Game is finally out, but I was looking through the options and the 'controls' menu just shows me a picture of a 360 controller, what's up with that? I don't even have one attached or anything.

etalian posted:The game makes it really obvious you have to pick one or the other. Especially the whole achievements for the different choice paths. The achievements seem to be detached from any specific choice, and more just tied to overall progress through the episode. I think this was intentional, I remember hearing something about the idea being that the player is freed from any video game obligation to choose one path or the other, and actually decide based on their emotions and thoughts on the situation. Also when I completed the episode, the stats breakdown seemed to be functional, and I was in the minority for all of them.

RentACop posted:Yeah there's some inconsistencies with the plot that crop up but they can usually be handwaved pretty easily That part bothered me a little bit too, but I figured they just used the back door, like the dad does to go get his truck once everything goes awry.

CommissarMega posted:Say, can someone familiar with the comics tell me where the military is in all of this? Or how widespread the infection is? I don't think either of those would be a spoiler. So far as I can recall, it's never specifically mentioned but they're presumed to be overwhelmed like most other zombie fiction. However in the game, there was sounds of automatic gunfire that draw the zombies away from the drugstore when you first enter, and one of the characters wonders if the military caused that. Since the game takes place much closer to the beginning of the outbreak, the military may still be active. Also someone mentioned earlier that the areas you have to click are sometimes unintuitive, this is only an issue with the 'Minimal HUD' setting, which I'm not entirely sure if I like anyways. What it does is hide the little circles for clickable things during non-action scenes. I played this episode with that setting, because I played BttF with minimal hints etc, but there were a few times I had to go into the options and switch 'highlight selectables' on to figure out what I needed to do. For example, I didn't realize I could pick up the pillow. If you play with the normal HUD settings, you will have no trouble finding and clicking everything, and only a little bit with minimal HUD.

There are three save files for the game, so if you really can't scratch the itch you can preserve your initial run's choices and check out what else could happen. Maybe have an off-the-cuff run, a run opposite of that, and an 'ideal' run where you pick your favorite decisions.

precision posted:No, that's the thing, I don't want to know how things will change based on my choices until I've gone through it once having to live with my gut, heat-of-the-moment decisions. It would just feel wrong for this game to have that kind of knowledge. I can totally dig that, I've been avoiding replaying episode one by re-reading the comics, but I'll have to find some other timesink to fill in the gaps for the rest of the episode.

Is it really loving disgusting? I mean it totally sucks that we don't have another episode yet, and I hope some marketing dudes get reprimanded for this, but it's gonna come out eventually and if it's as good as ep1 it'll be totally sweet.
