Waffleman_ posted:Yes, perhaps investment was the wrong word. But still, it's silly to have that as an incentive. Well, I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out that lots of people don't realize you can donate amounts that aren't tied to a specific incentive.

Red Robin Hood posted:What's the highest pledge you guys have found? My favorite part is just imagining the ability to pledge 10k to some random game and after it is finished getting a bunch of cool poo poo and eating lunch with the creators I think $10k is the highest Kickstarter will let you set rewards for. DoubleFine ended up listing ones higher than that on their website, including one for $150k.

Nubcakes posted:This project has grabbed my attention because I distinctly remember RPG maker 2000/2003 games requiring that RPG maker is installed in order to play. If this is still true with RPG Maker VX then the end users may be in for a nasty surprize if this project actually delivers a product. There's a framework you can install instead, I believe.

From what I can gather, it's more of a specialized virtual machine designed to be able to run specific indie games, regardless of your computer's normal configuration. Also a marketplace.

So today I am announcing the Twokinds Kickstarter Campaign! Getting a book to print requires a lot of funding, but I firmly believe you guys can make it happen. And for your trouble, there are all sorts of rewards for helping out! These rewards include signed posters, books, prints, and even a brand-new side comic exclusive to this campaign! So show your support and get away with some cool swag at the same time.

Yeah, the website they used for their "press release" is a website anyone can stick a "press release" on. And has lots of spam coming from it, apparently. Anyway, here's what it says: quote:Roxivision Art was founded by Roxanne (Roxy) Veatch as a means of expressing her artistic abilities and to create her own style of digital art. Roxy takes pictures/images submitted to her by clients and converts them using digital means to Oil prints. These images can then be used to create portraits on poster paper or canvas matte. Bruce Goldwell, author and personal success coach, will be working with Roxy to help her launch her new form of art as well as her web site http://www.roxivisionart.com. To help Roxy in the launch of her new business, Bruce has set up a Kickstarter project which just launched June 6th and will run for 30 days until SATURDAY JUL 7, 9:40 AM EDT. The title for this Kickstarter Project is Your Picture To Oil By Roxivision.

I'm not seeing what's so awful about this one. I mean, he's not asking for money so he can design a shirt, he's asking for money so he can do a print run. The upper rewards might not be worth it, but a $15 pledge gets you the shirt, which isn't that bad if you like the design.

There's already two game projects on Kickstarter that are jumping onto the OUYA bandwagon, expect a shitload more in the weeks to come. There's also this kickstarter, although it's less "we're going to make a game for the Ouya" and more "the game we're making has an Android version already and you gave us almost 5 times the money we needed to just get the game finished in the first place, so we're going to also support an Ouya version."
