I've already played through Crysis and Warhead on the new card.

Just picked this up for $30 on Origin. Is the community dead or is there just nothing to talk about or what?

I haven't had any trouble finding servers. I think it just doesn't have Goon Critical Mass.

I figured this would be the best place to mention it, since it directly affects Crysis 3 on PC, but Origin just released a beta version with a hotfix for that ReVuln security hole. I am guessing most people aren't going to crysis3supersite.ru and clicking random links, but eh.

Anyone has the game stopping randomly? Sometimes I get it in ten minutes, sometimes I can play an hour or two and not see it at all. No response, the music and sounds keep playing, so it's not exactly a hard crash, but still the only way I can get out is killing the process.

Ugh, the microstutters are getting worse. Well, they aren't really "micro". For 30 or so seconds at a time I get really bad stuttering, regardless of map, game mode or what's going on. It doesn't happen in single player.

Yeah, FPS drops were also reported (I saw it too but I consider myself lucky my PC runs the game, so as long as I can get a more or less smooth experience, I'm ok). But since then the patch has been patched, and according to the posts on the forums that one's now solved. Wonder how the connection part is now, I hope they've found that bug, too.
