It must have been a very fun day at the patent office when these clowns showed up. The guy on the right pronounces dragon really weird. It kinda sounded like he was saying "dragna" a couple of times. All that I could think of the whole time was the guy from Birdemic who couldn't pronounce solar panals. Another thing that was great was their 70's style fighting sounds that sounded more like the sounds the Transformers made when they converted. Time to re-mortgage my house and fund these geniuses myself!

This one's not Kickstarter, but a similar site. This fellow wanted people to finance his vacation across America by train. The money would pay for things like his rent while he's away from home, his food, accommodations and travel expenses. If you donate $1000 he'll totally visit your town, provided it's on the route of his vacation. Thankfully he missed his goal by a lot. http://www.indiegogo.com/Trans-inci...ailway-Journeys Whatever happened to people paying for things themselves or doing projects in their spare time? I'm glad Kickstarter wasn't around in the days when Quake was popular, otherwise it'd be nothing but 'We need $10,000 to make a U.S. military style total conversion for Quake'

This. Kickstarter, the site, is crazy popular right now. But it's still young, and most of the highly successful funded projects are new so no final product has come out. After a year, or by the end of the year, we should start seeing the true results of kickstarter money... my bet is that at least 50% of all products funded via kickstarter will either be total poo poo, non-existant, or not at all worthy of their donations. When those results start trickling in, kickstarter, the site, will lose popularity. I imagine it'll vanish off the face of the earth by next year. Right now though, if you're an indy developer about to release your game on Steam, pretend you need money and make a kickstarter. Take an extra $20,000 then release your game, as intended. Working code, art assets, music, all done? Free money, everyone! Madcosby fucked around with this message at Apr 26, 2012 around 16:43 |

Some people started a kickstarter to fund the opening of an arcade/bar here in St. Louis. Basically, in exchange for giving them the money to fund the bar, you get... the ability to go to the bar (and give them even more money!) No, that's not quite fair, I guess. If you donate, you get crappy jewelry that one of the founders makes, and some free drinks on occasion. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects...louiss-geek-bar Couple this wonderful plan with a video of the people talking about it, and it's pretty clear that they really have no business being in business. In this city, almost any bar makes money. The fact that they have to basically ask for donation in order to start this should have been a clue to them that they're doing it wrong.

So, for that Echoes of Eternia kickstarter, I noticed one of the "new" rewards.![]() Yep, pay for something that comes with the 15$ digital download, just RPGMaker music assets are usually stored uncompressed, even with the "lock-down-my-game" creation mode. The only way that they could get around this is to use the third party lock tool that prohibits use in a for-profit game.

I'm sure there are much worse than this, but this person I know wrote a one-man show. Now he want's to turn it into a movie because he feels like it's "important to everyone". The "character" is a recovering alcoholic, former drag queen, with a terrible scar on his stomach who's idol is Meryl Streep, and is an aspiring actor...just like him. He had a Kickstarter here, where he asked for $20,000 http://www.kickstarter.com/projects...-debutante-ball The video is cheesy and clearly describes his intentions It failed, so he moved to here, to indiegogo, where he gets to keep the money, and is now asking for $35,000. http://www.indiegogo.com/wtdb This video has scenes that he's already filmed, but instead of the actual audio, he's replaced the dialogue with captions and techno music.
