Uuuuuuuuugh I love this game. I played the poo poo out of HD and became quite OCD about beating my friends scores, which he then beat, which I then beat etc etc. This is everything the sequel to HD should have been. Also I might have to tinker around with the level editor at some point, looks pretty good.

I've also been having issue with online games, just searches for more players but never finds any.

Yeah I just did a pretty good run on an extreme track, then couldn't upload the score. There is no big enough.

One criticism is I dont like the skill games as much as HD. I'm a big fan of those from the first but I wish they gave us the new ones as well as some of the old like the big ball and towing the missiles.

I don't understand how you do the flying one properly, I mash X and Y but I can't get anywhere near gold.

Although I really love the UFO one, it seems to control so perfectly.

Yeah I see what you're on about. That moment of realisation in THD with the ski jump was great. 'Oooh you flick the guy forward just as you launch then BAM, I've gone MILES.'

I started playing around with the editor today and it's really fun. Although I'm finding it hard to balance the difficulty. Some parts of the track I'm working on are almost at extreme levels, whereas other parts are pretty easy.

Oh hey, I've had you on my friends list for years, my GT is t0mm3h. Possibly from back when Gears of War 1 came out . Anyone else can add me as well, my leaderboards are rather empty and if anyone needs an ego boost it's not hard to beat my scores.

Am I going to have to deal with these god awful water spouts in any more levels? I'm about to regret my purchase. I don't remember HD having any obstacles so game ruining.

Don't worry it's only in that level and I loving hate it.

While I do enjoy getting more goons on my leaderboards, it makes me seem a lot less good at this game.

Also, is it just me or are platinums much harder to get than in HD? I easily got plats for the beginner and easy levels in HD, but it seems ridiculous now.

I have to say, for somebody who isn't a Trials -veteran, the extreme tracks are very, very challenging.

As a veteran of Trials HD I can say that you're going to have a lot of fun trying the rest of the extremes! Although I notice that after trying the extreme tracks, regardless of whether I finished them or not, when I play an easier level I usually ace my high score. I think there's something about the extremes that condition you for the rest of the game.

drat you Stormrider, your dot is always just an inch in front of me. I think trying to platinum some tracks makes me more mad than trying to complete extreme ones.

Also, finally golded the loving water spout one god drat it.

Edit: For your own sanity I advise not to watch the top time replays for the extreme tracks.

I just can't do the 2nd obstacle on the wreck. The one where there's a little jump onto a steep incline with a pile of logs at the top. I get onto the incline fine but those loving logs just do not let me past.

Aaaaha finally completed The Wreck, 205/11:48. I properly cheesed some obstacles, I don't think I'd be able to do it again. Last extreme track to complete now is Inferno. Oh God.

I just want to say that already I've played Trials Evo for over 3 times as long as I did for Modern Warfare 3. Granted I only rented MW3 and only played the single player, but I think it goes to show how good this game is in relation to all the 'AAA blockbusters' out there.

Yeah I discovered that today by looking at the top leaderboard replay, took me a few times as well, especially trying to make it completely over the first checkpoint. I love getting Platinums.

Is 'ascent' the hard track with the massive steep hill with a concrete pipe on top? gently caress that part. It's the first obstacle that I can't get past. Got gold on all easy tracks and skill tracks, gold on 2/3rds of medium tracks and silver on the rest, bronzed all the rest of the hard tracks before it first time with a couple of silvers too.

The one you're thinking of is Down in the Dumps I think. You have to try and keep the back wheel on the climb up so you pick up enough speed to just fly over the concrete pipe, without flipping over backwards. Feather the throttle a tiny bit to get some control, you'll get it eventually.

NaDy

Yes, everyone should download this track, it's great. Well-done, doesn't suffer from 'well, it looks like some rear end in a top hat made it' in that it's properly-themed.

My main gripe with downloadable tracks has been mentioned before: the lack of extra 'stuff'. The official tracks all have extra stuff along the sides of it. Going up a board? Well, it's probably leaning against a barrel, or maybe it's up against an abandoned car, because you're in a junkyard. I'm really disliking the barren landscapes most people seem to be submitting.

On my map I tried to keep things a little interesting at least. It doesn't have any theme to it but I did try to fill in some of the background. It just looked stupid and lazy without it.

I've hit a wall now. Golded every non extreme track (and Platinum'd some), and either silvered or bronzed the extreme ones. But now I just can't do any better times on any track. I think I'll just have to settle, goodbye being ~7500 on the leaderboards.

I don't have the Donkey unfortunately. Never did the Unyielding Achievement in HD, it's also only one of two I haven't done in Evo. I was playing supercross yesterday and someone was using the Donkey, it was hilarious.

NaDy
Jan 29, 2006

That one is pretty annoying. You just kind of have to punch it and keep your front wheel up, so you skim the logs with the back one. Good luck with the rest of the level though, I found it harder than Inferno III.

Seriously watch the top replay for the Iron Ball minigame. I couldn't do it at all until I watched it then realised everyone cheeses it. On like the second jump you can fling the ball way back off the screen, then just drive the whole map without it. It's like the worst skill game anyway so I didn't need to play it again.
