It's very simplistic overall, basically light adventure game find interesting uses for random items with a choose your own adventure. It's still pretty neat overall and more interesting than the second season of the TV show. Especially the tease on how your decisions will be tied to future chapters.

etalian posted:The game makes it really obvious you have to pick one or the other. Especially the whole achievements for the different choice paths. The achievements seem to be detached from any specific choice, and more just tied to overall progress through the episode. I think this was intentional, I remember hearing something about the idea being that the player is freed from any video game obligation to choose one path or the other, and actually decide based on their emotions and thoughts on the situation. Also when I completed the episode, the stats breakdown seemed to be functional, and I was in the minority for all of them.

I'm stuck and need help, could someone that's beaten the game help me out? I looked online but can't figure it out: How do you open the front gate at the pharmacy? I turned the TVs on and I'm guessing I need to get the brick somehow but I can't figure it out.

You need to help Glenn out when hes at the hotel first, you get an axe there that you use to break the lock open on the gate. I believe you have to talk to Clementine to trigger the scene where Glenn tells you he needs help.

Well that was just plain great. Thinking about doing a second run with different choices, but I think I like the fact that I made some hasty, stupid decisions in my first playthrough. Makes it a lot more grounded than knowing what the best outcomes might be. I'm also glad I listened to this thread and every gaming critic out there and bought this, instead of listening to the opinions in the TV IV Walking Dead thread. It's literally impossible for them to do anything but complain about all aspects of this franchise.

Thanks though!

Just finished it. Pretty great overall, shame about the inconsistent audio. From the beginning up until getting to the pharmacy, the dialog quality was really bad. Lots of hissing and popping. Then during most of the pharmacy through to the motel scene, it all seemed to go away, only to pop back up again during the finale. Very weird. I hope there's a patch or fix for it soon because it's the only glaring issue with an otherwise great start. Something interesting I noticed: I don't think I saw two zombies in the same scene that looked identical. Occasionally I saw two that looked like they had similar clothes at a glance, but taking a closer look showed that there were actually differences in the details and they were unique to that specific scene. There's either some really good randomization going on or every zombie was tweaked by hand to avoid repetition. Whatever it is, it's pretty drat impressive. I don't think I've ever seen a game with zombies do that (though to be fair to other zombie games, there doesn't seem to be a lot of huge hordes on screen in this so it's probably a little easier to avoid).

I also just finished it, found it to be pretty great as well. Although, I really did not like having to mash Q occasionally, which was just because I have a fracture in my left arm and it made it very painful to do so. Anyway, eager to see where things go from here.

Just finished it and I thought it wasn't that great. All the puzzles were really easy and the rest of the game is just dialogue choices and QTEs. It didn't really feel like a game to me. I never failed at anything and most of the story parts were just me waiting for the next "walk around" part so I could actually do something.

Just finished, I really enjoyed it. The writing and voice acting seemed really great. None of the QTEs really bothered me. And I really love the art style. My one complaint is that the audio quality seemed really lovely on PC.

It seemed incredibly lossy and low quality, plus it stuttered all the time. What the heck? Why does the audio sound like it's from 2001?

Is the audio issue that bad? Should I get the game now and wait for a patch or is it not that bad?

Well, you'll notice it at first, but then forget about it as you become immersed, but then the stuttering happens and it takes you right out again. It's tolerable, but does diminish the experience somewhat.

It's weird, because for me the audio was fine on the PC except for maybe two minutes at the motel. That being said, I loved the game. There was more than enough interactivity to have it feel like a game, while the dialogue choices (with a few wooden exceptions) left me caring about the characters. I'm really looking forward to the next chapter, and am very much considering having a second save ready with some very different choices being made during the length of the game just to have two stories going.

Quite possibly the best thing Telltale has ever done. Just an absolutely fantastic game, and accomplishes much of what Heavy Rain tried to do.

Well I sure am pleasantly surprised! I was expecting the same thing as Jurrasic Park but got a whole lot more! The ability to move the character and have dialogue trees with consequences has me second guessing my own decisions and if something as simple as a chosen script has me on edge on what the results of my actions are then the game has done well. Oh also QTE zombie fights are great to with the ability to move the courser for certain actions! Bravo telltale, bravo.

Finished it on PC but I have to say that the PS3 version ran a little smoother and I just felt more comfortable during the QTE with the controller. Now that the pre-order deal to get the game on PC for $22.49 is over i'd highly recommend picking up the $19.99 PSN version with the bonus premium theme. They nailed this one and as soon as you take up that hammer you'll agree

Chappy posted:It's a good show. Is it world changing writing or anything? No. But it's interesting and I'm attached to a few of the characters. Some of them get brutally murdered before you can care but it's still a good show. I don't know if I'd say the comic is better, just different. It's got some absurd comic book elements (The Governor and samurai lady) that unfortunately are looking likely to creep into the show, so I guess some people might be into that. Having read some of the comics, I really enjoyed watching the show and not being 100% sure what was going to happen. Honestly I always thought comics were a weak way to tell a story though, so a lot of my issues with it are generic.

It got me confused too until I read a quick tip online: Talk to Clem and then Carly to open a level where you bail glen out of trouble. The whole side area will give you a axe that you can then use to finish up the pharmacy office portion of the main story by allowing you to open the gate. Also you need the family photo to convince Doug that your mostly dead brother has the pharmacy keys and therefore opening the gate is a required crazy move.

For the life of me, I'm not sure what's the matter. I have a black screen when playing this game. The text pops up but otherwise the game does not. My mouse is a slightly less black square box. It's launch day so I'm fairly sure there may be some bugs, I'm accustomed to that. Drivers are up to date. Redownloading the game as there were a few stops during the donwload due to bad connectivity. If that doesn't work, do any of you have any bright ideas on how to fix this? Edit: Yep, that did it. Thanks goons. Ice Phisherman fucked around with this message at Apr 25, 2012 around 17:02 |

Sounds exactly like the sort of thing that would be fixed by verifying the integrity of the game and downloading the missing files.

Sorry if I missed this but would I be screwed if I waited an episode or two down the line and then buy it? I mean price-wise if anyone knows Also im not to into Horror Games im kind of a babby when it comes to playing due to RE:3 Nemesis' rocket launcher in the police station scare traumatizing me but I love adventure games. Is this heavy on scares? I saw there were only a few jump scares, I can handle that

Just completed the first episode, such a fun and engaging experience. I think they hit the nail on the head with this one, so glad telltale got the chance to develop it. Not sure about the art style though. I know it is supposed to look like the comics but there's something that looks a bit off. It kinda looks like The Sims had a baby with XIII.
