Stuporstar posted:Great links, guys. Thanks. I've updated the OP. GENERIC/UBIQUITOUS RESOURCE: Dover Publications to the rescue! Pictura Vector Designs Dover Electronic Clip Art Series (CD-ROM) And a shitload more from Dover - fonts, caligraphy, more clipart ART & ILLUSTRATION: Inspiration/Communities: The Computer Graphics Hub - https://www.cghub.com: Social Networking site for professionals in the Entertainment Design Industry - Concept Art, Animation, 3D Animation/Modelling, Production Painting, etc. The Computer Graphics Society - https://www.cgsociety.com: Another portal/Social Network site for creative professionals in the Entertainment Design Industry, like the aforementioned CGHub. The Dominance War - http://www.dominancewar.com/: Prepare to get your ego raped and utterly annihilated like your anal virginity. A competition where top tier game and movie artisans in the entertainment industry compete for the grand prize of being the best of the best. And no, you'll NEVER top them. Apps & Tools: Hardware: You need this, *AT LEAST* a Wacom Graphics Tablet/Interactive Pen Display. Without it, it's essentially trying to paint with a brick; trying to draw with a mouse. Practically impossible. Intuos 5 - Cost determines size of tablet and active area, size depends on working preference. Larger resolution work/monitor usually is better handled with larger tablets, but not necessarily required. Cintiq: - The Ultimate Tool/Toy. Only if you have a shitload of money and the only thing to do with it is to burn it. Costs in excess of usually $2,000 USD - IF YOU'RE LUCKY. Software: Adobe Photoshop CS6 - http://www.adobe.com/ Pretty much *THE* tool for professionals in the concept art/production painting/entertainment design field. Corel Painter 12 - http://www.corel.com/: If you want to emulate traditional media in the digital form. Art Rage - http://www.artrage.com/: Another alternative to Photoshop and Painter, sort of strikes a balance between the two. Never used it myself.
