This looks like a game developed in a Clickteam product. And done so badly.

You can make some cool stuff in Clickteam's game making software. It's just a shame to see someone making such crap and asking for money for it.

Anyway, here's a kickstarter for Four Tanks and a Healer, a flash cartoon that the creator describes as "think of Family Guy or the Simpsons if it took place inside of World of Warcraft." The guy is asking for $45,000 so he can make a season out of it, and possibly a feature length movie.

"Four Tanks and a Healer" is a funny animated series
I stopped at 'funny'. Describing something as a comedy is fine when that's its intent. When you specifically have to reassure people that your programme is 'funny' in the first line, then it probably isn't.

This one actually seems pretty cool. Assuming that they don't run into any legal issues. I loved Carmageddon back in the day.

Oh god damnit. I would pay money to see Carmageddon re-released. Curse you Kickstarter! I hated you when you were all about funding road trips for overfed hipsters!! I don't know what I'm gonna do if they start a campaign for a new Rocket Jockey.
I've already thrown $15 onto the pile. Now I hope it succeeds, since that'll apparently land me a copy of the game

Kickstarter are not handling this well, but on the other hand, she's had a stalker for 10 years and hasn't managed to get the authorities involved, or change her online pseudonym to shake him?

Finally, something not awful.

I wonder if this will be the only round of successful games (wasteland, carmageddon, etc) where the original developers buying back the rights to their old games from the publishers. Once publishers figure out the original devs can get a ton of cash on KS, why not just do it themselves?
I don't think this would work; part of the charm of a decent Kickstarter is that it's a little guy who is trying to do something cool, but needs the initial cash injection to get it done. If big publishers start to do this, I get the feeling that the community would start asking exactly why they need the money, and lash back at them. Which would be a shame, that kind of stuff could kill Kickstarter.

EDIT: Also I looked up Chris Frankie, their "veteran game creator who is known for Redneck Rampage." His position? QA Team #2. Literally the lowest rung on the ladder. He didn't even make it to QA Team #1.
I had a feeling it was going to be something like this; especially as the list of games he mentioned that he worked on weren't developed by the same groups, and about using US developers; Stainless (creators of Carmageddon) are based in the UK.

Well I got a response:

quote:

Thank you for your words. We have the world planned out, with more races and cities and what not in "storage" We were just trying to focus upon balance in the begining and it seemed that the choices for characters were just a little outside of what we wanted. The race and city were already planned, just at a different stage. Just as with the Monster City we're working on as well. In this game you can play as a monster, only if you do the quest and find their "essence" then turn it in for your template, then next time you log in, you have the option of playing as a monster in the game.
My only concern at the moment is out of the people we have shown and have let play the game so far, the only real negative comments we've gotten is the terrain is a little blocky, too many sharp edges. They go on and on about how amazing everthing looks, which I thought was a little over kill in my opinion. Not yet have we had someone bash us so harshly for our graphics. Perhaps that is what is needed. I've always strived to make things look as good as they possibly can, while still maintaining game play. Thank you for your input.
He totally had the new race and city planned, honest, and has others in 'storage'.

Which is weird to me, because he says that adding such races will be more work, meaning that the resources for them likely haven't been developed. To me, 'storage' sounds like 'I scribbled them down in a notepad', which doesn't constitute much in the way of planning.

I'm not sure if he's trying to convince us, or himself.

I'm also not sure who's been telling him how amazing the game looks. His testers must be either family, suffering from cataracts, or time travellers from the year 1998.

Also, whoever told him to post in the Games forum here, I salute you!
