What TOR got 'right' in questing and storyline was that being in a party suddenly meant something. Unfortunately, barring the odd big storyline quest here and there, or the first instance, most of that something meant squat. Between my friend and I, it was mostly talking about how much a cheater I am when I kept getting crits in conversations. TOR has some neat storylines. It also has some bad ones, and the layout of it is generally... Lacking. Picked a choice and want to go back and see how it plays out otherwise? Too bad, have to make a new character for that. Want to rewatch a cutscene from a previous planet? Sorry, no can do. Some of the stories were amusing and enjoyable. For the Sith Warrior, if you generally behave in a LS manner, you get some really amusing choices in the leadup to the end of Act 1. You can spare Jaesa's parents and even tell your boss to lavish them in wealth and comfort when they defect rather than torture them. You can behave in a civil manner and refuse to fight two Jedi, and then goad the rasher one into attacking you, and comment that he'd make a good Sith. On the flipside, you have a storyline like the Sith Inquisitor which was generally less interesting than the actual stories of the planets you were sent to. I haven't played either one to completion nor do I intend to, that game just lags behind the standards set by WoW and the sole saving grace can be enjoyed on youtube. I didn't play much Guild Wars 2 in the last beta/test weekend/whatever it was. The combat is definitely different enough from WoW to be interesting but it's a similar concept, whereas TERA's combat is just completely different for the most part. What Guild Wars 2 did do right, I feel, was eliminate inconveniences. Some of them anyway. Check mail from anywhere, teleport to any waypoint from opening the map, etc, get quest credit even if you're not in the group! TERA's story isn't anything special. It's interesting enough for me to skim through most quest text. It's just delivered in a manner that conflicts with the rest of the game. You don't want to be reading what a NPC has to say when you can ride around on a lion and swing your weapon around. It also lacks a good/strong hook so there's little reason to start unless you intend to from the beginning. It's moderately interesting, it's just that you're along for the ride rather than interacting with it or making any choices of any sort. You also spend the majority of the experience fighting cultists, rebels, mutants, and gods rather than the Argons. First time I stepped into the Argonized forest, it was... Well, it was disturbing, creepy, and a cool aesthetic. I felt like the Argons had to be stopped and that all the troublemakers of the past 58 levels using the war as an opportunity to pursue their own goals were goddamn stupid for thinking that there was any value in not opposing the Argons.

So, I've been leveling my characters to 22-24 before rolling new chars and repeating the process, and yesterday I finally got started on Lancer. I was initially worried due to people mentioning mana problems and low DPS, but up until I hit 22 I didn't notice that at all. Due to the huge HP pool and armor, I pretty much just ignore the fact that I have a block button completely. Blocking just wastes time I could be spending impaling my enemies on the huge gently caress-off lance I'm carrying around. Gemmed for HP and mana regen and with 3 stacks of HP regen from gathering, I was getting back ~160 HP every 5 seconds just from the buffs, while mobs were hitting me for 30-80. At one point I pulled 2 packs of Tuwangi midgets while beating on one of the big quest frog riders, and they were just impotently wailing on me while I ignored them and went to town on the rider with my specials. It'll probably get much worse later on, but for now I'm just really enjoying the feeling of being untouchable. My DPS might be lower, but since I don't really have to block or dodge anything at all so far, it more or less evens out. In fact, I'd say it was one of the quickest chars to level to 22 so far due to how straight forward the fighting was. It's to the point where I more often than not don't even bother blocking the red eye glow attacks. Odds are the damage it does is regenerated within 15-20 seconds, and if it knocks me down, my retaliation does more damage than most of my regular specials. God I love Lancer. Dragongod Knightkings is constantly filling up even as inactives are pruned. You will get a higher priority into the guild if you join Fashion Club and mark in your guild note that you are a main. In the meantime, don't forget to add praise to DGKK. I do recommend going to Fashion Club if you're a low level anyway. Not only are our alts all in the lower level brackets but there's also the fact that Fashion Club isn't declared on nearly as much as DGKK. While avoiding high population channels gets you away from most GvG ganks, Fashion Club is still much safer while leveling.

I was getting really bored with this game but stuck it out until the 20s like people here said. It really does pick up a lot and get a lot more fun then. I don't know why in they made the early game so dreadfully boring with a near complete lack of interesting monsters. It was just kill ten boars for 20 levels and then it's like they suddenly went "Hey wasn't that loving boring? How about we give you the cool part of the game with big fuckoff monsters and actual group content  "Is VoT queue free now? I didn't transfer over yet because I have limited play time and gently caress queues. Murdering pubbies in odd channels who insist on soloing BAMs is the best fun. The rage, oh the rage.

PVE endgames are pretty balanced, from what I know. Berserkers are supposed to be pretty mindless (so I've heard). They're slow, not very mobile, moderately durable, and do completely mind-boggling damage. Warriors are kind of the opposite -- their burst is okay, but not great, they are extremely mobile, and if you're going to tank, they are quite difficult (possibly the most difficult class). Warriors can solo BAMS pretty well, and Zerkers are supposed to be able to as well. As for PVP, go warrior. Your crazy mobility and a fair number of stuns do a really good job of locking people down (though I am terrible at pvp, so I've certainly never experienced this myself). Zerkers are still really good damage in PVP, but you'll never catch anyone in order to be able to get that damage off.

So this game kinda came out of left field for my friends and I. It started with me jokingly saying "we should play Tera." Everyone laughed. "How is it, anyway?" "No clue, lets look at a video and read the OP on SA." Then we all bought it. This always happens to us. At any rate, this game is a blast. I love all the classes I've tried so far. The combat is incredibly satisfying, and it doesn't seem too grindy (yet). I just can't seem to decide on a main. Between the untouchability of Lancer, the hack and slash of Warrior, and the utility/groupability of Mystic I'll probably just have to level all of them equally.

Other then that the bosses were honestly pretty easy to keep under control. So if you are gonna do it under 50 just be careful of some of the rooms with the dudes that will randomly make beelines to your casters. I played this game for a bit on my friends PC and really enjoyed the combat and graphics, and I would love to play with goons. However I am sick to loving death of slut armour in these fantasy games, that is the one reason I will not purchase this game. I dealt with slut plate in WoW for 6 years and it annoyed me but I dealt with it because I was a horny teenager. It's that aesthetic in this game that ruins it for me. I know most of you don't care or find it funny just how ridiculous it can get. And looking from the outside in it's hilarious how much tits are being shown. But I personally can't deal with it. And that sucks because I'd totally love to play.

 Decided to solo one of those dragonfall storm lizards to ding 55, took longer then i expected and drained most of my stamina, but the fucker dropped a gold lance on top of putting me well over the level i needed. This is why i love this game so much.
